CNN just did a little segment about this. Something new - mom is adamant that there was an eye witness. Someone saw this. Neighbor? Work man? IDK - but if it was a neighbor, and mom at least "knew of" the neighbor (name, etc.) then why would she (mom) say a neighbor witnessed it? If course, LE is going to go talk to said neighbor.......so why lie?

Wish LE would confirm or deny if there was, at least, even one eye witness?

And keep in mind that LE will not tip their hand. Even if they think its a couple of kids, LE will still let public rumor fly about it being the mom - maybe hope the kids will "let their guard down". Or vice-versa by looking for the kids - releasing descriptions, etc.

LE has said that other neighbors don't need to be alarmed. That's a little telling......do they (LE) at least know who the suspect(s) are?

FWIW there was a supposed "neighbor" who commented on one of the news articles who claims to have been home when this happened and gave their account of the events to the police. It's not fact, just unverified rumor, if true though the mother would be innocent.

Sorry, don't mean to be offensive, but I don't understand what was wrong with my earlier theory (causing my post to be pulled), that the mother would not have gunshot residue on her hands if she did not pull the trigger.

Not necessarily if she had knowledge about who did this. Hard to imagine a "hit" on a baby but stranger things have happened.

This is just a horrible situation. I can't imagine going through something like this. I am going to try to wait to form an opinion until more info is available. Prayers for this beautiful little one and his family.

I'm waiting to see if there are any news updates in the next few hours. People in the area have posted there may be suspects in custody ages 10 and 15yrs old. It's not official so we will have to see. I hope so, I really don't think the mother had anything to do with this.

Well if they do have two kids in custody, I will eat a lot of crow but there are also comments like men rape all women and CA is Innocent so who knows.

At this point who knows. I have friends from the area and there is speculation now that the mother may be involved. Only time will tell.

I just read the comment as well.

There are (it seems) 2 people that posted comments there. They live in the neighborhood. They say people immediately came out to help (so mom wouldn't have had time to get rid of the gun). One says he/she saw a kid/guy matching one of the descriptions running down the middle of the road. Also stated that there is Section 8 housing on one end of this neighborhood and that there were helicopters over that area.

Hope there is another presser later on today.

I can't form an opinion one way or the other - we simply do not have enough information yet.

LE is justing going along with her or they would have said :Keep your children inside for now. And the $10,000 reward is standard start. They have to go by presumed innocent but when they crack this case ---- All H will break loose, repeat of Susan Smith ...............

They spoke with Mom, she thinks a former neighbor could be involved. Reason behind that- neighbor was involved in drugs and Mom got them evicted.

If mom is lying then its about not knowing who the assailants were and why they shot at her and baby. MOO

Not saying I think she is lying, just saying the story as told does nto make a lot of sense to me. Could very well be true, its just very unusual IMO for teenage boys to attempt to rob a woman and then shoot a baby in the head, shoot the woman in the leg. If anyone was gonna be killed, I would have expected the adult, verbal witness to be, not the less verbal baby.
