The bottom article is the most bizarre thing I've ever read. None of this makes sense to me. None. Including the statements made within the article itself. Why wouldn't the dad stay with the mother for a few hours? He scoops up toys and hits the road? Why does she only have one friend visiting? Coffee and a fruit basket? Where's the neighborhood?? Why would you elaborate you spent all your money on the baby when explaining why you didnt have money for the robbers? Many other oddities.. I'm just saying I have more questions than answers at this point and I am hoping there is a lot more to this story.

She does not live with the the baby's father.
She lives across the street.
She has lived here 3 years. (I think)
She was a recluse. Never went out...

It was on the news tonight.

not his first trip!:behindbar

Dekalb county and Fulton county (Atlanta) border each other.

Actually, I'm not sure if it's correct. I deleted my link as I just noticed the name is not spelled the same.

Or.....

remember today the mom said that a she knew a neighbor had witnessed it. But LE refuted and said that only mom saw what happened. Could it be that there was, in fact, a neighbor witness - and could it be that this 17 yr old was already known as a gang banger so LE would everything they could to protect the neighbor witness - BUT that neighbor witness ID'd him - either from previous mugshot or even in a line-up?

I do believe they have the right kids. I said this morning, after I first saw mom interviewed that I didn't see any deception in her and I didn't - still don't. She is a poor broken woman but she was telling the truth. Such a sad story.

And I still bet the 14 yr old has rolled over on the shooter. 14 is young - those big bad LE cops can sweat it out of a 14 yr old - especially one that just had the "chit" scared outta him and saw what he did. Horrible. They both should fry - IMHO

You had me at the 1st BBM and lost me at the 2nd. Not sure yet what my thoughts are on the 14 year old non shooter. Kind of depends on what comes out for me.

gngr~sbap - in an earlier article today, it was reported that mom has lived there for 6-7 years and that came from her landlord. And yes, she herself said she didn't go out much because she was fearful (after losing her other son) and that she was disabled with a spine injury. She said the dad told her that she needed to get outside more - so she had decided to walk to the post office that day.

I'm saying that because I just got a "niggling" that the 14 yr old got the gun. Don't ask me why or how or any of that - its just my "intuition". But it is what it is AND if that is case - then yes the 14 yr old should go down as well.

"He's all right," Santiago told the boy's mother, trying to smile. "He's potty training upstairs in heaven."

West said her son was walking well on his own and eight of his teeth had come in. But she also mourned the milestones that will never come, like Antonio's first day at school.
"I'm always going to wonder what his first word would be," West said.

Mom and dad are stunned and stumbling around thoughts, happy, sad, remembering, realizing they can't look forward for him any more, only back.

I see some devastated parents who are not together as a couple and yet are bonded by this very personal and horrific loss.

I will have them in my thoughts and launch light, love and prayers for strength.

I cannot even fathom witnessing what this mother witnessed.

I gotcha WOO. If he brought the gun to the party, obviously that would color my opinion. I just don't have a feel either way yet based on the known. So I will ride the fence a minute on him.

Wow. Looking at the picture of DE, I think it's pretty clear that the mother has an issue identifying people's ages. I would have guessed he was in his early 20s, not 15. But she seemed to be off by nearly the same amount on the 14 year old, so I think she just guesses young.

(This is not meant to disparage the mother at all, I just find it interesting as it goes to how subjective eyewitness accounts can be.)

She has had two sons murdered??? How could you go on? :(

  • #493
And I still don't understand why LE said before the suspects were apprehend that there was no reason for the neighborhood to be fearful despite the fact two random baby killers were on the loose??

  • #494
I guess my question would be do you think that the mother hired those two to kill her baby, or do you think the LE has totally screwed up and made a false arrest? What is the deal, why do people keep posting questioning comments. LE has made an arrest. Why can't this be good enough? Why is everybody posting doubt and accusing the mother? I don't understand. jmo

I don't know what I think. I really don't. I just can't make sense of what I DO know.

Maybe they have an idea what the motive was and are just trying to prove it. As I have said previously, I believe she was specifically targeted because of her efforts to clean up the neighborhood and possibly because of her first son's death in what seems to have been (at least from her perspective) an act of vigilante justice.

Maybe this was a hired hit of some sort.

Because it is common in those neighborhoods. The crimes on the streets are awful and murder is quite common with no attention paid to age.

Actually, I believe they said her neighborhood was a very low crime neighborhood where things like this didn't typically happen. Look, I'm not saying these boys didn't do it, I just would love a bit more information - what led them to focus on the boys, etc. I mean if there were no other witnesses, no gun recovered, it is a he said/she said thing. If he says he wasn't there, his aunt provides an alibi, but she chooses him from a lineup. There has to be something linking them. Now perhaps these boys blabbed to someone or the younger one talked, very well could be. I would just like more info. They can't just arrest them because they feel like it.

When I put it together in my mind, it's just all very coincidental - and it very well could be the case and it's simple as that. Either way, terribly sad on all accounts.

Check the statistics. Also I know that in an area located close to any predominately black area the crime rate is very high. She lived in an area that was section 8 housing. If you have stats proving different I will resind my post.

Show me the statistics of a white baby gunned down at random by two black kids during daylight hours while in a stroller- in a low crime neighborhood.

The crime rate in Brunswick is double the national average on good years and higher on bad years. Anyone saying it's a safe area is delusional.

Wow.

I think that's generalizing in an ugly direction.

Please don't make it into something it is not. Look up the statistics before getting all offended over facts.
