I'm not sure why race is even a factor, we were discussing how high the crime rate was in that city and how it's not statistically impossible that 2 teens (race irrelevant as far as in concerned) killed a toddler.

I'm also wondering about the motive. LE has said they are still trying to get to a motive - yet mom says it was a robbery (they wanted her money). I'm wondering if it was mom's meds they wanted. IN NO WAY AM I SAYING MOM WAS SELLING AND DISTRIBUTING ANYTHING!!!! Its just, years ago, the couple that lived down the street from us - the wife was dying with terminal cancer - she had everything including morphine lollipops and all the "good hard stuff". Her husband was always very cautious and very concerned that people would find out and then try to rob them (of the meds). So, could one of these guys (17 yr old prob) have found out that mom had some "good stuff" and he decided he would rob her for it?

I don't know. We were discussing crime rate and statistics pertaining to this case. Caucasian baby in a stoller being targeted and killed by two black teens in a random act of depravity. Then someone pointed out the baby was biracial..

If they just wanted her (theoretical) pain meds, why kill the baby? Why not kill her and take her house keys and purse?

IDK - I'm just thinking out loud. When mom talks about the shooter wanting her money - she elaborates way too much (a sign of deception) - she goes on about having a baby and how expensive they are and that's why she didn't have any money........ She seems apprehensive, uncomfortable when talking about it. Which could be because they actually wanted her meds and she doesn't want the "world" to know that these kids knew about them and wanted them. So she changes it to "they wanted money".

Its the above and LE saying they are still working on a motive that has me speculating what it could have been.

I wondered if the boys had either just bought drugs or made a delivery (since it seems by their gang affiliation that it was common) and perhaps they were paranoid that she saw something or was suspicious of them. But even then, I don't understand why they would hurt the baby when she could ID them. The ONLY thing I can think of is that it said they shot at her a couple times and missed, then got her leg. Perhaps they were pissed that she "resisted" so they thought to kill the baby in retaliation?? I just do not understand. It is all so senseless.

Here's another thought.

Maybe instead of going to the post office (or in addition to) - which has been said why she went out and where..........so maybe she also stopped in at the pharmacy and picked up a refill or two? Could the kids have found out? Maybe even seen her pick it up (overheard what it was)?

OK maybe they just didn't believe her, and found themselves out on a limb, you know, the shooter has a gun and has threatened a woman and she's still defying him, and he is losing face and losing face fast, if he doesn't do anything or if the woman gets the better of him he's going to be the laughing stock of all his little gang-banger-wanabe mates, so he does something diabolical to prove he's 'the man' just to show how much he doesn't give a rats about anything because he's so 'hardened' and 'street' thereby saving face, oh and possibly winding up on death row, which has even more street cred yo.

Sorry, these guys that glorify crime and violence make me seriously wild, it's pathetic.

The shooter fired 4 times. The first into the ground and mom said she thought the gun was fake because she didn't see a casing ejected. Then he fired again - at her head - the bullet grazed her ear. Third shot caught her in the leg right above the knee.

Then I think he decided to leave and as he walked in front of the stroller just pointed the gun at (into) the stroller and fired. He was being a "" and the shot into the stroller was his parting statement.

So how would they know about any kind of pain meds?

Maybe the crack smoking woman that mom had evicted knew about them. Mom seems to think that that woman (or events) somehow play into this one.

And that indicates to me he is a piece of **** and hopefully he will be tried in a court of law and will be sentenced to death. Then he can sing with tupac and wear his pants down around his . He can then be treated like the piece of crap he is.

There are any number of ways to find out someone has a script for something.
-Someone they know works at the pharmacy, even if they are just a clerk
-The person with the script put the handouts in the recycling without shredding them or throws them out outside of the pharmacy
-A visitor to the house goes through the medicine cabinet
etc
