How many of these conspiracy theorists are there, and how to they get that way?
Well I personally think that the problem is an intersection of a common way that peoples' brains malfunction (paranoid delusions) combined with modern click baiting social media. There are a significant number of people out there who because of a chemical imbalance feel like there is something wrong even if there isn't and when they go looking to figure out what it is, they find organized conspiracy theory. The theories that are the most compelling get the most clicks from that demographic and that causes the algorithms to generate more of that type of content and gradually sharpen it into a point.

Unless something shifts about the algorithms to make positivity more compelling than negativity, something is eventually going to have to give. Probably quantum computing allowing artificial intelligence that will be able to babysit us - or at least the ways we communicate in groups.

I think this is an old updated article that just showed up on one of my feeds.

A Sandy Springs Police officer has been released from the hospital after being stabbed multiple times while responding to a home invasion Friday.
Sandy Springs police have not released the identity of the officer per his request, but said he is “doing extremely well and is recovering at home with his loved ones.”

Don't think any updates have been posted here lately. This was from October:

Matthew Lanz is charged with two counts of malice murder, four counts of felony murder, one count of home invasion, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, one count of cruelty to children in the second degree, and one count of tampering with evidence.

And an article from a few weeks ago:

Barnett said there have been frustrations as the case drags on, a year now, after their deaths.

"I hope that they can look him in the face, see justice served, and ultimately forgive him," Barnett said.

Lanz was last in court on Oct. 26 and does not have another court date scheduled in Cobb County. 11Alive reached out to the Cobb County District Attorney's Office for comment and has not heard back as of Thursday evening.

What could have happened in this family that made two brothers become murderers?
Why couldn’t they be arrested before the crimes? Where were their parents? They didn’t know?
Let’s hope that the trial can provide answers

  • The home where the Hicks lived had been targeted before: Arrest records showed that in April this year, Austin Lanz was taken into custody on criminal trespass and burglary charges for entering his neighbor's house - the same home the Hicks recently moved into.
