Why is the defense throwing the bags of evidence on the ground?

•••oh he just said he is piling them up to demonstrate the heavy weight of GF. Theatrics…..
Yes exactly, Theatrics.
Hoping they won't remember the tractor.

What was the forensic testing results on the bullet found in the home? Had it been fired? Any DNA?

Some of the closing rebuttal. (paraphrasing)

She bought minutes for her burner phone the night before he was found,
Called Rusty and said "He's in the burn pile"

She was on the phone with Rusty at 11:30 pm on the 3rd (I'm not exact on that)
She was on the phone with Rusty at 2:30 am the 4th.
She is on the phone with Rusty all morning on the 4th
The only one that was home on that morning.
Scott was not there. His alibi was tight. He was on his way to the Lake.
She was freaking out. She had just killed him and who did she turn to? Rusty.(one motive)

Was upset that Scott had a credit card but she did not. (another motive)
Walmart July 5th, Walmart Transactions-Melody wouldn't talk about that trip where she activated a phone card. (she lied)
Amanda claimed no one asked her anything when in fact she was hiding behind an attorney. 2 years after living with Mom, she wants to talk. (on behalf of her Mom)
Constantly threw her kids under the bus when questioned by investigators.
Blood analysis information....
Where it was found etc.

It would not have been easy for anyone to move that body but he ended up on that burn pile.
Doesn't matter how she got him there. (listed several ways that she could have moved him)

Discussing the gun.
Discussing the stolen gun .

The bullets are not consistent with what was found in Scott's apartment.
Consistent with 38 revolver (Stolen Gun)
Melody asked when she was advised he was shot, "Do you know what kind of bullet?"

Simplest answer points to Melody Farris.
There is no serious of justifiable reasons to explain her conduct.

IIRC tissue. I can't remember the DNA testing. But I don't believe there was another gun available in the house or anywhere around that could have shot that bullet.

This is a tough call for me. I see how the circumstantial evidence adds up to MF as the murderer, and especially find her convos/texts with Rusty as huge red flags.

On the other hand, no gun, no blood other than a few drops in the house (not enough for someone shot 2x with a gun though), suspicious acting son...I am not sure I could find her guilty after all evidence presented.

Prosecutor did show all the insurance policies GF had and she was a beneficiary under all of them, along with his 401k, which was substantial, so enough for motive for sure.

How was her son Scott suspicious? And he had an alibi! His presence was accounted for miles away. He had the misfortune to locate his Dad's body on the burn pile, but Melody manipulated him to go there. She was always making him run around. She also manipulated him to get him to be on the property as close to the time of the murder as she could by calling him and telling him the horses were out (they weren't).

As for Chris, he wasn't around, either.

Neither brother had ANY motive. All the money was going to Melody. No more Gary=no more money for the kids.

Gary's blood was on the Kubota. There were also signs of blood being cleaned up at the top of the stairs. A drop or two escaped the mop. IMO Melody grazed Gary with the first bullet and he fled outside. She shot him square on outside.

Thanks! That kinda/sorta rings a bell with me. Yep, grazed and forced to burn pile or he fled to burn pile works for me!

I find Scott's behaviour once he found his dad to be suspicious. He immediately went looking for the "missing" gun and nobody knew at that point there was even a bullet involved! GF had been having "spells" and most likely assumption at that point would have been he fell into the fire during one of his spells.

I do not find Chris suspicious, don't think I said I did but wanted to be clear.

If no Gary, no money for the kids, all going to Mom....why not set Mom up to look guilty and take the fall? Then the estate should be divided between the kids?

I like that theory about her first shot being a graze and he ran outside and she shot him again! Just makes me wonder if the other bullet left his body and if it hit his heart or brain wouldn't they have known that? Or was he burned too badly? I did not hear the medical examiner.

Re: “all of the insurance policies”

Not sure how many policies were in place, any over lapping and were unknown to the insurance company[?], but not a good sign. Motive?

A lot of policies = someone most likely could die? moo

That was the impression I got when I saw the list during closing statements.

Jury has a question! (from CourtTV)
They would like the demonstrative items used (not entered as evidence)
Attys have agreed to let them use them. They will mark these items
Family Tree
Interview Dates
Ariel shots and photos

IMO.

Interesting that the jury wants to leave at 5:00. I think they are probably not close if they took an initial vote.

Closing Statements now. They have decided to split it up. Prosecution, then Defense and Prosecution with rebuttal afterwards.
Melody did not testify in her own defense.
I was surprised that the female..don't know her name..did the closing but thought she did an excellent job!! I wonder if MWF in her deluded state thinks she will be found not guilty?? and I would love to know when she and RB were no longer an item.
