Identified! GA - Cherokee Co, Remains in Woods Behind Home on Purcell Ln, July 2018 - Gary Farris *wife arrested

  • #381
Throughout the three-week trial, defense attorneys have pointed to Scott Farris as the likely murder culprit. They noted he said his gun was missing and was the only one who possessed the same kind of bullets as the one found in Gary Farris's ribs and one found on the floor of his bedroom.

It was also unusual that Scott Farris deleted footage of himself on a trail camera located on the property at the same time his family was searching for his father, defense attorneys argued. His sister, Amanda Farris, also testified of Scott Farris having few friends and bouts of aggression after returning home from the military.

Scott Farris was the first to notice the human remains in the burn pile and to report it to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office on July 5, 2018.
Melody summoned Scott to the burn pile, saying they were goat bones. Scott had been in the military and had seen plenty of burned bodies. He knew what he was looking at. This was covered in evidence.

The camera was for hunting. Deer would come over from the neighbors' property. It's a GAME camera, not a security camera. Items are deleted regularly, because who needs photos of mice in their game camera? This was covered in evidence. It's typical game camera owner behavior.

Scott is often with friends. He has PTSD. He also was carped at endlessly by Amanda and Melody, for no reason. Amanda is seething with rage: she gets alot of her venom from Melody. Scott took care of the property, which is a whole lot of work, and would otherwise cost a fortune. He was doing the whole family a favor. Gary knew it.

If Scott's gun was missing, Melody could have taken it: very easy to explain. I don't recall any testimony about Scott's gun being missing, though. It was pretty clear that the gun was Martha Jane's. Only Melody had access to that one.

There is a significant difference between reasonable doubt and no doubt. The law is about reasonable doubt. There is no other reasonable explanation except Melody did it.

Melody took advantage of one of the few times Scott wasn't home to kill Gary.

I honestly don’t know why he would have deleted it, unless perhaps he suspected someone and was just panicking and did it? I really don’t have any good theories for that … moo
It's a game camera with limited memory. He's a hunter. He wipes it on a regular basis.

I can agree to that but there was some blood found upstairs too, maybe first shot, and on steps down to basement. Given that where is that bullet??
We know there were at least two bullets, but not how many total. More bullets could be anywhere between the house and the burn pile.

Admittedly, I missed some witnesses and/or testimony... did anyone from Gary's family testify?? The fact Melody's "relationship" (whatever it was) with Ted was quite interesting since Ted spent around 20 yrs (IIRC) with Gary's sister as his significant other.

Makes total sense- I’ve got family members who do the same- didn’t know if it was a regular habit and/or suspicious timing- and had forgotten it was a game camera - thanks for the reply

I watched Scott's testimony and he stated it was "habit" to check the trail cam and delete whatever images he found on there.
Thanks! I was reading about the trial not able to watch -

The photos from the trail cam were able to be extracted for evidence. It was explained that they saw the ground images and it wasn’t near the burn pile.

I believe this was posted upthread. I don’t recall the source but you can search it on Court Tv.

That is correct, I was also able to watch that testimony and the images that were recovered from the trail cam were shots of Scott, Melody and maybe Amanda, not 100% on her though.

Verdict watch clock on CTV stopped at 3:50:12. Perhaps they are just breaking for lunch. Nothing mentioned yet on CTV.

The judge is hilarious. He is laughing and joking, while the defendant is literally steaming.

Sorry girl, I think that you are going down.

Jury has requested Gary's cell phone data.
It's a bit of a mess in the courtroom. I guess they're trying to get the information for them?
I walked into the middle of what they are doing, so I'm not sure.
IMO.

Jury is listening to Rusty's interview with the Detective. They also want to listen to the jail recorded calls between Rusty & Melody.

If I have the right day, they are listening to phone calls between MWF and Rusty.

I think the verdict will come in today.

They are! Re-listening to some of those incriminating calls.

IIRC didn’t they recover the deleted footage and nothing incriminating was in it?
Correct. Scott emptied the memory on the camera as a matter of routine. The tech specialist was able to retrieve the data. A coupla raccoons, and Melody and others a coupla times, and Scott's arm reaching for the camera to empty the memory.

And, they were incriminating for sure! I hope the jury noted the dates/times before and after Rusty told her he was "helping" LE.

Not from Gary's birth family. All his kids testified, and a couple of grandchildren.

I'll bet Ted and Rusty weren't the only affairs.

Right. I watched the adult children/grandchildren testimonies. I was concerned I missed something from his sibs, etc.
Thank you!

In this whole trial, I have seen very little interaction between MWF and her attorneys
