The Melody Farris jury indicated about 30 mins ago that they were hung. Unable to reach a unanimous verdict. Judge Cannon brought them in and gave them an "Allen" type charge telling them there are no other 12 people more qualified to make this determination than them. He told them he'll check back in with them at the end of the day. I always think this must be so confusing for jurors. They're like....we've been at a stalemate forever and now you want us to continue that?

The money was frozen, if I'm remembering correctly.

I've just assumed she received the payout. She wasn't arrested until nearly a year after his body was discovered. I don't know how long insurance companies can withhold a payout... nor on what grounds.

Just thinking .. I wonder if it was frozen since it was determined to be a homicide even though she had not been arrested? and I wonder why the state didn't touch on this during the trial? (or did they?) Seems like that would have been important information.

I thought the assets being frozen were related to probate... and once that is complete, the funds are available to the executor. Which wouldn't have anything to do with insurance payout. Again, just guessing.

Reporter on CTV spoke to Defense attorneys as they were going back into the courtroom, and they said yes, there is a verdict.

He said verdict to be read at 3:20 - so we have 15 minutes.
I'm honestly not sure how this is going to go, especially after they were hung not long ago.
Tentatively predicting a NG, just based on reasonable doubt IMO.
