I think it is possible that he never intended to have a press conference.

It reminds me of him telling the Irish citizens that he needed to return to NY to appear at the defamation case against him. He had no intention of appearing at that trial.
So do I.

Why have a press conference when the "proof" is better suited for a motion to ask the court to dismiss this case?

Next installment of Georgia Indictment read-along.

Count 1: Violation of Georgia RICO Act
All 19 defendants are charged with this count. There are 161 acts under the count and I'm going through them one by one.

Any bolding is by me.

Reminder: "Elector nominees" are what has come to be called "fake electors." The real electors met in each state on Dec 14 to cast votes for the president. The acts below are all from that date.

75. Dec 14, 2020: Trump tweeted "What a fool Governor @BrianKempGA of Georgia is. Could have been so easy but now we have to do it the hard way. Demand this clown call a Special Session and open up signature verification, NOW. Otherwise, could be a bad day for two GREAT Senators on January 5th."

76. Dec 14, 2020: David Shafer (GA GOP Chair) texted unindicted co-conspirator #4, "Listen. Tell them to go straight to Room 216 to avoid drawing attention to what we are doing," in reference to Dec 14 meeting of Trump elector nominees in Fulton County, Georgia.

77. Dec 14, 2020: Michael Roman (Trump campaign official) emailed unindicted co-conspirators #4 and #7, "Please send me an update as soon as the State Electoral College has adjourned and all paperwork is secured."

78. Dec 14, 2020: Ray Smith (Trump campaign attorney) and David Shafer (GA GOP chair) encouraged individuals at Dec 14 meeting of Trump elector nominees in Fulton County, Georgia to sign the document titled "CERTIFICATION OF THE VOTES OF THE 2020 ELECTION FROM GEORGIA."

79. Dec 14, 2020: David Shafer (GA GOP chair), Shawn Still (fake elector), Cathleen Latham (fake elector tied to Coffee County breach), unindicted co-conspirators #2, #8-19 committed the felony of Impersonating a Public Officer in Fulton Country, Georgia by falsely holding themselves as elected and qualified presidential electors from the state of Georgia, with the intent to mislead the President of the United States Senate, the Archivist of the United States, the Georgia Secretary of State, and the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for Northern District of Georgia by placing in the U.S. mail to said persons a document "CERTIFICATE OF THE VOTES OF THE 2020 ELECTORS FROM GEORGIA." This was an act of racketeering.

80. Dec 14, 2020: David Shafer (GA GOP chair), Shawn Still (fake elector), Cathleen Latham (fake elector tied to Coffee County breach), unindicted co-conspirators #2, #8-19 committed felony offense of Forgery in the First Degree in Fulton County, Georgia with intent to defraud, knowingly making a document "CERTIFICATE OF THE VOTES OF THE 2020 ELECTORS FROM GEORGIA" that proports to have been made by authority of duly elected and qualified electors from Georgia, who did not give such authority, and delivered document to the Archivist of the United States. This was an act of racketeering.

81. Dec 14, 2020: David Shafer (GA GOP chair), Shawn Still (fake elector), Cathleen Latham (fake elector tied to Coffee County breach), unindicted co-conspirators #2, #8-19 committed the felony of False Statements and Writings in Fulton County, Georgia, unlawfully making and using a false document titled "CERTIFICATE OF THE VOTES OF THE 2020 ELECTORS FROM GEORGIA" with knowledge the document contained the false statement "WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, being the duly elected and qualified Electors for President and Vice President of the United States of America from the State of Georgia do hereby certify the following." I do feel like the GA fake electors will be convicted and end up with jail time.

I wonder if the lawyers threatened to resign if he went ahead with it.

This doesn't seem like something Trump would do, on his own.
He wouldn’t care, I think he’d do it anyway! Who knows how his mind works!

Snipped.

Dec 14, 2020 was when electors met to vote at each state capitol. It's the date the fake electors cast fake votes illegally. Here's what else was going on in the nation on Dec 14:

* Trump supporters protested at various state capitols.

* Stephen Miller, Trump aide, said on Fox & Friends that alternate (aka fake) electors would be voting.

* Michigan confirms its electors will vote for Biden, who won that state.

* Texas electors call on electors in GA, MI, PA, WI to ignore election results and appoint Trump electors.

* U.S. Attorney General William Barr announces he will resign on Dec 23.

* Wisconsin Supreme Court dismisses Trump campaign lawsuit seeking to throw out ballots.

* Trump campaign files lawsuit in New Mexico stating the state allowed absentee voters to use drop boxes instead of handing ballot to a presiding judge. The lawsuit was an attempt to delay certifying the state's electoral vote and mandate a statewide canvass of New Mexico's absentee ballots.

* In Georgia, Raffensperger orders an audit on the absentee ballot voter signatures in Cobb County but acknowledges it won't affect the outcome.

* Mo Brooks, Republican Representative from Alabama, called for other House members to join him in challenging the electoral votes during the January 6 joint session of Congress.

After reading the indictments from both Jack Smith’s investigation and Fani Willis’ investigation, it is clear to me that there is plenty of probable cause for both cases to go ahead.

I highly doubt that the testimony and evidence provided by DT’s associates is contrived. That they all met somewhere and decided to create their own secret Republican plot to throw DT under the bus.

I sincerely hope that everyone has read the indictments. That way everyone will see that this is Republican testimony and evidence against DT, their own candidate.

imo

The GA indictment is politically motivated rather than based on real facts and that's why I object to it. I think the plot to throw DT under the bus was contrived by Kemp and Raffensperger because they are the ones who approved the multi-million dollar Dominion system that voters don't trust.

GA Lawsuits are moving ahead. <modsnip: Not an approved source>

[...]

“Trump's pattern is to attack the prosecutors, particularly the prosecutors and judges of color,” Marc Morial, president and chief executive officer of the National Urban League, told USA TODAY. “Trump's pattern is to attack Black women, especially.”

[...]

Trump has frequently referred to Willis and other Black prosecutors who have hounded him legally as racist.

James, the first black attorney general in New York, sued Trump and his family-run business last September, accusing them of overvaluing property holdings so they could obtain favorable bank loans. When James first filed the suit, the former president said she was "racist" and called her "Peekaboo."

[...]

Trump then attacked Bragg and his family during remarks to supporters at Mar-A-Lago hours after his New York arraignment. He later called Bragg a "criminal" and said the district attorney leaked grand jury information and should be prosecuted.

Trump has since targeted U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing the case charging Trump with seeking to steal the 2020 election. The former president called her "highly partisan."

Morial points out how the former president chastised Chutkan by saying the Jamaican-born federal judge who identifies as Black and Asian is “biased” and “unfair” without explanation.

[...]

"To suggest 'You see, they're Black, they're political, they're out to get me, I'm a white guy.' He's playing the victim. He plays it consistently. He plays it aggressively, and I think that most of Americans are not falling for that."

[...]

Snipped for focus.

Are you saying that the grand jury (which I know, can indict a ham sandwich) indicted without any actual facts being presented to them?

I don’t think Kemp and Raffensperger had any control over whether Trump called and asked Raffensperger to find him enough votes to win GA. That was all on Trump. Nor did they plot to have people decide to create “fake electors.” That was all on those people, led by Powell and friends. There was no plot to throw Trump under the bus by Kemp and Raffensperger. Think about it. Were there no Republicans who won in GA or any other state using Dominion voting machines? Did they all lose? Votes that were challenged were recounted by hand and there was no difference that would change the result.

Fox ”News” and Company were the ones promoting distrust in the Dominion voting machines everywhere and they paid dearly for knowingly speaking falsehoods.

I’ll say JMO, but these are established facts.

Interestingly, Dominion voting systems were used in 351 counties in AZ, CO, FL, GA, MI, MN, NV, NC, PA, WI, in the 2020 election.

DT won 283 of those counties (81%).

I'm with you. How better to keep people strung along than swearing blind he has the proof but because of his blasted attorneys he couldn't possibly produce it publicly? IMO, it's the best of all worlds for a PR campaign - it keeps the supporters on his side and donations rolling in but also doesn't hurt him legally - yet.

Also, how is Georgia an isolated case of a politically motivated prosecution when there's proof of a nation-wide conspiracy? Arizona. Wisconsin. Pennsylvania. Michigan. Nevada. New Mexico.

I might be spitballing here, but I expect that Trump's report confirming voter fraud in Georgia, that he said he was going to release on Monday, is stuck somewhere in a bathroom where he also keeps

1. His infrastructure plan.
2. His healthcare plan.
3. Melania's immigration documents.
4. His tax returns.

That he swore he would release but never did.

Am I missing anything?

I don't remember him saying he was going to release his hair dye. LOL

Obviously that task was handed over to Giuliani at Four Seasons Landscaping :)
