GUILTY GA - Four dead in Atlanta courthouse shooting, Brian Nichols on trial

You have a good point, too. I am not really disagreeing with you. I am very much on the side of justice and believe that victims rights are minimalized in this country. I just think we have to be careful not to have a kneejerk reaction that destroys the foundation of our justice system which definitely needs A LOT of work.
I don't mean to sound ugly. I'm just trying to understand this crazy world we live in and trying to calm down an 83 yr old lady who always thinks that every excaped convict is headed right for her door.

I think I need to visit the strange news stories thread for a laugh. I'm sorry if I upset you! :truce:

CP I'll think of you until this guy is caught! If you have an alarm system, turn it on and leave it on. Just use caution and I'm sure you'll be fine. God watches out for us!

Shoot, I am so mean at this point I dare him to even f..k with me. I feel like a sentinel for my community. Believe me when I say I am over it with these criminals. Of course caution is foremost but I am a squeaky wheel and I am old enough to know how to tweak the system.

I live outside of Atlanta and we've been watching this all day. There are just a few things that were reported that haven't been posted that I'd like to add... when this monster jumped the officer they wrestled/fought for 3 minutes before he left her laying there. 3 minutes are a LONG time doing something like that, I'm not sure where the news got the info about the 3 minutes since the officer is still sedated but that's what is being reported. When he took her gun he shot her in the mouth area. The bruise on her brain came from her hitting the floor. He didn't just take her gun, that had a clip in it, he took her gun belt and police radio. He was in 'the new courthouse' building and had to go down a floor, walk thru one of those bridges that connects buildings and down to the courtroom. He went in, held them hostage for a bit, left and then came back into the courtroom and shot the judge and the court reporter. Everything else has been told

My thinking is that the police are sure he's still in the Atlanta area. I also think that he's committed suicide. He could have escaped after assaulting the first officer but he chose to go to the courtroom in another building, my thoughts on that are that he was looking for his ex girlfriend. Thank goodness that judge hadn't called everyone in, he had a civil issue to deal with before the trial resumed.

I listen to talk radio, and three Fulton county ex and current officers called in and told how horrible the security is at the courthouse.... this is a HORRIBLE way to get a 'wake up call'

Please keep the wounded officer and the family of the deceased in your thoughts and prayers

Hey concernedperson. Firstly, take good care of yourself tonight and keep your eyes open -- there is a $60,000 award being given!

OHHHH Boy here we go again. My prayers are for all of the families that have lost a loved one today.Another thing about the judge he was the same judge and being a male who loves sports. That presdied over the Danny Heatley trial ( Atalanta's Hockey team ) that was going Speeding and killed another Hockey player. The family of the deceased asked the judge to give probation as they knew it was an accident. And he did it.

Hey, I appreciate your caring but even if I caught him red handed I wouldn't accept an award as I would consider it my responsibility. The Fulton county jail system is really suspect at this point. Please let this be resolved by morning.

You coud give the money to the families of the victims -- or towards beefed up security at the courthouse. At least you could have a direct say in how the money was spent. Oh well. Wishful thinking...

Okay, I can't stay away. I just looked again at the pic of this guy. He is scary! His eyes are unreal...like looking into the face of pure evil. Those poor people in the courtroom. Have any of the witnesses talked to media?

I could and I would given the opportunity. But I will tell you one thing, if my vote has anything to do with this, I will and can affect this horrific crime as well as many citizens of Fulton County. Am I reeling over this...oh, yes...I am.

CP-Shoot, I am so mean at this point I dare him to even f..k with me

Me too Cp.. Im PMS'ing bad tonight, so i just double dog dare him step in my path!

The bodies of the judge and the court reporter were held at the crime scene for 7 hours. 7 Hours that their families had to endure this pain. Do I feel remorse for Brian Nichols, no I don't. I hope they capture him and kill him as I am so far beyond empathy. I have called everyone I know and I feel sure my loved ones are safe but not everyone else's loved ones.

That is so incredibly sad. :(
I heard Greta say check on your loved ones, they don't know if he may have taken a hostage. He tried to abduct the Journal-Constitution reporter and shove him into the trunk of his own car.

I hope what someone on the last thread posted as a theory is true: that he has committed suicide.

I can't sleep. Now the media is reporting that the Honda was found a few blocks away with a cold engine around 11:00 pm. So, LE has no way of knowing where the guy is or if he has stolen another car. Okay, Atlanta is a large area...but wouldn't it make sense that you search parking garages as this seems to be where this guys likes to hide. (Attack on woman, attack on AJC reporter) So now what do people look for...a really angry guy with a gun and a radio. I know, I know, these things happen. I just pray he doesn't hurt anyone else.

CNN has security camera videos of suspect leaving the parking garage. Since the Honda was found last night there is no telling where he is or what he is driving or "if" he has a hostage.

I'm praying they catch this animal this morning. He could be anywhere.

CNN has reported the the "stolen" Honda was in the parking garage where it was supposedly "stolen". So, LE spent how many hours yesterday looking for a car that was right under their noses. And it took an everyday Joe to point this out to them.

Do ya think it resembles Keystone Cops? It is appalling...

I have to work near downtown Atlanta today so I'll keep an eye out. Maybe I have just as much chance of finding him as the cops. LOL.
