I wonder if it was common for the neighbor to watch the dog occasionally. Also if he had pre-arranged the dogsitting before he dropped her off.

This is one of the many trails that is next to where his car is found. We walked down a few hundred yards. The trail splits in 3 directions and is above the river. Lots of woods, nobody out searching

A LOT of new information from this article. Including:
  • James is unemployed. He previously sold pharmaceuticals, but had been working the night shift at Walmart until August. He walked away from his shift in late August and did not come back to work.
  • His phone and wallet were in the car. It had an empty gas tank.
  • His children noticed him missing and tracked his car via Life360. He communicated with his children daily via a Wordle score group chat. The last communication was Sunday morning.
  • Police have used thermal detecting drones on the surrounding trails. They also tried to track his scent via his dog, Ally.
  • He’s known to camp in campsites in his car.

He’s is young for retirement. I wonder why he left pharmaceutical sales and started working at Walmart. Pharma sales reps usually get paid a good salary.

The article said his family was unaware that he wasn’t in pharmaceuticals anymore (he and his wife are separated; seems like kids are older/live with mom). I wonder if he was let go from the previous job and got the Walmart job as a safety net. But leaving the Walmart job suddenly a few months ago? That’s odd. That’s all IMO, though.

This makes me lean toward self-harm, sadly.
He's in his early 60s and didn't tell his family about his work situation. That can be a stab to the ego.
I hope Greg is ok. Life is more than your current job. Everyone matters.

Where are you Greg? We all want you to be ok. You matter. We've all faced bumps in the road. These bumps don't make us 'less', they make us stronger.

Scope is indeed larger (hello, I am now new to the forum!)
Received a new emergency alert in Roswell. Interested in the case, very worrisome circumstances.
Welcome to Websleuths! Thank you for posting. And, we appreciate local input.

There’s been a biiiiig cold front through Georgia the past week or so. Unfortunately, I doubt the heat drones would pick up on much. I wonder if they’re planning any group searches.

Greg's ex-wife just gave an interview with the local NBC station here and stated "Greg has been living out of his car for some time" Also, new Ring footage shows him walking towards the hiking trails. The dog is being taken care of by the Ex-Wife in Florida. They have set up a shelter with a heater and blankets for him to use in the parking lot where his car remains.

I'm glad the dog is safe but now I'm more worried his intent was to secure the dog's safety and then harm himself. If he's just planned on a day hike, he wouldn't have taken the dog's supplies and said he'd be back "in a few days".Keeping them all in my thoughts and prayers.

According to the news article I read yesterday, Greg’s wallet and phone were found inside his vehicle. We used to live in Rivergreen subdivision and Greg, his now-ex-wife, and their kids were friends of ours. I’m praying for a positive outcome. Very worried for Greg.

His family was aware he was working the night shift at Walmart, although I don’t know if they were aware he had stopped working there.

Oh gosh, that doesn't sound good. I'm fearing the worst case since so much time has passed and he handed off his dog.

New article from yesterday. Reveals the following:
  • A potential sighting at an elementary school a mile away from his abandoned car.
  • Greg had been unhoused for almost a year and a half.
  • Everything he had was left behind in the car.
  • Ally, his dog, is now in the care of his ex-wife.

I assume this is the elementary school in question. There is a direct road to it from the car.

Greg Powell was unhoused for approximately for 18 months. Did Greg visit with his family during that time? Did the family notice any decline?
