TRANSCRIPT OF INTERVIEW WITH MUM
17TH AUGUST
REPORTER - This is a very fluid situation and even J'asiah's mother says she's working to learn exactly what happened, but right now her main focus is bringing J'asiah home safely. What we do know is that she told us J'asiah was staying with his father, when his father reported that an armed robbery happened and armed robbers stole J'asiah at gunpoint.
Right now police are frantically looking for him, as the family is hoping to get answers and hoping to find him safe.
MUM - Please, just please, just bring my baby back home to me.
REPORTER - 2 yr. old J'asiah Mitchell's mother is trying to keep it together, while not knowing where her only child could be.
MUM - He's only 2, he don't know what's going on, because I really don't know what's going on. I'm just confused as he is, and he's probably scared as I am.
REPORTER - DeKalb County Police are investigating the circumstances that led to what they say is a kidnapping. Mitchell's mother says J'asiah was staying with her father, Wednesday night, when he told police, armed robbers took the 2 yr. old.
MUM - He was leaving, like stopping at the stop sign or whatever like that and a car pulled out in front of him and had him at gunpoint and took my baby because they couldn't take anything from him. Obviously, that's what the story that him and his mom was telling me.
REPORTER - The boy's father told police it happened at around 11:30 last night on Flat Shoals Road near (?) Rd.
J'asiah's mother says police are questioning the father to try and learn more about the circumstances, but she's most focused on bringing J'asiah home safe.
MUM - I've been up crying, worrying, I've been praying. I've been praying to say my baby get home safe, bring him back to me, unharmed.
