Public's Help Needed In Finding Kidnapped DeKalb Toddler - Patch
DeKalb County Police are seeking the public's help in finding a 2-year-old boy who they say was kidnapped around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police need help locating Josiah Mitchell. Police did not identify any possible suspects.

"We have been urgently working to identify the circumstances leading up to the kidnapping; however, we need the community's help finding Josiah," police said in a statement Thursday.

Anyone who sees Mitchell is asked to call 911 or (770) 724-7850.

does the homicide unit typically work abductions?

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the kidnapping. Police ask anyone who has seen Mitchell to call 911 or the police’s Homicide Assault Unit at (770) 724-7850.

A physical description of Josiah was not released, outside of 2 photos. There's no word at this time about a potential suspect, direction of travel or vehicle.

how odd for an armed robber to abduct a toddler. Not typical. Bad feeling is now worse. Waiting for more info to make this all make sense. MOO.

same.

my current uppermost questions are when was he reported missing? If this occurred last night why are we only this morning hearing about the abduction? how is there no description of the armed robber?

Gonna try to sit on my hands and hope against hope I am mistaken about the smell.

All of this -- also when was he last seen by anyone other than the family he resides with.

Unless it's a non-custodial parent kidnapping, I'm not buying the story.

Hoping that little J'saih is safe, but not feeling so confident.

I am waiting for the description of said "armed robbers".
I will spit Nickles if they are described as a white man with orange hair who drives a semi. Just sayin

maybe black sedan of unknown make and model and no license plate number and zero physical description of driver, not even their sex is making it difficult to issue one. Just a guess.

Maybe. Just looked up the criteria for Georgia:

Activation Criteria

Before Levi's Call can be activated, the following Alert Criteria must be met:

  • Law enforcement officials have a reasonable belief that an abduction has occurred.
  • Law enforcement officials believe that the child is in imminent danger or serious bodily injury or death.
  • Enough descriptive information exists about the victim and the abductor for law enforcement to issue a Levi's Call: Georgia's AMBER Alert.
  • The victim of the abduction is a child age 17 years or younger.
  • The child's name and other critical data elements - including the child abduction (CA) and AMBER Alert (AA) flags - have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) system.
