I just feel like we’re kinda at a stand still right now.

If his wife is still going on with the divorce, maybe she thinks it will lure him out of hiding. Maybe he thinks if he doesn’t turn up or sign the docs the divorce cannot proceed. He seemed to be on a deliberate course, I’m just not sure what that was. Hiding out? Suicide? This would be so hard on family.

I check the Citrus County Sheriff's Office Facebook page every day, to see if the remains have been identified. The previous set of remains were identified in about 3 weeks. We are nearing 3 weeks for the newest set of remains, so I hope they are going to identify them soon.

PROPERTY OWNER DISCOVERS HUMAN REMAINS-On Sunday, April 26, 2020, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office was notified by a landowner, who was surveying his property, of the discovery of skeletal human remains located in a wooded area near West Riverbend Road, in Crystal River. Detectives with the CCSO’s Major Crimes Unit and Forensics Unit, along with Medical Examiner’s Office, responded and secured the scene.

There is a heavy law enforcement presence in this area. However, at this time, there is no threat to public safety. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Our investigation is still on going and we are requesting anyone with information to please contact the Citrus County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit at 352-726-1121, or contact the Citrus County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-ANY-TIPS to remain anonymous."

Human remains found last month have been identified

Remains found April 26 were not those belonging to John Dunn

Skeletal human remains recovered on April 26, 2020, have been identified as 42-year-old, Marion County resident Kevin Buonocore.

According to a Citrus County Sheriff's Office press release, an autopsy showed no signs of trauma, and the cause of death is undetermined.

From the same article: "Buonocore's last known contact was in 2017, and he was not reported as missing to law enforcement." Not related to our missing person here (John Dunn), but I thought others might wonder if this person had been reported missing. How sad that he was not.

JDD has until June 10th (give or take a couple days) to respond to published notice of intent to dissolve marriage. If he’s alive & has contacted at least 1 good friend, I think he’ll respond. If he doesn’t respond... I’ll assume he’s no longer alive. Not sure how things proceed at that point. I guess she just gets all assets & custody uncontested?

I found a couple of articles. (Again, I am not an expert in the legal field)
1. In GA if spouse dies before divorce papers are signed or divorce is finalized, then the divorce process is stopped. Surviving spouse is now considered a widow. Meaning (she’d) keep all the assets, have full custody of kids, but also whatever debt etc
2 In GA if spouse is still missing once the deadline approaches, then the court can grant a Georgia divorce in by publication action, but it cannot make any decisions regarding child custody, child support or division of property.

Georgia Service by Publication is described in O.C.G.A. §9-11-4(f)(1)

So without a body, the “missing” procedures would apply for divorce.

But to access assets, a spouse would need death certificate “in absentia”. A spouse has to wait 4 years to obtain death certificate in GA.

And even then, might not get access to assets since divorce was pending at the time he went missing.
“The surviving spouse, if any, has first priority to be appointed as administrator (unless the couple was getting a divorce at the time of the death). GA. Code Ann. GA. Code Ann. § 53-6-20”

A couple of people asking recently if there has been any new developments, subsequently answered by other FB users (to say none), but not seeing any formal activity by the page admin.

Best clue will be to check court docs directly mid to late June. That’ll be the best indicator if he’s still alive imo. Under the circumstances, not really expecting FB site to update. Guessing that’s a formality of the conditions for divorce of a missing person. Jmo & speculation.

Find John "Dax" Dunn

This case is really bothering me (for whatever reason).

So, I just spent some time clicking on every post on the Find John Dunn fb page, which isn’t but about 15 posts total. But, then I decided to read through the comments...all 1000+ of them!!

I have read through comments on this page on several occasions, always noticing comments I didn’t recall before (despite the date they were posted). This time around was no different! Although a majority were “following/sharing” type comments, there are a lot of people who have invested time and who genuinely are concerned for JD.

An update as been requested numerous times throughout posts, some as recent as a week ago. Many have gone unanswered.

There has not been a post since March 5; very little heard from author of this page for a bit now. However, I noticed if people’s questions are answered, they’re very short, to the point type answers & from a particular person each time (I don’t think I can say who because this person isn’t officially the author of the find page).

Please don’t feel everyone needs to go read every single comment, but there are a handful I feel are worth noting and may have some weight behind them.

I cannot find any new info. There has not been a post on JD’s “find” fb page since March! There are no updates articles that I’m aware of either.

Unable to find any new court records related to the “divorce by publication” request from his wife filed in April.
I’d think the deadline for JD to reply has to be either passed or coming up very soon.

Georgia man's disappearance a mystery

The 40-year-old father of four hasn't been seen since Feb. 15, when he popped into a Circle K in Inglis and used his debit card.


Furthering the mystery: Levy County deputies searching for him since then say his white pickup truck later turned up parked — as if someone was trying to conceal it in a thicket of trees — not far from the boat ramp at the end of County Road 40 in the Yankeetown area just west of Inglis.

Levy County sheriff's Lt. Scott Tummond said it's possible that Dunn, who's known by the nickname "Dax," simply wanted to get away. Really away.


Deputies have searched by air, water and land and seen no sign of Dunn.

Anyone with information about Dunn is asked to call the Levy County Sheriff's Office at 352-486-5111. The family has offered a $1,000 reward for information that leads to Dunn. Anonymous tips can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-877-349-8477.

Ok. So doesn’t say when or where fam found the kayak receipt, but how many places could it have been? Motel, travel bag, truck? How did family get access to any of those places before LE? Why didn’t LE find that receipt?

Could the receipt have been emailed to his home computer...
And family found the receipt on the computer?

some places I use my CC sends receipt per email...

I understand everyone is different; we all have our opinions. But if it were me and I had filed for divorce soon before my husband went missing, making sure I finalized it would be the least of my worries. I’d sit aside whatever differences to help find him. In the middle of his disappearance I sure wouldn’t make sure I “gathered” enough evidence of a diligent search & to give the courts in order to get a divorce by publication...but again, that’s just me.

Perhaps the divorce was motivated by an action on JJD's part...
And which angered his wife to a high degree...
to the degree that she would pursue a divorce EVEN though her spouse has gone missing...

Perhaps JDD feels guilty about his past actions...
But does NOT want the divorce...
So he makes a runner?

This is NOT to disparage JDD at all...
People make mistakes... Intentional AND unintentional...
We are all only human...

Georgia man's disappearance a mystery

I’m not sure if I’ve read anywhere they stated how long they were married. I did see where it mentioned children and his career....


“He is a former Marine and committed to caring for his family and his country. He has never disappeared; this is completely out of character. He loves his job that he’s worked at for the last 17 years; he has never missed work,” one post reads.

Dunn has four children, ages 23, 17, 15 and 10, and a wife, according to the “Find John ‘Dax’ Dunn” Facebook page. He has a professional job.
