Sad even though we knew something was seriously wrong. So glad she can be laid to rest. IIRC a local church were outspoken for LaTania I am sure they will give her a beautiful service.

Oh my God. I think that's the part the really hurts me the most because she laid there for almost a year," said Pastor Harden.

In addition to weekly prayer vigils, billboards and rocks, all efforts to keep Janell's name in the hearts and minds of people, Pastor Harden led searches. She was joined by Ray Montana, who too led a team of concerned citizens through some of the city's roughest parts. Now, both said they just want justice served.

"They need to pay for what they done. There needs to be judgement. There needs to be justice in this case and to the highest level," Pastor Harden said.

Montana admitted that both his team and the Sheriff's Office missed the remains of Janell, but he now has more questions.

"My thoughts are was she dead when she went up there? My thoughts are was she pregnant when she went up there?"

Coroner Mark Bowen said the autopsy will take several days. So, the CSRA must wait more time until for answers. Sheriff Richard Roundtree planned a press conference at his office Tuesday.

The homeowner of the property found her and called police:

"The remains were found about 3:57 p.m. Thursday after a homeowner found what appeared to be a bone protruding from a shallow grave behind a residence."

I never posted, but I followed this case from the beginning. I had a very strong feeling this would be the outcome, but like everyone else I hoped for the best. She was so smart, with such a sweet soul and a good head on her shoulders. I'm upset, and I'm angry.

The sheriff’s office received a phone call Thursday from someone who had discovered some human remains on Golden Camp Road, Sheriff Richard Roundtree said Tuesday at a news conference. A forensic search was conducted that included the coroner and a GBI anthropologist, Roundtree said. Monday, officials learned dental records sent to the GBI crime lab confirmed the remains were those of Carwell.

“We did find information (during the process) that supports the fact that the subjects we have in custody are responsible,” Roundtree said.

In June, Roundtree said Carwell was thought to be dead based on a statement made by the stepfather, the last person seen with the teen.
That prompted authorities to charge Leon Tripp with kidnapping and murder. Tanya Tripp was charged with concealing a death. Both are in the Richmond County jail.

I can't believe Janell has been found at last. This was one of the first cases I followed when I joined WS. I hope that they find enough evidence now to get a conviction of murder for both of them. That will be a slap in the face for the Tripp's because all this time I've thought they were holding Janelle's location a secret to use for a plea deal to bet a lighter sentence.

I would love to see their faces now. Well we know Leon Tripp is the weakest link so I think he will crack first.

I remember when you brought that idea up. I still think it could be a possibility but the only thing that puts me off is, TT seems like the real jealous type so I don't think she would have missed signs of LT showing Janelle a lot of attention.
It could have been a one off rape and she got pregnant and TT found out though.

I just don't know yet. I hope they both squeal like pigs.

Leon Tripp has been charged with kidnapping. Officials say he held Janell against her will, and bound her. Therefore, Janell received bodily injury which resulted in her death.
