I keep asking this... I don't usually follow cases once they go to jail/trial. Is this type of delay normal? Something is seriously wrong. We have this girl waiting for justice for five years!!

Well there was COVID - and justice does move slowly....
Regardless of COVID, many trials have taken place in a timely manner. Evidence could be damaged/lost, witnesses not available by the time the trial happens, is that what these two are hoping for?

  • #965
When will these two monsters get their comeuppance? Is there any news? Ridiculous that the trial hasn't begun.

For Motions #54 & #57 - the Massiah violation. Had to look that up.

Massiah rule is a principle that an attempt to elicit incriminating statements from a suspect whose right to counsel has attached but who has not waived that right violates the Sixth Amendment.

As much as I respect the need for due process, I'd want to see any and all interviews be admitted in this case

Just now seeing this case since it popped up on the new posts feed today.

Did a quick read-through of some of the pages. This has really dragged on for a long time.

I think Niner posted an article quite a few pages ago that prior to LC being killed, her mother & stepfather sought someone to kill her.

Here's an article (from 2020) that I found:

The newest court documents introduced in early April show prosecutors want to add new evidence that Leon and Tanya Tripp are connected to a murder plot that stretches back nearly two years before Janell Carwell, their daughter, went missing.

(As if the case wasn't heinous enough already. They were looking to kill her for at least a couple of years?!)

And a short article that has the amended court documents (also from 2020):

So what I am getting from this is - Leon likely abused Janelle for years and her mom knew about it.

When they felt like she might tell someone, they decided to hire a person to take her out. How awful.

This is one of those cases where the perps should be locked away, never to see the light of day again. Instead it drags on, giving them years of leniency so far.

Wow it seems like the defense team has moved to exclude everything. The arrest warrant, photographs, witness testimony, interviews, cell phone location data...And they've asked for a hearing to determine the admissibility of the "similar acts" evidence, which is the info in the April filing about the couple allegedly plotting/attempting to hire a hit prior times going back two years.

Does either case have a trial date set? These are trial motions but it's going to take forever to hear them all.
