The thought of an innocent little boy like Quinton being left in a landfill and disposed of like literal garbage makes my heart ache. This world makes no sense at times.

Sorry, but I have no sympathy for grandma. If she was "drug out of the house" by two friends "to get her some peace', first of all, I wouldn't think they would have invited LS along for the trip. Also, 'some peace' would probably better be gotten at a quiet little restaurant sitting in a corner booth. It wouldn't be gotten by being the loudest group in a bar, by hitting on the staff, and trying to get phone number of the waiter, while tossing back $300 worth of tequila during a 3-hour binge.

Sorry about the protesters at her home, but other than the LE digging through garbage looking for her grandson, they are about the only ones showing concern for little Quinton. If I could be there, I would join them. JMO
Agreed.
I was going to add ; I highly doubt that first day he was reported missing, that LE told them not to search ?
Even before LE were called, did any neighbor notice LS or BJH outside, looking ?
Why did they tell the babysitter she wasn't needed to help search ?

Eta : When BJH arrived home, did she immediately look for Quinton ?
If there was already crime scene tape up as she mentioned in the first interview, did she go to neighbors' homes asking if they'd seen him ?
Just seems like there was little if any effort to find Quinton.

This happened early that day and I also doubt that LE would've told LS and BJH to tell the sitter she wasn't wanted to help search, either.
This is all to say that quite a lot went on before LE stepped in.
They (LE) are not to blame for BJH's stress.
She had plenty of time to look for her grandson.
Grrr !

The first day he was missing, DJH was out of state on a job. Per timeline on Websleuths.

I don't see it as a deliberate attempt to mislead; I don't think she is intelligent enough to think of that. I view her saying he is "one" as ignorance/very low IQ/lack of functioning brain due to drug use; a very literal and simple answer as opposed to a more nuanced one that people with even a slight understanding of child development would use. Moo.
Exactly. I agree. Not only that, has the 911 call been released?? I was under the understanding only the dispatch call had been released? We don't know what LS said, we just know dispatch said the child was one. Maybe that was something done by the dispatch officer, their job involves getting to the point and the main details without the extra?? Maybe not?? We just don't know at this point. Unless the 911 call has been released and LS has already been heard saying he's only one years old.

She would simply think he is one till he’s two. IMO.
Exactly what I was thinking.

Since I do not and never have frequented pubs or bars, I can't visualize what would possess them to do that. I've experienced a 'missing' child before twice. Thankfully mine were found very soon, maybe a couple hours. But that short time span felt like a couple of days to me... the agony, dread and fear.... it;s overwhelming. I never want to go through that again!!

I’d consider StingRays to be a restaurant with a bar. (Longhorn, Chili’s, Pappadeaux as examples) I remember it as good food with a pleasant outdoor deck, not a drinking only no food icehouse.
I’d rather my friends pack a few snacks and go sit by the water or on a pier and have some quiet time with me when dealing with a family death or tragedy.

Missing a child for only a few moments can be paralyzing panic and fear.

I hope the mom and grandma are forced to pay back money used to search for Quinton's body. LE had to take money from a school camera fund to help fund the search.

I like Chief Hadley. It is sad to take funds from any project but he is dedicated to justice for Q.

Is there a reason you keep using the initials DJH instead of BJH? Just wondering.

i hope they do. They issue an insane amount of tickets on those & I would be glad to see them used for something like this.

just makes me so freaking mad..... do they care? This dysfunctional family know stuff.
And yet, the expenses in this horrific search just kills this town or county..............

bolding mine.
Oh my goodness !
I honestly did not consider this possibility.

If they know he is not at that landfill and were drinking and flirting at the bar, then -- it was more like a celebration.
As if someone pulled the wool over the cop's and investigators' eyes.
To smile and rack up a 300. $ tab , if you know Quinton has been concealed somewhere else ?
Chilling.

I'd gone there, but I'm still hoping I'm wrong, and that they're just overconfident. I really, really hope that WHATEVER the police find or have found already is enough to charge someone. If he's not found, and they don't have enough? Then the people who did this get away with it. :(

I don't read anything into Leilani not being charged yet. She is not a flight risk and I do believe LE is keeping a close eye on her.

I think LE is waiting until they find Q's remains to charge her. As well, I do think LE probably has enough to charge her now, but they are wisely and patiently waiting to build an even stronger case.

Prayers for both Quinton and the searchers that he will be found soon and his remains be properly put to rest.

I'm sorry, just a typo, although I didn't know I keep using the initials DJH? I usually use gma. MOO

Sorry the protesters at her home are stressing her, but other than the LE digging through garbage looking for her grandson, they, and the media, are about the only ones showing concern for little Quinton. If I could be there, I would join them. JMO
Snipped by me.

Where does it end though? These aren't your everyday protestors, these are "content creators" who feel they have a right to invade people's privacy, and can often encroach not just on a suspects property but a whole neighbourhood.

They appear to pick and choose who to harass based on their own judgement and what case is attracting the most media attention.

Justice will be served for Quinton, but not by protestors. I believe they serve no purpose in these cases and can hinder an investigation.

All my own opinion of course.

ETA: This article mentions a couple of the protestors.

Yes, I agree that the "content creators" have no business being there, and I wonder how sincere their motives are, but I have no problem with neighbors or average citizens showing up in support of the arrest of those who are named as suspect in the death of this precious child, as the house has become a memorial site already anyway. I honestly doubt that at least some of the neighbors are any more disgusted with the protesters than they are with the resident. JMO

Right. Any good detective will tell you, it's not what you know that counts it's what you can prove. If they rush to judgement too quickly they stand a good chance of losing, and they only get one shot.

I understand people paying their respects to Quinton in regards to a memorial site, but of what benefit is it to have average citizens loitering around waiting to pounce on the family?

Surely their time could be better served elsewhere. Organising fundraisers perhaps. Providing refreshments for the searchers at the landfill. Organising a memorial service, for all the community members to come together and show their support and love for Quinton. The list goes on..

We should never advocate for the accused to pay for the investigation. Plus, please do not forget that as of now, Grandmother Billie Jo Howell is a victim. MOO
