I thought she brought up “sl… shaming” because her own attorney called her one
She did, it was a clear response to Hilliard.

Whatever the reason, the entire phrase is just antiquated and it would have served the prosecution to not address it at all. Take the high road.

She only called DY. She didn't call the police. She hadn't woken PS. She hadn't called the babysitter.

"That was the whole point, to get Danny's attention."

It's not the fault of the state we can't prove how he died. It's because she ensured his body was decimated.

"under the law, defendants are not rewarded for that."

Says they ruled out every other possibility, including overdose.

Says DY's reactions were honest. That he didn't run away, he left to escape media hounding, and did so with the full knowledge of law enforcement. They still had regular contact with him and the phone tap.

She asks the jury to give Quinton the justice he deserves, and LS the justice she deserves.

Lunch until 2:15 (2:45 with delay).

Laughing out loud at myself. I kept calling LS defense atty Owens, forgetting that Owens is Sara Boone's attorney and not LS.

Too may trials this week, head is spinning.

Oh well regardless of his name, defense attorney did his best IMO but dang he had next to nothing to work with

Yeah, if she's convicted, she won't be able to argue that he didn't try.

No worries, I think we all knew what you meant. So much to keep track of!

And they're back.

I might have missed it so I'll ask here. Did Leilani's mother testify? was she even in the courtroom?

Jury is coming in for instruction.

They are currently being instructed.

Judge is getting ready.

I know some people probably think a court should be all srs bsnss, but I have appreciated her warmth and connection with everyone, as I did with Judge Werner in Gannon's trial.

Jury returning.

yes, I loved this judge and her staff. Judge was relatable, made everyone comfortable, the opposite of imposing, while still being professional, knowledgeable, and even handed in her rulings. MOO she's a rockstar.

She's beginning the jury instructions. Reading the counts in the indictment and LS's plea. Neither are evidence.

Innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Burden of proof is always with the state. This never shifts.

Giving the definition of reasonable doubt. It has to have a basis.

I know some people other places complained she took a lot of breaks, but the substance of this case was done in eight days! And I think I could count the sidebars on one hand for the whole thing. We didn't have a dark day in court either, just occasionally later start times or early finishes.

I'm not going to summarise all of this technical instruction, folks, I'm tired, and I've got those 'oh gosh, it's in the hands of the jury' nerves. I've been in recovery for chronic nail biting for years now, but I'm remembering why I used to.
