GUILTY GA - Sam Poss, 18, Perry, 15 Oct 2016 *Arrests*

And yet I feel like I need to know them (details)

I think that for many of us, we want to know so we can try to make some sense out of these senseless acts!

Holy cow, Sam was a black belt in Tai Kwon Do! I hope he got a few real good hits in.
I'm so angry now.

Hmmmmm so I have a few questions:

Did they pre-dig the shallow grave (premeditation) or do it there after they killed (still would have needed a shovel, so still premeditation)?

Was a shovel recovered? Was that maybe what was thrown in the pond?

Interesting that there wasn't a murder weapon, supposedly... or they aren't looking for one? Maybe they already found that evidence?

I wonder what time the car went back by, or if it ever did. Maybe they went a different route home. I wonder what other evidence of them driving around will be on video.

I agree JadeSleuth. I really think these two pukes committed a thrill kill. I'm really afraid to hear the details. It's going to be very bad I think.

I agree. 'Thrill Kill' were the first words to come to mind when these two came up :(

To me it sounds like they may have recovered a weapon since they weren't searching for one. As for the grave, good question.

And I don't know about any of you, but the guy who took a snapshot of "the grave" after he put a cross there, that's way creepy and even disgusting. I'm so surprised, was it taped off? Did he sneak in? If LE was done, they should replace the earth, I've seen them do it in other cases if the spot was accessable to the public. Ghoulish is the word I was looking for.

I wondered if the man who shared the picture was the one who added the cross etc. I have the vibe that this man is very affected by this all. While it doesn't seem to be the most tasteful thing (posting the grave picture), I do feel like he is trying to process something that has affected him profoundly, without considering how it may be perceived. Just thoughts MOO

Dear JadeSleuth,

Thank you so much for sharing this information, especially this part:

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the Sam Poss Memorial Scholarship Fund that will be created for a percussionist student each year.

You're so welcome.

Here are preliminary autopsy results, just two sentences here and nothing we didn't really already know.

Crying for Sam and his family. :( How can friends be so cruel to each other. This seems to happen so much more often now. I'm jaded when I hear a kid has gone missing under weird circumstances. I automatically think the worst.
My prayers are with Sam's loved ones. Fly high Sam!

From the link:

Samuel Poss, 18, was strangled to death, according to Perry police Capt. Heath Dykes. Poss also suffered stab wounds to the front torso, Dykes said.

So I guess they stabbed him and when that didn't kill him strangled him. Oh poor Sam, I'm so sorry, what a terrible way to go!

Stabbing is messy. There must have been blood evidence all over the perps and car.

BBM I hope that's all it was.

I got a different impression. I don't wish to be graphic but I suspect they "stabbed" him after strangling him. Like some sick ritualistic practice. :(
I'm guessing this based on the brief glimpse of the perps' social media and also the press conference where I recall LE said those arrested could face more charges in addition to murder.

I thought they stabbed him first too, but that is only based on one of them posting that awful thing about stabbing someone and watching the life go out of them... :(

With regard to charges I was thinking more along the line of forcible confinement and possibly kidnapping.

I am hoping that authorities are able to charge them with as many charges as they legally can.

The following is ONLY my opinion but I do believe, under these circumstances, that it will be a charge for both:

There is the strong possibility of them both receiving a "dangerous offender" status under the following C.C.:

Application for finding that an offender is a dangerous offender

753 (1) On application made under this Part after an assessment report is filed under subsection 752.1(2), the court shall find the offender to be a dangerous offender if it is satisfied

(a) that the offence for which the offender has been convicted is a serious personal injury offence described in paragraph (a) of the definition of that expression in section 752 and the offender constitutes a threat to the life, safety or physical or mental well-being of other persons on the basis of evidence establishing

(i) a pattern of repetitive behaviour by the offender, of which the offence for which he or she has been convicted forms a part, showing a failure to restrain his or her behaviour and a likelihood of causing death or injury to other persons, or inflicting severe psychological damage on other persons, through failure in the future to restrain his or her behaviour,

(ii) a pattern of persistent aggressive behaviour by the offender, of which the offence for which he or she has been convicted forms a part, showing a substantial degree of indifference on the part of the offender respecting the reasonably foreseeable consequences to other persons of his or her behaviour, or

(iii) any behaviour by the offender, associated with the offence for which he or she has been convicted, that is of such a brutal nature as to compel the conclusion that the offender’s behaviour in the future is unlikely to be inhibited by normal standards of behavioural restraint; ...(continued...)

I am still in shock about the murder of Sam Poss. I know that we all are.

I tell myself that the main thing right now is that the two are in custody right now because they continue to be a dangerous threat but most of all -
for justice for Sam.

I try not to start "if only's" but it is so very difficult. Especially in this case.

I tend to focus more on criminal charges, trials, and most especially forensic behavior. Thus, I don't join conversations about the measurements
of wounds or autopsy details. This is just me.

I am not a lawyer . The fields of criminal law and behavior interest me and I have a good understanding of both, as do you.

Perhaps we can have a different thread, for example, "legal" as opposed to "wounds". I would certainly appreciate it if we could!

I hope they throw the books at them. Imho this was very premeditated by two sick individuals. Poor sweet Sam didn't even see it coming I'm sure. Praying for his family and loved ones! 😞

Abduction is a charge I was also thinking about - if it can be proven in Court that fraud was involved - and it sounds as if it was!

Kidnapping or forcible confinement likely will be another charge.

I agree, PositiveLight, I hope and pray that every possible charge can be used against them.
