So had the trial already begun when they pled guilty? Maybe they heard all the evidence against them and realized they had no chance? I don't think it was motivated by sudden remorse or any moral responsibility.
Wonder if one had to convince the other or if both were equally for it? AFAIK, they wouldn't be allowed to communicate with each other, so I just wonder how that worked out. Like whose idea it was, etc. Wonder if their lawyers suggested it to them, or if they were taken by surprise...
