I wish CNN and HLN would stop talking about the defense waiving their right to the prelim hearing. It is making me nervous :giggle:

Can someone explain what that 3 handed clock is supposed to mean? Maybe I'm dense, but it makes no sense to me.

OMG we have a youngter in the group :giggle: That is a second hand

I know people keep bringing up that LH was out of town... not sure where that rumor came from but from everything I have seen, it's just a rumor. If LH stated that Cooper had slept with them for the 2 nights prior, unless she went out of town that morning? I don't think so. I don't think that RH would have said to LE that he had made plans with friends after work if LH was out of town. I just don't buy it.

Also, I've seen people asking why LH didn't call since she would have picked Cooper up early, as she only worked part time. Part time does not mean "works until 1", especially in nutrition... many take afternoon or evening appointments, so she easily could have worked 12-5, 1-6, etc. It seemed whatever the reason, it was easiest for RH to take Cooper to daycare and LH picked him up. RH may have even left work early as to avoid LH getting to the daycare to discover he wasn't there. It also explains why RH was planning to meet with friends, if LH and Cooper didn't usually arrive home until later...

I would LOVE to see a pin at the top of each of these threads with the information that is known and has been reported by LE, and known interviews, etc. It seems like the same things are getting repeated day after day for the last few weeks, but the rumors are what throw a lot of people off. Case in point, the debate over "in the days before vs the day before", LOL... that went on for pages and pages, and it was simply a mistake. Someone will come in late, see it and then it starts over. I know that's how these things go... but since there has been very little actual information released, it seems this case has a lot more emotion, innuendo, rumors, etc. than many. I know that a few in the early threads were posting every so often with the actual information we knew at the time. But I also know that at the rate this is moving, that is nearly impossible. And I'm just thinking out loud :p

I'm looking for a CNN or HLN live feed link too. Can't find it unless it will only be televised.

When does it make sense to waive the preliminary hearing?
Answer:
A defendant may decide, after consulting with counsel, to waive the prelim. This allows the case to proceed to trial (though not immediately). The reasons the defense might waive the right to a preliminary hearing include:
The defendant intends to plead guilty and wants to avoid publicity (and expense, if the defendant is represented by private counsel).
The defendant is guilty of more than the charged offenses and fears further charges from the potentially damning evidence that may come out at the preliminary hearing. Also, if the facts of the case are particularly nasty, and the defendant plans to plead guilty anyway, the less the sentencing judge hears about the facts, the better for the defendant.
The prosecution’s case is strong, and the defense fears that prosecution witnesses may become so entrenched in their positions once they testify under oath at a prelim that they may become angry (or angrier) with the defendant and possibly refuse later interviews requested by the defense as it prepares for trial.
The prosecution intends to call witnesses at the prelim who may be unavailable at the time of trial. If the prelim goes forward, this testimony will be available in the form of transcripts from the prelim for the prosecution to use at trial. By waiving the prelim, the defendant may prevent the testimony from coming in when trial time rolls around.
The defendant wants to stall in the hopes that by the time the case comes to trial, the prosecution’s witnesses will have either disappeared, forgotten, or become confused about what happened during the alleged crime. In this situation, the defense may waive the prelim and move for several continuances (delays) of the trial date.

I would like to know who got Cooper ready in the morning? What time did Cooper wake up that morning? When did LH leave for work and how did she get to work? Was there a baby bag ready and was it in RH's car?

LH remembers sleeping with Cooper in her bed and his lips but what was her last moment with Cooper that moring? Did she kiss him? She doesn't talk about that at all at the funeral. JMO

the media thread is the best place to sort fact from fiction on a case but it is only as useful as we make it by filling it with all those articles, quotes, maps and videos.

Good morning friends. Looks like I have time to grab something to eat and have some coffee before the hearing.

I agree. But some people are different. I would think Cooper would come up in texts throughout the day. When my kids were younger my husband would always call me at lunch time. Now that he has a busier job he might call or text. He would communicate if he went out and ask how we are doing. And I can contact him whenever now. Times have changed so much easier to keep track of what we are all doing.

I totally agree - when mine were Cooper's age - we talked several times a day and this was before texting and smart phones. Every sniffle or new tooth was discussed numerous times at home and at work during lunch or breaks.

I cannot imagine my dh going out with friends without at least touching base with me - and especially (if it's true) to a movie which would take a couple of hours. (BTW has the movie been mentioned anywhere else except NG?)

Less than 3 hours to go - Hope those of you there aren't having to stand out in the hot sun!!! Thanks for being our eyes and ears :)

I can't imagine leaving a child in a car. Last year in the heat of the summer in FL I was at grocery store and heard a dog barking in a car. Went through parking lot looking for it. Found him in a SUV windows partial down very partial I could stick my hand in car, couldn't quite reach the lock or I was going to open the door. Instead I went in looking for owner. Got in a huge argument of them leaving dog in 100 degree plus car. Young daughter was very apologetic, mother just wanted to get the he77 out of there and other older daughter told me to mind my own business, "it's just a dog"! When she told me that I come unglued. I had several people out in parking lot backing me up about leaving animal in over heated car, store manager even come out. They finally drove off. What I couldn't understand there were 3 of them why 1 couldn't stay in car with dog and AC on? Things people do, drive me insane![emoji36]

I had a similar experience a few years ago in a Walmart Parking lot. While I waited for the police I took my water bottle and kept throwing water on the dog through the cracked window. The police officer had just opened the door (very quickly and efficiently with some specific device) when the dog's owner came up. She was livid that I had gotten her car seats wet and started yelling at me. Of course I told her exactly what I thought of her.

Unfortunately, the officer told me all he could do was ticket her, which he did, but he could only do that because the dog was in obvious distress, panting very heavily. He also told me that, unfortunately, the ticket would almost certainly be dismissed if she fought it.
