Would they still put up crime scene tape for a strictly vehicular accident?
Crime scene tape will go up anytime they want restriction to the area to gather evidence or prevent persons from entering due to hazards. Doesn't necessarily mean a "crime" was committed. The "crime scene" tape can also be used to prevent citizens from coming in contact with a hazard such as downed power lines, gas leaks, fuel spill, fire scenes, car accidents, etc.

Sgt. Jack Redlinger with The Newton County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicle in the woods had “similarities to Yolanda’s vehicle,” but would not comment on what investigators found inside the car.

Georgia State Patrol later confirmed to CBS46 on Monday night there was a body inside the vehicle.

In an e-mail from GSP, a public information officer said troopers were called to the scene after GBI agents found the driver in the car off I-20 deceased. A Specialized Collision and Reconstruction Team (SCRT) was called to the scene.

The Newton County Sheriff’s office declined to comment on if there is any foul play suspected or any persons of interest.

Georgia Department of Transportation has shut down one westbound lane ahead of rush hour as authorities investigate near exit 92, not far from Brown's residence. Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents are at the scene.

Brown had been seen leaving the parking lot at the Irish Bred Pub along Virginia Avenue in Hapeville in the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 3.

Westbound is opposite direction from the way she should have been traveling if headed home. I live in Newton County. Something isn't right... I don't believe this will turn out to be an auto accident. I've passed that spot more than once since she went missing :(

Is there a solid barrier that divides the highway; preventing vehicles from crossing onto the other side of traffic? If no barrier, could she have swerved or had some sort of accident that spun her car onto the other side of the highway?

Yes. Concrete wall. The spot they found her car is just past the west bound on ramp at Alcovy Road. I do see there's damage in the photo posted above...something just seems off to me.

“She always wants to be someone’s friend, and I am 100% convinced that her friend-making is what led to her being missing right now,” said Mickie Nutall, Brown’s sister.

Her sons say after going through her phone records, they were able to contact the man in the SUV.

The man allegedly told Brown’s son he was following Brown back to her Covington home but lost sight of her while traveling.

“He said he lost her on the expressway. I don’t really believe none of that,” Doughty said.
Hapeville police returned to the bar Tuesday afternoon to review the surveillance video.

he might have lost sight of her because she left the roadway. If impaired in anyway it might not have registered to him what happened. The only scenario where someone harmed her when they found her in a wrecked car off the expressway, would be if someone was chasing her or following her and she was scared? IDK I get the feeling this was just an unfortunate accident.

I have felt from the beginning he had nothing to do with it.

She was heading in the wrong direction to be leaving the bar and headed home. I don't see how he could have followed her that far.

My husband and I went to the scene. It almost seems like maybe she missed her exit, got off the interstate and back on headed west and wrecked. Maybe she was disoriented. If she suffered from lupus and PTSD, she may have been having trouble. There was not a lot of evidence on the side of the roadway that a car had wrecked.

I agree although it seems odd, I think it was an unfortunate accident. But, I never felt the guy she met had anything to do with it. If he meant ill intention toward her, why follow her to a county he knew nothing about when he could have led her farther away.
