This picture has always bothered me. First the outfit is rather low cut. She appears to have eye makeup on, and they appear to be in the bathroom or laundry room, (according to all the dirty clothes on the floor.) I know, little girls LOVE to play dress-up, but I have to wonder if this picture wasn't supposed to get out. I've not seen it anywhere but here, (that doesn't mean anything though).

It looks like she also has on lots of mascara on the lashes. How on earth did an adult get her to sit still to get all of that on? A child would have it smeared all around the eyes if Madeline applied it herself.

If this is true then we may be close to hearing the truth! I had a feeling this would happen!

So who is it? Tanner? O'Brien? Oldfield? Payne? I suppose it has to be either Tanner & O'Brien or Oldfield & Payne? Cannot decide who myself! If O'Brien & tanner are involved then maybe they are going for some sort of immunity, they seem to have been under the most strain!

It would be very interesting to know who wants to correct and/or clarify their statement and what details are changed or clarified. This could be something minor or something very significant. Unfortunately, the unnamed sources-based press reports have been so contradictory, I doubt we'll really know any time soon.

Don't get your hopes up too high, colomom. It could just be people drilling down times or giving more detail. It could even be "clarifying" earlier statements in a way that makes all of the Tapas 9's statements more consistent -- explaining away earlier inconsistencies.

That said, if other members of the group were involved in a cover-up, I doubt they will be able to remain silent indefinitely. In conspiracies, some one always ends up blabbing. Then the whole thing unravels. If the other 7 all stick to their stories, I will be inclined to believe them.

well for the sake of all our sanity I hope that this latest report is genuine and we can maybe get closer to some sort of breakthrough

The only note of caution I have is

The mail article is based on unnamed ( as always ) report from a Spanish Newspaper - how they have got this latest info is beyond me - but maybe they have - though If I was one of the Tapas who is about to change my police statement I would be keeping things well and truly to my chest and dealing strictly with my lawyer

The " keep things anonymous is interesting "- At the end of the day if this is a major breakthrough then it will have to be an official statement - probably under a police caution - recorded . It cant just be done on a nod and a wink .

I can understand that whoever this might be is probably worried about the media storm that willl descend - but eventualy these things will all be revealed .

As Emery says it all depends on what this about turn is - if atall - If it is a major change that then blows the whole case open and implicates the Mccanns then there will be serious questions asked why they left it 6 months - unless there is now some serious plea bargaining going on behind the scenes

I really do find it impossible to get my hopes up too high, been dissapointed to many times. This one is definitely filed in the "wait and see" folder.

At the 6 month vigil last week, the 1/4 hour from 9:30-9:45 was observed as the time Madeleine was taken. I would say that indicates that the McCanns are distancing themselves from Tanner and OBrien.

Her abductor sighting just doesn't fit with their version of what happened- does anyone believe that a stranger walked within a few yards of Tanner, and Gerry, and Wilkins, carrying Madeleine?

The Tanner/OBriens want to get their stories straight with LE before they are further shoved by the McCanns. IMO And the story said lawyers, rather than lawyer. If they each have a lawyer, the plot thickens. If this story is true, that is!

I don't think it is just clarifying times or something simple like that. They want to remain anonymous for fear of pressure from the McCanns, therefore I think it is safe to presume that it is something that will implicate them!

Wel if we believe that O'Brien & Tanner are involved it may well be Oldfield & Payne, remember the article says two of the 9. However, I have a feeling that it may all just be too much for O'Brien & Tanner (reports about their health) & it may be them going for immunity! It will be interesting to see if they return to Portugal or give evidence in UK. My bets are on UK if they are guilty!

One thing for sure I knew that if all was well & innocent with the group, the Tapas 7 would have been at that memorial service for Madeleine!

I personally think if anyone is changing their story, it will be 2 women in the group...and probably an older and wiser one. My guess is that Dianne Webster , and her daughter Fiona Payne are about to crack. They seem the most likely. Mrs. Webster has not given any public statements, which tells me she has the most common sence. I bet she convinced her daughter to "tell all" so they can get on with their life.

That is hilarious...the McCanns did exactly what these 2 supposedly feared...put pressure on them. Do you really think they are going to confess to Clarence it was them, when they are anonymously doing this to avoid conflict with Clarence?...How dumb do these people think we are?

One thing that needs tio happen - the Police in both countries need to get hold of this case and fast - they need to move and pull out the stops to end this daily speculation that has been going on for months now

Get the DNA results in - make some decisions - if people need to be interviewed than get it done
