Subject: RE: Abaroa case question

I know... I wish there was more to report! We went to Va. 2 weeks ago and did an exclusive interview with Janet's family. But, as far as the investigation goes... it's moving very slowly! If I find out anything though, we'll be sure to get it on the news.
SEE! THAT infuriates me actually. Find out ANYTHING? Hello? Do your job and dig a little. Or, come here and get some "exclusive" information to report.

Investigative reporters should do just that - INVESTIGATE.

-Run a story about WHY there is no movement in this case.
-Run a story about the embezzlement charges, and if they link in any way to this case.
-Run a story about various alternative theories on what happened.
-Run a story where you interview friends, co-workers, etc., about the Abaroas.
-Run a story that investigates the financial difficulties the Abaroas were dealing with.
-Run a story about unsolved murders in Durham.
-Try and get an interview with Raven Abaroa.
-Push LE for more information. If there are NO suspects, then why don't they ask the public for help? It was reported that the citizens of Durham had nothing to worry about. Get LE to explain that statement. If they are awaiting lab results, etc., then get them to just SAY that.
-Hell, run a story ABOUT WebSleuths, and their DAILY investigations of this case.

But do SOMETHING.

Janet deserves justice, and a voice.
Kaiden deserves justice for his mother, that he will never know.
And if indeed Raven is not a POI, and is proven innocent, then yes, Raven deserves justice for his wife.

The Abaroas may not have been the wealthy and socially connected Sapikowski's of neighboring Chapel Hill ( and don't misunderstand me, I don't belittle ANY of the reporting done locally on that case, at all)....

BUT, the Abaroas were a young family. In Durham. A man, his wife, and their six-month old child.

And one of them was violently murdered, over six weeks ago - Janet.

And she is just as important as any other citizen. And she deserves attention and she deserves justice.

All of that said - I have no doubt that there is countless amounts of information about this case of which we have no knowledge. God, I hope so anyway. I have to believe in my heart that LE wants justice for Janet as well. I want to believe that those hardworking folks are doing everything in their power to find the person(s) responsible for Janet's death.

But I do believe that local media could be doing a much better job at pursuing this crime. They do it doggedly everyday with other cases.

One day I look forward to opening the newspaper, turning on the news, getting online - somewhere, some method, and seeing/hearing - a suspect has been arrested in the death of Janet Abaroa!

Until that day, I'll just keep digging along. Venting my frustrations. And, doing my part to focus any attention whatsoever on one person -

JANET ABAROA

4) Media link are just that...links to media sources. Blogs are not media sources.
I disagree but I respect your position as moderator. I would still like a link to Mr. AG's blogs since they do contain helpful information and they are the reason a whole lot of people found this forum in the first place. Can we post Mr. AG's blogs under their own thread?

There are links to his site all over this forum. He has the link in his siggy. The only place they cannot be is under media. Thats why I just dont understand the all the hurt feelings on this.

If we say his blog is media...then ALL blogs must be considered media. Thats a dangerous way to go IMO.

I'm impressed, very well stated SES. Maybe your post will give any visiting reporters some ideas. (I need a crossing fingers icon)

Timex, perhaps it has to do with timing and tone. The links were there all along and did not become an issue until yesterday. The tone, well, the tone was abrupt. A line thrown in like ... "WS has a policy that we do not link blogs as media at this time. We appreciate Misterallgood bringing this case to WS attention, and I would be more than happy to start a thread where we can discuss his blogs if ya'll would be interested." ... would have gone a long way.

I know it is very important to you to be fair. Fair doesn't have to mean discourteous or dismissive of another's efforts. I know you yourself put in a lot of time and effort into moderating. Moderating is an important function that keeps us all playing nicely together.

Again, I think you are misreading my tone. I dont get personal with any of the members...simply state rules. There really is no tone when one says "blogs are not media"

I realize that, but I guess maybe it's my laziness coming out. I wanted to link only the posts regarding Janet Abaroa. Then each time I want to check something I don't have to look for his posts then look through his site to find the information.

If I allow a thread for his blog...I will have to allow any blogger that asks for a thread to have one. I cannot put one blogger above another. I cannot put one internet site above another.

Okay, I just deleted mine. I thought it was said that we can put it anywhere except under media. So I'm confused. Oh well.

I started a thread for Misc links. But understand...any blogger that wishes their site to be listed will have the right to do so.

Except it wasn't explained to us that it WS policy. No one knew whether this was an arbitrary deal.

I promise not to be so thin-skinned, but ya gotta know me well enough by now that my little feelings are hurt!

When my kids get to fussin' like this I insist we have a "do over". So, I'd like to call a "do over" and start over again. I'm tired of reloading and no one posting.

Can we have a generic blog thread for this case, and anyone who wishes to blog on this case can and link there and we be free to discuss it there. In an orderly fashion (I'm thinking of PFM here, she likes to keep things tidy around our forum.)

ETA: I see it's been done ... thank you!

Okay, so let's change the subject ... anyone see the snow in Utah and the severe storms in North Carolina? Think it could be a sign?

Lol, thanks I needed that. And you never know. It's been unusually wet and cold in Utah.

Glad to break the tension, and get us all back to bein' friends! :blowkiss:

So what's the main focus right now? Have we gotten all of the nc_vx posts? There's also the issue of the pawn shop. The alleged assault on the soccer referee that we haven't been able to verify. I'm drawing a blank ... what else is hanging open that we might be able to investigate further?

I'm betting there's a few more VX posts out there... I cna't search that site very well. It looks a little like this one but is a mess, I think. This ones seems more organized.

We still need to search online dating sites :)
