IMO, they knew from early on that it was potentially a homicide investigation. They did not have the proof so held off on classifying it as homicide as a missing child allowed them to have assistance from other agencies. The minute they classified the case as homicide, the missing child response teams would not longer be available to help investigate.

The reason I think they suspected it was homicide is that on March 5, 2009, it was reported that:

"On Wednesday, anyone who had been inside the Cummings' home was asked to give a DNA sample. Police called it a routine part of their investigation."

http://www.cbs12.com/news/haleigh-4715335-cummings-time.html

Wednesday would be March 4, 2009. So a month after Haleigh disappeared, LE requested DNA. DNA is too expensive to be routine. Usually, LE asks for fingerprints to rule out those prints that should be there in the hope they find "strange" prints. They must have had evidence of something fluid and/or blood related to ask for DNA.

IMO, LE only claimed it was a "routine" part of the investigation to get people to voluntarily submit to DNA testing as they did not have enough "evidence" to get a warrant for DNA from anyone who had been inside. So they requested people "volunteer" DNA. I wish we knew if anyone refused to give a voluntary DNA sample.

I also wish we knew what they found that made them want to test "anybody who had been in the Cummings' home" for DNA.

1Chump, that makes a lot of sense to me. Thank you.

Was not sure where to post this article. It does not say who/what LE is searching for, but the fact that Ron goes for sentencing in 3 days made me wonder if LE was searching this lake in the Haleigh case. Not that they said they were, just thinking and hoping is all.

And how far is that away from Putnam County?

I don't trust LE down there or anything they say they are searching for or have found....IJMHO

Oh, Magj....I hope so. I hope they find whatever it is that their looking for. do you know how far away this place is from Satsuma? There has been quite a few river searches since Haleigh has gone missing. I hope that it is connected.

JMO of course

Gun Found In Lake May Be Linked To Murder Case

Video Report at link above.
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A bizarre murder mystery at an Orange County lake Tuesday. Investigators recovered a gun from Lake Underhill but they won't say how it got there, who tipped them off or whose murder they're investigating.

Investigators started to wrap things up late Tuesday afternoon, but they gave no answers to the many questions WFTV asked.

Investigators won't talk about what case the weapon might be involved with, but the search continued all day, even after the gun was found.

The East-West Expressway runs right over the lake. The road, boat ramp, docks and shoreline are throwing distance. A source close to the investigation told WFTV Tuesday the search is part of a homicide investigation.

There are several unsolved murders locally and missing persons cases like Jennifer Kesse and Tracy Ocasio, but no one would say what homicide investigation the search was for.

Thanks, I just mapped it too... About 90 miles...
Who in the family would have had time to take a trip to Orlando right after Haleigh's disappearance.. I do realize it could have been put there at a later date too IF by chance it is found to be in someway connected to Haleigh..JMHO...

On 11-06-08, when Haleigh was injured at school. We only see one line of her medical record. it says her nose has a small cut. They contacted her grandmother and the grandmother said she would send somebody. Is that because Teresa N. does not live anywhere near the school. Where was Haleigh's father? I suggest hiding and not wanting to go or his mother told him to stay put. .

....Tn seems to be in the habit of calling somebody to take care of the problem...my reasoning is that she lived 80 miles away. Her home is 10 minutes away and she probably waited a long time for pick up. They couldn't take a chance of ron going and showing his true self, so gramma had to handle the problem.

...When ron is notified of anything involving any authority, does he immediately call his mother first? Is that the procedure? Two things I suspect. 1. his mother is called first and makes the decisions. 2. Ron keeps far away from police and school authorities. I believe his mother speaks for him, covers for him, and always has.

..I want to see the two lines that were redacted. I wonder who did pick her up...misty?

So did the same thing happen on Feb09. Did ron call his mother and she set things in motion, once again? IDK, anymore, this case is really not a case but a jumble of alibis, lies and deceit.

Nothing but a pack of liars. I wonder if they've all lied so much that they have to sit around & remind themselves of what the truth really is. I wonder if any of them besides 1, even knows the full story. I think they all lie for their own reasons. It's the only thing that makes any sense at all. There's no way that all of these people feel this much loyalty to another person. not for Ron, not for Misty, not for Tommy. They're all looking out for their own precious hides. I wouldn't really expect the Croslins to feel a deep love for Haleigh, because they barely knew her, but I would expect them to do right by a child. So, when I think about Lindsey wanting to move, to get away from the predator, or Chelsea getting that foot tattoo, (turned her into a fashion statement), I get mad. & when I think about TN saying that Misty dragged Ron's butt into this, I get mad. Ron dragged his own butt into this, & he dragged Misty's right along with it. & he dragged Haleigh into something, that she was too little & defenseless to do anything about. & in my gut, I know that even if Ron didn't hurt Haleigh, he knows what happened, & he's still responsible. & TN knows too, IMO. You're right. She's probably the 1st person he called, & she took charge. I can't help but think that while she was covering for Ron, a killer was getting away with murder. Was it Ron? Misty? Tommy? somebody else? whoever it was, he/she can thank TN for so many months of freedom. MOO.

I've been thinking about how serial killers get started. It's MOO, that if this wasn't an accident, & I don't guess it was, that whoever did it, would likely do it again...if he was sure he/she was in the clear. So after a couple of years, another little kid might've wound up dead. So, I guess it's good that these 3 are in jail. MOO.

This whole time I have been convinced Haleigh's death was an accident, I never once considered it could have been a murder. Your post made me take that in as a possibility, and it gave me chills.

I know I have asked this several times, where does RC former roomate live? I just find it odd that he just "disappeared" from this event. I would think he would be "so" interested in the results of this because of the closeness, wouldn't there be a bond between him and the kids? Supposedly he was RC's best friend and we know of no other friends of RC. just wondering .... (as I sit here trying to remember his name, "Orlando" rings a bell - is that a nickname? is he from there? ???)

I didn't know Orlando T was a former roomate..that is interesting. Do you know where they lived?

Ron told Cobra that Orlando doesn't deal drugs, that people have him confused with another Orlando with the same last name and just a few numbers off on his SSN.

Orlando vanished after the first week...never heard from again. Gads, I wonder what info he has. He and Nay should have lots. Apparently LE thought Nay did since she must have accumulated many, many charges AFTER Haleigh. They wanted her in there and wanted to hear what she had to say. I bet they questioned OT a lot too but kept it quiet.

Nay and OT are flying way below the radar these days.

didn't Ron and Misty take a little vaykay and brought Junior to Disneyland?

As most know, I'm certanily not a fan of Ronald Cummings however I will never ever believe he intentionally set out to kill his daughter ..Just like I don't believe Misty,Tommy or Jo killed Haleigh either eventhough it seems all the focus of this investigation has been on the Croslins and their side of the family especially now that it is suspected Haleigh is deceased and didn't die by natural causes...
In reference to this happening to another child at a later date...Yes, it very well could happen due to out of control behavior that has been exhibited and the lifestyles they have all lead, but IMHO it would not be because any of these three set out to intentionally or maliciously kill a child...JMHO

Let me add... IMHO..Every player in the Cummings/Neves/Sykes/Croslin Clans who has lied from the beginning and continues to lie, has been and still is being led by FEAR.......Fear has been the driving force..
BOTTOM LINE... Fear for the consequences they will have to face and what will happen to each and every one of them IF and when the truth is ever revealed...JMHO

We know Misty went there with Donna (Universal Theme Park) and, I believe (could be wrong - will have to go back and check) that's where Ron and Misty went when Ron got his portrait of Haleigh tattoo.

Chances are this is not related to the Haleigh case, but the timing of it makes me wonder. It's hard not to start thinking about the "what if's".

I'm hoping... maybe just maybe we'll have some movement in this case.

BBM.. Didn't he go to Pinellas Park, Fl for the tattoo... Damn thats 185 miles away from Satsuma....WHY all the way down there to get a tattoo..It is also close to Tampa isn't it? Wonder IF he took an alternate route at some point through Orlando.. Wouldn't put it past him since he was higher than a kite that day...

Yes it was Pinellas Park which is Tampa/St. Petersburg area. My apologies... I'll make sure I check first from now on. :loser:

No need for apologies.. I can see him taking a little road trip for a tattoo and an alternate route to another location to dipose of evidence... He is a manipulator like that and one who loves red herrings...JMHO

Thank you Kimster!

I agree Emeralgem, I also think he would manipulate others into getting rid of evidence for him as well. (i.e MC, TN, AS) I'm curious what happened to his best bud "Orlando" also! He just kind of disappeared (from our eyes anyway) I would think this would be someone LE would want to keep in touch with, being so close with Ron and all... does anybody know if there has been anything written about Orlando lately that I could check out?
