Tricia asked us to use IMO. Just wanted to let you know. Trying not to come across bossy.

I'm commenting on evidence. It's not my opinion that GZ says TM attacked him

  • #242
He sees an African American male that he doesn't recognize, walking in the dark and he immediately classifies him as one of "these guys" that have been burglarizing his neighborhood.

IMO, that is racial profiling and he just admitted to it.

Even though TM did not try to hide his face, even to avoid being seen by GZ or to avoid being described ...right down to his button.

IMO, No, it wasn't OK or appropriate for him to do, but that's why you and I disagree fundamentally about this case and will never agree

How about you abide by the MODS order to put IMO on every post that is not factual and is just your opinion?
The first part is fact. I felt the second part was clearly opinion.

In any case, I believe the mods encourage just reporting the post instead of being a vigilante and taking on the rule violation yourself.

Why would TM walk in a circle around the car when it was on and someone in it? Unless he was just switching directions. Even if you think he was looking to start something it doesn't make sense.

Nor does it sound true.:moo: Again, he sounds as sedated on this statement tape as he looks in the court room.:moo:

Black kids did burglarize homes in the area, it's fact not opinion. It's good he used common sense and alerted le imo tho.

I think we are all going to do something different. I was always taught to get to someone else. Walk up a driveway, knock on the door and say, I am being followed please call police.

We just don't know what was going through TM's mind. He could have been scared, or mad or annoyed.

Of course. And if I was a male instead of a small female then I might react differently, i.e. confront the person instead of just keep walking on my way or find a person's house if I felt very threatened.

We don't know what was going through his mind, but his actions tell me that he didn't particularly like being watched/followed and his confronting George seems justifiable, at least from his view.

They ask him for his location so they know where to meet George. He does a lot of umm and ahh and then just tells them to call him back for his location. We have been told over and over that George knows the area and everyone in it like the back of his hand. It doesn't stand to reason to me that George would not have been able to tell him where he was even at that point where he had ventured away from his car. Also, after they tell him they don't need him to pursue, you hear wind and heavy breathing for quite a few seconds before it stops.

GZ said that the neighbors house was always unlocked and GZ had reported someone near that home on a prior occasion. Yet, he doesn't know the street name. Doesn't make sense at all. JMO

Happy Monday Everyone! Prayers for the firefighters in AZ.

I've been saying that all along...it seems to get lost.

ok, so if a bunch of homes in your neighborhood had been broken into and you see someone out - not just WALKING the neighborhood, but ducking under eaves you would think everything is all ok??

Wasn't it raining?

You are free to trust whatever opinion you deem credible. Just as I will point out the flaws in this opinion and why it's a bad idea to tell someone you have a gun, so that someone else seeing this appeal to authority doesn't take it as fact and make silly decisions that get them hemmed up as a result. It's common sense, IMO.

:twocents::moo:

Now you are calling your opinion common sense. Are you saying you should not announce you are carrying a gun to the potential trouble maker?

  • #250
Wrong direction, GZ. And, if what he is saying was even remotely true, JL's light was on. He said TM asked him "what the f..." but yet he says he never even saw TM about to punch him. His chronological retelling does not at all fit the timing of the 911 call.

That is exactly what I am saying. The potential for bad far outweighs the potential for good in that situation. If you're so concerned about the situation, remove yourself from it. That is the only way out. Your weapon's presence, if concealed, should only be known when you intend on using it. Otherwise you put yourself in what could become a pretty hairy legal situation. Or a situation in which the person feels they're in fear of their life now because they feel you threatened them, and they just go ahead and shoot you.

IMO - Exactly...I wouldn't have any problem with it. I'm also not the type of person to call 911 60 times to report things such as children playing in the street as GZ has in the past.

I'm not only following this for the trail aspect but also because I live in a condo with a board member and we've been discussing some legal aspects RE this case.

We have about 50 condo owners and about 15% rentals here. Not too much trouble but an occasional vehicle break-in theft or vandalism.

I know the board members and they go though the "who belongs here" routine because of the pool and strangers from the area who don't know or were not invited by a condo owner/renter who is supposed to accompany them to the pool.

It is not unusual to see someone not recognized and wonder which unit they belong to. It is not unusual for the board to question unknown people at the pool who they are with (owner/renter) or be asked to leave. The pool is for condo owners and renters of this association, not the whole city when they want a place to swim. KWIM...

I'm also saying this goes for someone no matter their color, race or religion.

PS: It's also not unusual to watch which unit a strange face may go to or belong to.

"These guys"...if that's not profiling, I don't know what is
Of course it's profiling. It's profiling those who have previously committed crimes (burglaries) and gotten away.

  • #256
Some fits the evidence, but again, TM isn't here to tell his side :(

The autopsy showed NO injuries to Trayvon's hands, especially his dominate hand. If Trayvon was going to jump someone, he clearly would have punched GZ with his dominate hand. JMO

  • #257
No. That is fact.

GZ was beaten.
Gz shot to defend his person.
Those are facts proven by evidence.

These are the facts as you interrupt them.

Please add "In My Opinion "

This is an easy fix everyone. Please just do it.

Here let me give you an example:

Fact: George had a gun
Opinion : he fired the gun in self defense.

See how easy this is ?

Thank you

Black kids had burglarized homes in the area. It was completely appropriate to do what GZ did.

Fact: GZ deviated from standard procedure. GZ was aware of standard procedure. Thus, not appropriate to do what he did.
IMO

GZ's version being played in court right now is interesting! Anyone listening? Has the diagram this detective did with GZ available online?

It can certainly mean that he was trying to intimidate someone.. JMO
