I know I’ve stopped. Looking that is. We’re able to work from home though, so the numbers don’t really change much of our pattern. Since I don’t trust the accuracy of the testing or the reporting or the leadership, I’ve pretty much assumed an every-man-for-himself mindset. My family will continue our self-imposed sheltering, online shopping, masks in public, sanitize when we get home routine. When we hear we are past the predicted phase one, two and three of this virus with all stages of the now famous curve, we’ll venture out. Don’t know what else to do? Jmo

Chatham County sees record one-day spike in COVID-19 cases

“As the Coastal Health District (CHD) stated on Friday, “one thing is clear: the virus has not gone away and isn’t likely to disappear anytime soon.”

In Georgia on Friday, COVID-19 cases reached 62,009 and deaths totaled 2,636. South Carolina reported 22,608 COVID-19 cases and 639 deaths.

Chatham County saw 58 new cases since Thursday’s report. That’s more than double any previous one-day period.“

testing ... and I'm worried about the validity of the test kits. Already we've seen tainted tests. And 1/2 of the NE is in Savannah, Jekyll Island, and traveling through to FL. (and getting off 95 at my exit to get gas, food, and restrooms!)

The virus will have to run it's course just like all the ones before it.

Yes, that is what the US was banking on MOO. That it would taper off with warmer weather, and that "poorer countries won't be able to wipe it out, so let's just keep numbers under hospital capacity"

MOO

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/05/27/coronavirus-endemic/

Big fail on both, and we are here now. The poorest countries have the infrastructure moreso than we the first world/richest/first hit do?

The mayor of Atlanta now has tested positive as of last night.

COVID Testing Sites

@Henry2326 , are you still with us? Does anyone know how tracing is going, has there been media reports? One of my neighbors contacted me saying that their office said to get a test as someone was positive, but hasn't been contacted by anyone.

Any links as to media reports on tracing would be great if someone could share. Again, WHY isn't MSM really digging into lack of contact tracing?

Georgia COVID-19 hospitalizations surge, breaking new records

“Yet, this surge in hospitalizations comes just as parents across Georgia are trying to decide whether to send their children back to school next month.

"I definitely can't make a decision for all these parents," Schmidtke says. "But, I will say, as a parent myself, I have chosen to do the virtual school route. It is really hard to imagine reopening schools when we are surging and illness, the way that we are. The only real thing that has changed since the time that we closed the schools in March versus today is that we have more widespread transmission of disease in our communities, than we did then."

Schmidtke is encouraging Georgians who can to mask up and stay home.

"We’re all tired of this," she says. "We all want to get back to normal. But we need to understand that the virus doesn’t care whether we’re tired of it. It just wants get to the next human."”

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp sues Atlanta over mask requirement as coronavirus surges in the state

“Local officials who had issued mask mandates as hospitals filled up were outraged this week as Kemp overrode their judgment. The governor’s order came on the same day Georgia recorded its second-highest number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, logging 3,871 cases and 37 deaths.

Before Kemp filed his lawsuit Thursday, Bottoms said in an online news conference that his order would not stop Atlanta from enforcing its mask ordinance.

“I am not afraid of the city being sued, and I’ll put our policies up against anyone’s, any day of the week,” she said.”

Kemp says schools will grapple with COVID risk 'like with a stomach bug or a flu'

“Gov. Brian Kemp said Friday he believes children need to be in schools and said the news media has unfairly played up the risk of going back to class, likening an outbreak of COVID-19 in schools to that of a stomach bug or the flu.“

[...]

“The CDC notes: "If children meet in groups, it can put everyone at risk. Children can pass this virus onto others who have an increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19."

The long-term implications of COVID-19 in children are also not yet well understood.”

Coronavirus prompts closing of Georgia high school in district with over 1K in quarantine

"We know all parents do not believe the scientific research that indicates masks are beneficial," said the district chief where over 1,100 students and staff are in quarantine.

A Georgia school district that does not require masks has closed a high school and now has over 1,100 students and staff in quarantine due to the coronavirus.

The Cherokee County School District, based in Canton about 40 miles north of Atlanta, made the announcement Tuesday, just eight days after its schools reopened...

I see we’ve all dropped off here for the most part. But now that GA is THE #1 STATE WHERE WE ARE MOST LIKELY TO BE INFECTED WITH COVID-19, it deserves mention here.
State most likely exposed to coronavirus | Georgia | khou.com
At least this new honor & designation inspired Governor Bumblefutz to humble himself & allow local jurisdictions to require people to wear a mask. Even though he can’t quite bring himself to make it a state mandate.
New order from Georgia governor won't let governments order masks in businesses

Georgia becomes third state to shut down Johnson & Johnson vaccine site: report | FOX 5 San Diego

April 11, 2021

ATLANTA (WJW) — Georgia has reportedly become the third state to shut down a vaccination site using the Johnson & Johnson coronavirus vaccine due to adverse reactions.

The Georgia Department of Public Health confirmed to FOX 5 that eight people experienced adverse reactions on
Wednesday after receiving the shot.

[..]

FOX 5 reports that one person was hospitalized for evaluation, while the other seven were sent home after being monitored on site.

Health officials say the adverse reactions were “consistent with common reactions in adults being vaccinated with any vaccine,” according to the news outlet. The department allegedly stopped administering the Johnson & Johnson shot at the Cumming Fairground vaccination site due to the number of reactions.

Georgia’s shut down comes as health officials in Colorado and North Carolina also halted use of the Johnson & Johnson shot at some vaccination sites.

I think transparency about the vaccine is critical and all need to consider their own circumstances before deciding on the vaccine.

In full disclosure, I had the J & J vaccine 5 days ago and experienced no adverse reaction. IMO, the inoculation was more painful in comparison to my last flu shot but I had no arm pain or tenderness following the vaccine. I'm very grateful to consider myself "one and done."

At the recommendation of my mito team, we will not get any brand of vaccination right now. We all have antibodies, snd there’s not enough info on reactions (or lack of ) in people with muscular dystrophies
