Georgia Dome and CNN Center Hit by Tornado

I'm just catching up. Things sure do look worse in daylight. I can't believe injuries aren't worse. Has anyone heard whether any residents are missing from the collapsed condo's? Everyone there be careful and safe.

The afternoon assault is starting now with rain and some wind. Hopefully there won't be anymore tornados.

Just heard tornados are touching down and rescues dispatched, severe damage....in Polk County?

That is the most western county entering Georgia from Alabama.... northwest of the metro area. We have warnings but not too bad yet. Where are you finding this news as ajc nor wsb have it online?

SCM, aren't you in the Atlanta area? Stay safe!

Thanks, kahskye. :blowkiss: We are in Marietta and the Dobbins AFB weather sirens just went off again, so more is coming. We are okay here and have a strong basement to go hide in if it gets terrifying.

Downtown is in shambles, though. I hear Cabbagetown is flattened. Stay safe my friends!

The below link has had constant streaming video. You have to click on the mute button to get the sound. They've had certified tornado spotters reporting in.

ETA: They've been actually giving spot on warning for people in specific areas to take cover....NOW. Such as people living west of such and such lake, etc. Good reporting.

Luckily last night/this morning went just south of us and this afternoon slid just a few miles north of us. Our guardian angels are working overtime.

Unfortunately the amazing avoidance of casualties didn't carry over to today's storms. Incredible since last night's tornado went through a heavily populated area with people trapped in high rises with windows blown out and furniture literally being sucked out onto the streets, but today went through a much more suburban/rural area. You would think it would be the opposite.

Praying there are no more injured or dead and so thankful it missed us.

I'm so thankful you guys there in Atlanta and surrounding area are ok.
How scarey for you!

We always stay at the Omni when we come down there as it's convenient to Phillips Arena, and other places. It sounds like the tornado just went straight down the middle of the city! Scarey how the city looks, war zone, for sure.

It is storming here right now, thunder, lightening, rain and wind! I'm in Hendersonville, near Asheville NC.

Just wanted all of you to know that you're in my thoughts and my prayers this day!:blowkiss: Take care and stay safe!!!

Touching down in Hall County - over lake Lanier and Oakwood.

Waiting to see what happens before we dart into the basement.

Hey sweetmop,

My youngest sister (the apple of my eye) lives in Asheville - you keep safe in the scary storms!!!

I can't stay away from this thread today. It's amazing how many good people I've met online that are in Geogia. On that note, I fired off an email to Steve H. last night and he said him and his family are ok.

Everyone take care.

Thanks for letting us know about Steve - I think he's north of the city near angelmom. You are right that many Georgians are repesented at WS.

I haven't seen WhiteRain around today and hope she's doing okay.

The weather was fierce for a while. I packed my purse with cell phone and prepared for a tornado. My plan was to hit the bathtub with purse and a comforter over my head. It dissipated after much lightening. It is much calmer now. I am about 3-4 miles from the CNN Center.

i thought of you, when i heard this....glad you're safe!

I don't think we are out of the woods yet. More warnings coming out of Cleburn County Alabama which is right by the state line at I-20 heading east. It had begun to look like it was clearing somewhat.
