If Liam’s hotel/hostel was in Spaldingstrasse that’s about 5km away...probably not a walk he would attempt. If he was really, really drunk and without a phone, the only thing I can see him doing is, firstly, searching on foot for his friends and then, secondly, trying to make it back to his accommodation. I don’t think he’d try public transport unless he was really familiar with Hamburg and without a phone, his only real option is to flag down a cab.Grüezi to Switzerland! <3
My understanding is that Liam vanished into thin air. Nobody saw him leaving the place. The Veermaster is a very crowded and noisy place, especially on weekends. It’s a little bit like „Oktoberfest“ with a northern, maritime touch. If he went out for a cigarette, it‘s likely nobody noticed it.
Germany mostly has non-smoking bars/restaurants, a few have separate rooms for smokers or are smokers (members) only. Police just started their official investigation, so I‘m sure they will check out any available cctv:

The hostel they stayed in is located at Spaldingstrasse, not really nearby.
Anything could have happened, he could have been ripped off by someone or he went out and didn‘t find his way back. It was freezing cold that night and I just hope he didn‘t walk towards the piers and ended up in the river. There are a lot of porters trying to encourage tourists to come to the strip club but they usually don‘t kill them and just want them to spend money. ;-)
Let‘s hope for the best!
I'm just trying to think what would cause a man to leave a bar without his friends, without telling them, especially a man who had organised the whole thing.
I wonder if he actually got a bit lost in the bar, drunk, got chatting with someone, as you do, turned round and the group were gone.
He had no phone and went out to find them, but something happened then.
I know the bar staff said he left before the group but it doesn't make sense. Maybe it was after.
If there wasn't mcuh time between the group leaving and Liam leaving, it seems that it would be hard to remember who left first.
They may very well have left without him and not realised.
It does not sound as if they stopped to search the bar before they left. What was their thought process? Did no-one think "is everyone here"? He could have been in the toilet, at the bar or chatting up a girl in a dark corner for all they knew.

Not all 18 members of the group were in the same pub at the end of the night,a few went to other pubs, some went back to the hotel and some were in the last pub they were in,its possible Liam went to see if he could see others from the group in another pub or was simply leaving in order to go back to the hotel. It was like 17 of them left the pub together without Liam, the group had disbanded during the night

"When he wasn't waiting for us outside, there was no reason to panic. He'd organised the whole trip so he'd researched the city and knew better than any of us how to get home."
But when Eamonn woke the next morning, Liam wasn't there.
"We are getting more people coming forward. We don't know if it'll lead to anything but it makes me feel more positive.
"We just have to keep thinking we'll get that bit of information that we need to find him and get him home."
It has now emerged Liam was spotted on CCTV walking towards Reeperbahn station, close to the last pub he was in.
Eamonn said his brother is seen on camera by himself walking through an arcade area.
He said: "There have been a couple more potential sightings that the police are currently working on and reviewing CCTV on those areas.
"There is a recording of Liam in the Reeperbahn area. It isn't outside the pub. It's further along the Reeperbahn towards the train and subway stations.
"After that there is no other image of Liam. I don't know the exact location. It's some sort of gaming area.
"He is seen walking alone, as we thought he would have been.
"We don't know much more at this time."
