I would not be surprised at all to discover in another month that Haase has strong links with another country, or is very fluent in another language.

The police really should be releasing more information about him now. They must have it. I am certain it's not Maria deciding where they should hide out. The clues will lie in Haase's history somewhere, I'm sure.

And the dog is just a total, total mystery. It must be somewhere.

Agreed zwiebel. He may even have false ID for them both. Seems he was planning this. Can he or Maria speak another language? I only saw he may speak French.

Maria will definitely have been studying english at school. Haase will speak english too I think. Unless he was born and brought up in the east of Germany originally; then he will have learnt russian as a second language.

*Kalletal where Haase lived with his family is not a very long way from the city of Bielefeld. British soldiers have been stationed there since the end of WW11. There is some general info about the kind of area it is in the army links below, and somebody enquiring on toytown is told that almost everyone speaks english in the area.

So, now I am more certain both Maria and Bernhard will speak english quite well enough to get by. I haven't been able to find anything to confirm Bernhard really did speak french yet. The sighting in Berne made me think he did - but that has been discredited. Three separate witnesses too. :(

Oh boy she's really looking only 13 in that last pic. I wonder if her ' relationship ' with him is what prompted her to use more makeup. Where can they be ?

I think that could be true. I have noticed women and girls wear a lot less makeup than women in England, and many wear none at all.

There is a respectable-looking German-language missing person's forum with a thread for Maria. They don't seem to have any more info than we do though.
http://translate.google.co.uk/trans...search?q=maria+henselmann&client=safari&hl=en

Germans keep written records of everything, but they are not so keen on putting it online. There has got to be findable info about Haase out there though, I'm convinced. I am going to try and have a serious search later this week, when I'll have someone able to help me with the language.

Good on you zwiebel!
My attempts have ended in frustration - the language barrier is a problem, though I think we all are finding whats available.
It wouldn't surprise me if some things have been removed from the web on Haase - now that he's wanted by Interpol, and his reputation is down the drain.

Yell if you would like help on something, I have a little spare time this week.

Thanks, I may well yell, because I have a chance this week that someone could actually collect paper copies of any info on Haase that is available, in the area.

Although I am ALWAYS hoping that Haase will come to his senses and realise he has run away with a CHILD and he must send her home. I don't care where he runs off to if Maria comes home. I wouldn't bother trying to track him down, myself.

It is a little bit late for a 13-year-old German girl to still be awake, but;

Guten nacht Maria. I hope you come home soon.

I searched today for anything new but the case remains the same.

The TV show Aktenzeichen XY Ungelöst that was aired last week (it was mentioned here on the previous page) had some people call in with new leads and sightings which police are checking out, but nothing has been reported since.

There are several new entries on the blog http://mariasuche.wordpress.com/

The last three are from family friends or family members other than the parents, and the last one especially is quite moving. The person talks directly to Haase and is very respectful, acknowledging that Haase is in love but then also questioning it. He also asks Haase if he has children himself and how he would feel if they disappeared.

I hope Haase finds and reads it!

I was thinking: there are alternative living communities all over the more southern parts of Europe (France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece), especially the Mediterrainian coast and islands. Some of them are connected to a religion or spiritual alternatives thereof, and people are welcome to join, living as part of the commune and working there as well. Some might be quite unorthodox when it comes to identification documents, they might not ask for identification but simply welcome people who want to join temporarily. Those places might be a "perfect" hide out for Maria and Haase right now, providing them with everything they need while at the same time shielding them to a large extent from scrutiny of people in normal society. They are also often very international, people from all kinds of countries including Germany can be found there so language barriers wouldn't be such a problem.

It's really impressive how much support the family and friends have trumped up on facebook. The group has more than 20,000 members and they are distributing flyers non stop, all over Germany and neighbouring countries.

This does sound as if it could be possible, but my doubt bell is ringing.
I'm not sure a community would want the public attention of people who are on the Interpol wanted lists - even if there are others in the community who were less than savoury themselves. It might expose them unwittingly to this hunt for Maria and Haase. But then again, anything is possible in a community where there are like minded sympathetic people with similar agendas and morals - or, where there is enough money involved.

Maybe they should appeal to those person/s who know where she is. My bet is that this couldnt have been done alone.
I think they now need to post some sort of a reward for information leading to Maria and/or Haase's whereabouts to keep the search alive and to up the pressure for Maria to be returned to her family.

I hope Maria is safe and comes home soon.

This is a completely different case that happened in England, but I think it is very interesting to see how it ended up. It is a teacher who began an inappropriate relationship with a pupil when she was 13, and then left his wife of one year and ran off with the girl when she was 15.

Now there is a trial taking place and the girl is giving evidence. I think what she is saying about their time on the run gives a good clue for what Maria and Bernhard may be doing.

ETA: While he was having a relationship with the girl, he telephoned her mother and complained about the effect it was having on his career!

There was one close to me when I lived in France. They didn't mix with the people in the village so anybody might have hidden there. It was a bit strange though - I think it was a doomesday cult and they were waiting for the end of the world.

I guess they are still there, waiting.

I think it is highly likely Haase has a handle on the web, but I can't find it. I wouldn't be surprised if he has been following the case and going around deleting things. I have found a little bit of info from his political times, but I have to get it checked first, to make sure I have got it right.

This may be relevant - you cannot buy a cell phone in Germany without ID. It wouldn't be very easy for him or Maria to have bought new phones anonymously........unless they travelled to a country where you can, of course.

Interesting. Thanks for posting that! Will be interesting to see what sentence he gets.

So their troubles began when they ran out of money and he went to find a job. Let's hope Haase will also try to find work and get recogized.

I think he may be trolling the web, but I would doubt that he would let Maria have that much access - especially with the amount of web search hits for her name.
He could have told her anything as to why she shouldn't have contact on the web.
He maybe somewhere where there is purposely no coverage or very little, or he has the only access to a prepaid connection for phone and data, and that maybe intentional.
He could gain access to a phone - especially if there was someone else involved buying them things - it would be under someone else's name.
They maybe in a country like Belarus where there is little and restricted access to Social Networking - or in a blackspot.
He could be using a satellite phone.
He had time to plan this for a month before, when he moved into his mothers place, so obviously he seems to have covered his bases - which means they could have had false ID made before he took Maria.

Just my speculation: If they have left Germany, maybe they have been making their way to somewhere that has not heard of them like Southern Hemisphere (maybe :dunno: - is small, like an island country that is out of Europe and surrounded by water. They maybe travelling by boat?

I wonder where the car and the dog is. If they could locate either one of those things it would help with the search.

arrghh... someone knows where they are!

Be safe Maria - Be home soon.

I wonder about this too.
Cant survive forever without money - no matter how good you are with finances.
Unless he had one hell of a stash of it somewhere.
Switzerland anyone?

When I was searching for info on Haase, a Hund Hotel came up. It's in Rottenburg and there is no indication there is any relation to Bernhard, but it did make me wonder if he could have pre-booked his dog into somewhere.

Again though, I would have thought that would require ID, especially in Germany.
