Crumbs , I was sort of thinking he was going to be innocent as the family were so strongly behind him

I think the family is partially correct in their belief that he did not intend to harm Rebecca. The charge seems to be manslaughter, so I'm assuming that everyone believes that something happened to accidentally cause her death.

I never quite understand how so many people manage to accidentally kill someone. I've been able to avoid it pretty easily myself.

Maybe it wasn’t all that accidental. ”Totschlag“ (manslaughter) means no premeditation. An accident would be “Fahrlässige Tötung“ (involuntary manslaughter/negligent homicide).

Further investigation arrests - 3rd Homicide Commission asks for help in the search for Rebecca Reusch

Just want to clarify this before it creates confusion. This headline was not translated well (by Google I guess). It does not mean there have been more arrests. It should say something like "Further points of investigation". ( @cybervampira how would you translate "Ermittlungsanhalte"?)

I was waiting for them to ask publicly for sightings of the car and blanket. I'm very surprised they released his photo.

Hell for the family while they wait for the other shoe to drop ...

That’s a typical German officialese term. A regular human :p would say ”Weitere Anhaltspunkte“ which is exactly what you say (further indications or cues).

If he had no reason to be driving there and did not tell his wife that he drove there, I suspect that she will now be very much questioning his innocence. Whether she says it out loud to her family or not... I have no idea how these poor individuals will slowly come out of their necessary denial.
I too wonder about the car and why it has been said there’s only one previously. If there is only one I’m wondering how they ruled out that she didn’t drive there during her work day- how would he have gotten access to the car so soon after 7am?

Rebecca's father told RTL that the family does not believe that the husband of Rebecca's older sister has anything to do with the disappearance of the 15-year-old. "That's not his style, that does not suit him," said the missing girl's father.

Previously, the police had released several photos of the suspect and the red-crimson Renault Twingo, with the 27-year-old was traveling on the day when Rebecca disappeared. Police ask witnesses to contact each other who saw Florian R. that day. The brother-in-law is currently the main suspect of the police and is in custody. The car was registered on 18 and 19 February twice on the A12 in the direction of Frankfurt / Oder by a traffic detection system. However, the brother-in-law had testified that he had slept and got involved in contradictions.

Rebecca's father hinted that he knew why his son-in-law was traveling there but could not say so. He asked his son-in-law to speak with the investigators, but speculated that the attending lawyers were silent. "Clarify that so that the whole search goes in a different direction and in the right way," said the father."We have to find Becci." Becci is the family nickname for Rebecca.

The family has repeatedly stressed that it considers the brother-in-law innocent. They continue to hold on to this. Indications like the hair of Rebecca found in the trunk of the Twingo, explains the father so that his daughter and niece had played there on Sunday.

His father in law hinted as to why he might be driving that way but can’t say, and presses him to tell? What was he involved with that the father knew about but doesn’t want to say himself?

surely if it’s work , shopping etc it’s easily proved , perhaps another woman .... but you’d come clean about that rather than look like you were involved in disappearance. How far is this journey can we map it ? Is it up and back over 2 days or the same journey each day ? Why would you even be traveling anywhere with a missing child amongst your family , you’d all be sticking together trying to get answers surely? Can’t see my husband saying bye I’m off to work or off to football training etc with this just happening , all I could see you doing was getting kids to nursery or having to buy some food or an urgent hospital appointment etc .... why would you not be with family constantly?

I think it's good he's not telling this to the media. BIL has to explain it to police, it's not his (father's) place to do so.

I wonder what the reason was. He's a cook at a hotel, there's not really much travelling involved.

Lol another Google translation gem! :D
Haha. :D

O/T: I once had to review a Google-translated software manual where ”Fonts“ was translated to ”Taufbecken“. :p Review took longer than translating it myself.

I also laughed that ceiling and blanket are the same word.
“How is their ceiling missing? And their ceilings are PURPLE?!? Ohhhh...”

You will laugh even more when you find out that the plural of Decke (Decken) has 4 meanings :D
- ceilings
- blankets
- defray
- mating

There is not much known about F.R.,is there?
Only that he works works as a cook in a hotel, believe he is 27 yrs old and has 2 children with R s sister.
I do believe to have read that they got married a few months ago,but could be that I am wrong and it was the other sister,I always mix them up some how..

Possibly but that would be rather far to travel for a nurse? But you never know, maybe she did for some work related reason. Should be easy to verify.

Has there been any clarification on what job she holds? And not that we’re sleuthing her, but just for basic background information about the suspect, and his interactions.

Rebecca Reusch: Schwager soll nach Brandenburg gefahren sein

Apparently, when the pictures are published, there is a suspicion that the brother-in-law, on the morning Rebecca disappeared, hid the girl's corpse in Brandenburg and buried her there or otherwise disposed of her the following day.
He did had the car for these 2 days!
-The family car was registered by a license plate recognition system on the day of the disappearance of Rebecca at 10:47 am on the A12 between Berlin and Frankfurt / Oder.
Another time the next day at 22:39. The prosecutor also confirmed that at this time only the brother in law had access to the car.
