But Harley is specifically trained to find digital storage devices through scent and she heads out with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) to support officers during search warrants, police say.''
There are no other dogs trained to do this Canada and very few in the United States. According to an
ABC news story, there were only about 100 canines certified to do this type of work in the U.S. in 2022.
The dogs are trained to smell a chemical compound found in electronic storage devices such as thumb drives and microSD cards. Because they are so small, these devices can be difficult to find. But they can store photos and videos, which could be evidence in child sexual exploitation cases.''
