Doesn't look, as if he had an odd (somehow rocking) gait. Looks quite normal. He knows how to handle his long limbs well. (I had expected otherwise. Don't know, why.)

I understand. However, RH, in general, presents OK. In the interview, he strings words together well, even shows some sense of humor. Except for his short neck and overdeveloped parotid glands, which I personally view as a symptom of alcoholism, he looks average. He just towers above people, on that street, in the video, or even at court. So witnesses would be able to remember him and provide a description. A sketch would also work. Plus slightly unusual speech. I looked up - men of 6’4” are in 1.1 percentile in the US, so any description paired with a certain place and a prostitute that disappeared there, would have been damning. This is why I think he was sitting in a very common car, and later, even the car changed. He might have moved activity to another place as well. Atlantic City or Las Vegas could be good hunting grounds for him, as people come and go all the time, or NYC + LI, for that matter. He could also hunt in very deserted places, but again, one random witness, and he’d be out of luck. Was he carrying a gun for that reason? To remove such witnesses?

Of course, even that “car + ogre” in LI area + the corpse could have been enough. Someone else dropped the ball. Were these pimps, supposed to accompany women, cowards who didn’t come forward later, or LE didn’t care, or did some other factor play in RH favor?

*I ran across this article looking for something else. I find it interesting. It’s dated May 9, 2011:

The skeletal remains of at least eight murder victims found on a remote stretch of New York beach are the work of three and possibly four separate killers, prosecutors said today.

"It is clear that the area in and around Gilgo Beach has been used to discard human remains for some period of time," Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said. "As distasteful and disturbing as that is, there is no evidence that all of these remains are the work of a single killer."
Wednesday marked 20 years since the headless and handless body of Jessica Taylor, a 20-year-old escort working out of New York City, was discovered in the woods of Manorville, Long Island.

She was the second victim of an unknown killer to be found brutally dismembered and tied up. Valerie Mack, a sex worker from New Jersey and Philadelphia, was similarly found dead in 2000.

“Their leg area was bound in a ball,” one former investigator told PIX11 News. “You’d have to be a hunter to do something like that.”

When PIX11 asked another law enforcement source about Bittrolff and the Manorville victims connected to Gilgo, we received this response: “We’re looking at him very closely, but we’re not ruling out Heuermann.”

I have no idea what it could mean to have legs bound in a ball. Like, criss-cross-applesauce? What animals get their legs balled up? I presume it is not waterfowl.

I have a feeling I don't want to Google this...I'm a little squeamish.

Do we know if RH was ever known to go hunting? Were any of his guns registered? Had he ever had a hunting permit? How many hunting knives were found? Was he ever know to eat wild game or fowl? We know he is a collector, (forgive me if I go off topic real quick, I just had a flashback of Denzel in The Bone Collector) because of the guns. What else did he collect? Knives? Dolls? Socks? Panties? Jewelry? Hair?

The investigation surrounding alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex A. Heuermann entered a new, less public phase Wednesday. Crowds that had gathered on the streets outside the residence during the 12-day search of his Massapequa Park home

Tierney has already taken a hands-on role in the case by presenting evidence to the grand jury that indicted Heuermann and leading the prosecution at the defendant’s July 14 arraignment.

"District Attorney Tierney is presenting this case," spokeswoman Tania Lopez told a Newsday reporter Wednesday.

The unusual move will mark the first time Tierney has personally prosecuted a case since he took office in January 2022. He previously served as a federal prosecutor, trying cases in the Eastern District of New York as recently as 2021.

Fred Klein, the former chief of the major offense bureau of the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office and a visiting assistant professor of law at Hofstra University, said it was highly unusual for district attorneys to lead prosecution teams.

“I’ve known Ray Tierney for a long time and I really have respect and admiration for him as an attorney and a prosecutor,” Klein said. “However, I think for him to assume the responsibility of an actual trial will be challenging for him and his office. As the DA, he has responsibility for every case in their office. A new crisis comes up every day in a place like the Suffolk County DA’s office.”

“From that perspective, it is a curious decision,” Klein said. "I give him credit for making the effort."
This is interesting. I completely understand his concerns but at the same time I don't think this should be a public discussion. Klein should have picked up the phone and spoken to Tierney privately. I don't understand his motivation for putting this out to the public at this time, this is a fresh arrest, fresh case and things can turn on a dime, we shouldn't be privy to what is happening within office politics at this time.

I haven't watched the interview yet cause the idea of listening to a serial killer creeps me out but now you have me curious.
I too felt the same way! I started listening to it and had to stop after about 30 seconds. But in those 30 seconds I found that he did indeed have the New York accent but I too have a New York accent so it sounded normal to me when he spoke. Years ago someone commented on my accent and said I sounded like a educated New Jerseyan. I laughed at first but then thought was that a backhanded compliment?

I hate this for you but ,you gotta . In it he talks of a hammer and his dad and well that interveiw is enlighting in a way that kinda makes the doll case more import . Tool marks . This line of investigation shows a lot of clues. He is a builder ,he has an eye for detail , he has a tool he respects a lot for its practical beauty and purpose. It is important. Sorry, that you gotta watch the whole thing.Ya do though.
I would love the behavior panel to go over this video . Not that I think they are the end all to the end y'all but they do teach a person some things.

I'd counter that with, you only have to expose yourself to what you know you can handle taking up residence in your brain. For example, if it's going to give you nightmares, it's not worth it.

I have not listened either, and I don't think it's hampering me engaging with this case. Everything of interest from it has been discussed here.

Spota and Police Commissioner Richard Dormer were at odds when Dormer believed it was one serial killer. I found the video but I can't copy it to paste here. He said the condition of the bodies indicated that serial killer's often changed the way they killed. I believed Dormer and not Spota.

It's weird thinking back to the beginning of the case but I definitely didn't believe Spota because he seemed shady to me at the time. Turns out my gut feelings were right as this whole thing played out.

Is this search for the property and the vehicle or just the vehicle? Reads to me it's just the Avalanche. Curious as to why they may not be searching the entire property since he owns it with his brother.

I watched a bit of the interview. He doesn't strike me as odd or weird, just a normal guy that found a niche and wants to brag a bit about it. I haven't watched all of it. An observation, I don't think he's an organized person, looks somewhat haphazard with his dress, so I suspect any searches would have to include everything. I am curious if he has evidence spread about and not kept in just one special space or location. All jmo and my initial reaction, going to go watch some more of it.

That is horrifying to me…..do you remember in The Wizard Of Oz when the slippers are taken off the feet of the witch that was crushed by the house and her feet shrivel, curl up and disappear….that scene absolutely horrified me as a child and reading the description of someone legs being “curled up like a ball” reminded me of that and gave me that same horrible feeling.

Your right. I see how my post sounds peer preasure like . I didnt mean she has to has to..I meant it like in a "you have to see this " kinda way.
I admit it took me 3 days to be able to get in a head space to really listen and I am not the same person I was before I saw it either so caution should be used . I am not the kind of person that can take a narritive of someone elses ideas of what they watched so ,I havfta , I cannot rely on other peoples opinions ,nor can I count on anyone else to tell me everything important from the video was discussed because I could never prove that to myself. regardless if I believed it or not. KWIM?

Watch it or dont @LadyL ,I did not mean to sound bossy.

RH lost control of his life a long time ago, as shown the conditions of his house from the outside and what has been said about the inside. At first glance he seemed like a organized killer because he took the time to put them in burlap and place them together on the beach or in the dense brush. I believe it was a shining achievement for him that he could look at from across the bay. Just a really twisted human being.
