IMO:

The day after the divorce was announced AE & VH were in the courtroom.
They traveled from South Carolina to Riverhead NY.
That is NOT moving on with her life.

They have to provide footage for their documentary.
Lawyer BM always spews AE is withholding judgement blah,blah,blah until the trial(s) end.
Besides that offensive cop-out to the victims and their loved ones we all know that any guilty verdict will be appealed and then she'll have that as an excuse for years.

NY divorce records are sealed so we'll never know how their assets were divided up but if RH turned everything over to AE to protect their assets from any civil cases against him in the future that may not fly with the judge.

The next media frenzy will be the sale of the residence.

How about a stack of mags of the world’s most revered scientific publications* - all containing vetted implementations of said technology?

Or a folder showing all the papers, or whatever. It must be thousands by now. Show the affiliations.

I find this process rather egregious.

I still find it weird that science at this level has to be scrutinised while, for instance, a guy can ”prove he was at home” if his cell phone was there and showed typical activity. Um….workflows, automation, remote log in - anyone?

Testimony about nuclear DNA…..just hoping a discussion about the validity of gravity isn’t next.

The mtDNA is more widely known and accepted and is stunning when added to all the other evidence already released. Win or lose this battle, the war of locking him away forever is the goal. The case looks strong, so limiting the possible areas for appeals seems okay to me.

Personally, it would not hurt my feelings if the state loses this battle as I suspect it would eliminate possible future areas for appeals. From what we've seen, the state has a very strong case. The mtDNA is more widely known and accepted and is stunning when added to all the other evidence already released. Win or lose this battle, the war of locking him away forever is the goal. The case looks strong, so limiting the possible areas for appeals seems okay to me.

There still remains the mitochondrial DNA and Brown doesn't have to accept the lab's results of that either and it's almost certain it would be included in the appeal should RH be found guilty in any of the cases where it was allowed in as evidence.

I agree that the Judge would not rule based on a possible appeal. I would guess he'd be more concerned that "Novroski agreed Astrea's lab is not currently accredited, though she said she thought they were seeking accreditation" and "Novroski said her employer, the Center for Human Identification, was currently examining Astrea's methods for rootless hair extraction, as well as other methods, to determine whether it should begin using any of them for forensic testing." and as reported in an earlier article, it’s never been used in a forensic setting, and "the reason they don’t use it as a population reference is because it’s simply not enough people to compare it to.” of course, this is from Michael Brown, so would have to be backed up. Should DNA evidence be admissible in the trial of the Gilgo Beach serial killings suspect?

Watching that new series "Gone Girls:The Long Island Serial Killer" and I have a question, if anyone knows. Was there any connection ever made between SC Police Chief JB and Oak Beach homeowner JB where SG spent her last night alive? Just wondering

There is a lot of conjecture out there and the Leanne witness attached to John Ray supports the theory that there was a ring of individuals on LI involved in patronizing sex workers, potentially trafficking, drug use, abuses of multiple kinds that may have included those mentioned as well as other high profile community members. But concrete evidence to the fact, not so sure aside from charges against JB and TS. The book Jimmy The King dives into the history and corruption somewhat. You can individually research residents of Oak Beach at the time too and draw some interesting conclusions, but thus far nothing officially tied to any victims.

I think we've seen many suggestions of this over the years. While this new story in Newsday doesn't tie directly to the murders, it supports our beliefs of very ugly activities in that area: "A Nassau County court has awarded $1.6 billion to 104 women who alleged sexual abuse by former Merrick pediatrician Stuart Copperman, in what experts say is one of the largest judgments of its type in U.S. history."

A lawsuit filed by suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex A. Heuermann in Brooklyn Supreme Court over a 2022 car accident was dismissed on Monday, according to court records.

The lawsuit sought $5 million in damages from Suffolk County residents Lindsay Fenimore and C.D. Fenimore for "severe and permanent personal injuries," physical pain, mental anguish and financial loss Heuermann claims he suffered as a result of the Feb. 23, 2022, crash in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

Nuclear DNA is much more informative than mtDNA. mtDNA is of prokaryotic origin, after all.

That said, I do think they are in a better position due to some of the hairs coming from icelandic descendants - the Icelandic population is the best sequenced there is, so even if mtDNA inherently lacks complexity, they will have a level of sequential resolution than far exceeds the the norm. If they use the Icelandic datasets, that is.

Rootless nuclear DNA from hair has been used for years, so hopefully that wont be a problem either.

From the adhesive marks, it would seem he did in fact go dexter. While no evidence can be evidence, no evidence can also mean extensive preventative measures.

Just a bit of trivia:

That crash was February 23, 2022.

One month later or less in March 2022, investigators found a first-generation Chevrolet Avalanche – the same type of truck a witness believed to have been driven by Costello’s killer – registered to Heuermann at the time of the murders, according to the bail application.

Armed with more than 300 subpoenas and search warrants, investigators began to close in on their suspect.

Evidence revealed the killer had used burner phones to contact victims. Investigators found calls to the victims originated from locations connected to Heuermann.

Now isn't that interesting. Was this lawsuit and damages tapped into to "help" in their investigation? Hmmm...
