Girl with dark long hair and fur coat.

On the topic of comparing photographs, isn't Websleuths the proper place to pose some of the less likely possibilities? I think of it this way: A lot of the long missing (i.e. the 1960s-early 1980s) have only one or two photos available, often of poor quality, and not dated close to the time they disappeared, and really, what harm is there in discussing a match here? No resources are wasted. We're not bothering law enforcement chatting amongst ourselves. Most matches suggested on WS are incorrect. But...maybe something will click in the discussion and move the direction where it needs to be? It could be some really tiny, strange detail overlooked for decades.

I think this is his own pseudo apartment in Monterey Park, so 1977/1979 period. Unless his mother's house was the same in 1974.

It was a bedroom, other room and bathroom.

I still think that Diane looks a lot like her, but she was murdered in Maryland. Still what if she visited CA and later on he went to visit her?

I dont think its the same woman but I can see some traits. The woman on the right has thinner lips and a rounder face. The woman on the left has more angular facial features to me including the nose which seems to be shaped different in the nostrial area

The lips could be swollen from injuries. I really see a resemblance here, assuming that the missing photo is of a younger and much happier girl. Their eyes appear to be different colors though but old photos aren't reliable there.

I can never, never find any Doe or MP that resembles this girl. I've definitely tried, but in months, probably over a year now, I have never run across even one image with a resemblance. I looked again today. I still do not see anyone that resembles this girl. She has very distinctive features, jmo. As I look through on this thread, think that yearbook girl really does look like her. Don't think so on Ellen Hover, though. But just saying, I've looked and looked and looked again and again, I never find anyone in Namus, Doe Network, etc that I think really looks like that girl. BUT I did find something kind of related, and I can't tell if there's anything to it or not. This girl in the Alcala images has that white fur coat. Guessing 70s timeframe. I've got no idea of whether that's NY or CA because that's such a tight shot, some on different threads wonder if she's not from around the Russian River in CA. There's an MP that went missing back in 1972 from Chicago that was wearing a white fur coat, Edna McIntyre:

Alcala was in prison when Edna disappeared and wouldn't be released until over five years following her disappearance, so I thought this was just a coincidence, fur coats in that timeframe are... I don't know if I'd say they're common, but they're definitely around. But I've been wondering about it, and while I don't think Edna is the girl wearing the white coat in the Alcala images, am wondering on this photo, and the blonde girl specifically:

1767174543358.webp

None of these photos are the best for comparisons. There's profile only for the girl in this Alcala image and pretty much straight-on face b/w shots only for Edna. But I think that might be more than just a superficial resemblance. And the reason I'm really wondering about all of this is that I've had the feeling for some time that Alcala collected wardrobe items from prior subjects. Whether he stole them, took them after doing something unspeakable, or whether people might have paid for head shots with items, I've got no idea. But based on some of the duplication in the photos among subjects and certain items, I'm pretty sure he was doing this. And that's why I'm so struck by this thing with the white fur coat, and the resemblance of this blonde girl to Edna, who has never been found.

I just saw something really unusual. MyHeritage Deep Nostalgia™, deep learning technology to animate the faces in still family photos - MyHeritage

It is a bit strange, but when I saw a thread on Twitter of historical figures using this tech, my first thought was to to wonder if this might be useful for UIDs and for the type of work @CarlK90245 does?

Posting it in this thread, since I'm not really sure where to mention it, and I know we have discussed other photography related things here.
Great idea, in my opinion. Any tool is helpful.

What made you think of the Russian River area? Just curious. The Russian River runs from Ukiah (Lake Mendocino) all the way to Jenner. When I think of the Russian River I generally think of Healdsburg, Guerneville, an Monte Rio.

Let me know what you were thinking about this area.

Victim has hazel green eyes, not blue. Forehead is lower/smaller, and lip shape and size different. Philtrim on Victim is smaller.
I would have to say not a match, but a very good comparison you found.

This girl has haunted me for a long time.

Amateur opinion and speculation only
