Give Us This Day Our Daily Thread
Welcome to December 5th, 2025

Well, I am not feeling the love. We only had a few people post on yesterday's Daily Thread.
It is time I humiliate myself again with bizarre pictures that make me realize I need to keep working to pay for my psychiatric bills.
In the first picture, I have lost one or both of my front teeth.
I made my own purse. It looks like something Buffalo Bill from The Silence of the Lambs would make as a child. It's papier-mache. I have no idea how I came to make this nightmare, but I sure was proud of it.
My British Mum spent her teenage years in the bomb shelters of London. Wearing a mink stole was the epitome of making it in America. This mink was something both my mum and dad were proud of. They worked hard so they could afford a country club, trips to Europe, and a mink stole.
The second picture isn't bad at all. I am posting it to stop a crazy rumor that is going around the Internet that I am a Mormon. That is not a bad thing at all. However, the crazy rumor is part of a ridiculous conspiracy concerning the Mormon Church. I won't go into details but I can assure you I was raised Catholic. This is my first communion picture. I would not wear this to go to the LDS Church. Although I do consider myself an honorary Mormon because everyone I knew was Mormon. So if you come across some nutty conspiracy theory naming yours truly for flip's sake, do not believe it.View attachment 628713View attachment 628716
What is your embarrassing childhood picture?

I - fortunately - can no longer find my first communion photo ( it is buried deep somewhere, along with the memories ). But were you and I swopped at birth Tricia ? that dress, that pose, the veil, it's me 🤣 🤣

I can’t find my first communion photo easily either, but it’s me for sure too! Will a Girl Scout photo count?

I ordered 200 disposable bowls to serve Veg Chilli, Beef Curry and Rice, Nachos, at the Annual Xmas Quiz I write and Read at my local pub. The chef cooks the food beautifully and lots of it. 150+ people come every year.

Im afraid I went full 'Spinal Tap Stonehenge' on the sizing of the bowls :D

They may hold 2 Nachos each :)

No communion dress Im afraid and that's not stubble on the first pic, just shadow. Maybe 3yr old in beardy pic, 5yr old in my first school class in the 2nd pic :D. Proper chunky monkey.

Your mother looks lovely, full Jackie Kennedy Onassis flair.

Yes she does! Those were the days…for me the 1950s. I remember I loved to watch my mother dress up for some special occasion. We even wore gloves if we were going to San Francisco for the day (me too as a child). And all we had to do was drive across the Bay Bridge. 😄

ETA...just told DH Tricia @WS is bringing me some more cats...the look on his face was priceless and he said oh you crazy cat lady but now he is laughing himself silly.
Tricia provides a one stop shop.. she will provide you a place to discuss true crime and get you a few cats! 🤣

I don't have any first communion photos because I wasn't raised catholic. I was raised southern Baptist. I know, I know 🥴 I am now just a believer who lives and let live. I will say the Baptists know how to do a potluck. Food at every event was the only way.

I also had an incident where I cut my own hair right in the front, so it was a half bangs half almost bald in the front look for a while.

Meet "mama kitty" She found us in Hawaii and spent 2 years visiting our Lanai getting fed and loved on. When we learned we'd be leaving Hawaii I nearly had a meltdown thinking about her being left. She had been coming into our house for short periods of time for about a year before this. I decided she was just going to have to come in and stay in and then move with us because I couldn't handle thinking about leaving without her. So now she's ours, she lives where it's cold outside and has a heated blanket we turn on for her. My hubby who is definitely a dog person is officially a cat dad.

One of my favorite ladies at our church once said that they will recognize the folks from our church at the pearly gates because they will have a covered dish.

My most embarrassing photo was my senior picture. I was fashion confused those days. I didn’t know if I wanted to be a 70s good girl or a glitter rock bad girl. I look horrible in short hair. Well this was the time that the movie Cabaret was popular. I thought Liza Minnelli was the cutest and I opted for her pixie cut right down to the pointed bangs. Not a good choice for me. The pictures were so embarrassingly bad that I didn’t even purchase them . I did snap a photo from my senior yearbook and asked one of those facebook photo edit pages to fix it up a bit for me. They did. So now I have a senior photo with regular bangs that I’m not as embarrassed to show but oh, it was a bad photo originally.

Yesterday was slow on this thread. It was a busy one for me. I was away from home for most of the day and wasn’t on line as much as usual.
