Travelling behind trucks is always scary. Whatever they're carrying.
When I was little, I was terrified when our car was on the road and we pulled up next to a semi.

Last year while travelling I had a bit of a fright when we found ourselves in between two huge trucks and no way to get out of that position.
The one on the left sped up a bit and the second one changed lanes so they were behind the first one.

I think they did that so we could get ahead of them,
I thought it was very considerate of them.

1901 – First Transatlantic Radio Signal
Guglielmo Marconi successfully transmitted the first radio signal across the Atlantic Ocean—a breakthrough that changed global communication forever.
Can you imagine how magical and unbelievable that must of been. Heck I don't understand radio waves today. I can't imagine being in the group that heard this first signal and trying to understand it all.

1964 – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Airs
The stop-motion holiday classic premiered on NBC and went on to become one of the most beloved Christmas specials of all time.

Do any of you remember the stop-motion Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer special? It made me a complete nervous wreck.

I was little, but I already understood how stop-motion animation worked—and that knowledge absolutely ruined me. All I could think about was how long it must have taken to move everything one tiny bit at a time. My brother and I once tried to make our own stop-motion movie with toy dinosaurs, and it took us forever just to get them to walk a few steps.

So when I watched Rudolph after that, instead of enjoying it, I sat there stressed out, mentally calculating the endless hours behind every single scene. At six years old.

Yes, I was weird.
Still am. 😄

What stressed you out as a kid?

Tricia
not holiday related but the Trilogy of Terror starring Karen Black in the 70s terrified me. That dang Zuni fetish doll gave me nightmares for months.

I’m still terrified of driving near or past one or getting passed !
Have wished they had their own separate lane far from my passenger sized car, the weight and size difference especially of the dual and triple long size

CDL licenses seem a bit to easy to acquire

Not exactly being scared for myself but I worry about cyclists and motor cyclists having to share the roads with cars.

Ooh yes to math! I struggled. I had an 8th grade math teacher who for some reason did not like me. The feeling became mutual. She loved to single me out and embarrass me.

The turkeys that roamed my aunt and uncles farm.

As a town girl I was obsessed with the farm cats and kittens living in the barn loft but I’d have to cross the farm yard to get there. The turkeys scared me so bad that if they were anywhere around, I’d run as fast as I could to get to the barn as quickly as possible. One time as they were chasing me I tripped and fell flat on my face. As I was falling I could imagine the turkeys pecking me to death, all bloody and raw, wondering if this was ‘the end’. But after a brief time….nothing. From the ground I slowly raised my head and glanced behind me. There they were all standing, just pecking around at bugs in the grass, as if they didn’t even notice me.

After I survived the turkey non-attack. my next fear became swarming bees, wasps and hornets.

I’m with @Eli9 and @killarney rose. Math class! I barely made it through Algebra and it was “recommended” that I take General Math during my last two years of high school.

I made it through college without taking a math class.
I failed a remedial course TWICE
My advisor was like well you made it through statistics so it will serve as cover for that.
Without that I might still be there in that remedial class, LOL

I was scared of the chooks we had.

My mother sometimes would ask me to go and collect their eggs.
We had tiny colourful bantam chooks. They laid tiny eggs.

They were really cute but I was scared of the way they looked at my ankles and i was scared of their sharp beaks.
Also I hated that I might step in their poo.

I had nightmares about a very old black and white movie I saw when I was small.
It was set somewhere in Africa.
The only bit I remembered was a lady in long white clothes in a clearing in the jungle.

I would have nightmares where I would see the lady in white and it terrified me.

I don't know what the movie was.
I've tried to find the movie over the years because I wanted to see what else happened that I might have blocked out.

When I was little I was chased by a wallaby that had escaped the zoo we lived in.
I was pushing my baby sister in her pram around the zoo.

I don't think the wallaby was really wanting to chase me but I was scared and I pushed that pram as fast as I could back to the house.

I think the poor wallaby just didn't want to be caged up and I don't blame it.

Another time we had a farm for a couple of years.
One day the pigs got out and were coming right at me.

I never ran so fast in my life.
