To add to my post above...

Shchedryk (Ukrainian: Щедрик)

is a famous Ukrainian New Year's song (shchedrivka)
created by Mykola Leontovych,
based on a folk melody
about a swallow bringing wealth in New Year
which in the English version by Peter J. Wilhousky
became the worldwide Christmas carol
"Carol of the Bells".

This song
is an example of the Ukrainian tradition
of singing good luck wishes,
which,
thanks to its brilliant arrangement,
turned into an international hit.

Our World 🌎 is a Global Village :)

GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY THREAD
SUNDAY DECEMBER 21ST 2025

✨ 1937 – The world met Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney’s first full-length animated feature.

People thought audiences would never sit through a cartoon that long.

Narrator voice: They absolutely did. 🍎

🏀 1891 – The first basketball game was played after James Naismith nailed peach baskets to a gym wall.
No slam dunks. No three-pointers. Just vibes… and probably a lot of arguing about rules.

🚀 1968Apollo 8 launched, becoming the first mission to carry humans to the Moon.
A few days later, they sent back the famous Earthrise photo

❄️ And of course… it’s the Winter Solstice — the shortest day of the year.
From here on out, the days get longer, the sun sticks around more, and hope quietly creeps back in. 🌞

Our summer weather is bringing out the crickets.
I thought oh no last night, one was chirping so loudly I thought it was in the house.

I had one in my bedroom a couple of years ago and I could not find it.
I had no sleep for a couple of days.

Anyway lasts nights one I figured was in the front garden.
I hope it hurries up and finds a mate :)
