Compared to me, you’re a baby! I graduated in 1971, which is pretty much Stone Age lol.

I would have graduated in 85 if pregnancy and the need to work full time hadn't gotten in the way of that. Funny how life has a way of "lifing" and changing all your plans.

Wow, I feel like a real antique! 🤣

Listen to Italians as they say:

"Age & Glasses of Wine
Should Never be Counted" :D

Also,
it is good to have a hubby who is an archeologist ;)

I mean,
the older one gets
the more precious one becomes 😁

JMO hehehe

I'm happy to see Websleuths thriving :) There were many times over the years when I worried that the site might not survive.

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Those of us of an age should take a little break and make some potholders.

Class of 93. I was going to be making a pumpkin trifle and fruit plate right now, but I am bowled over with period cramps and my normal chronic pain. Will wait until the pain subsides more before I do those.

I’ve never seen these before. Are they crisps? I don’t think they sell them on this side of the pond.
Yes, Gator. Crisps/ Chips. X

I'm Canadian and our Thanksgiving was in October. Which I'm glad of. It seems like so stressful to have it so close to Christmas like in the U.S.

You were one step ahead of me. I had to wear my brother's hand-me-down pants. Sears super cords. Brown.

I looked like his little brother.

I had to use my brothers' hand me down sports equipment. My sister was a figure skater but I wanted to play baseball and hockey like my brothers. That all came to a head one time at a hockey tournament in Michigan (I'm in Canada) where I was tending goal and one of my skates broke. Literally fell apart. On the ice. In the middle of a game. It was leather but had been through so many brothers by the time it got to me, it was so tired. 🤣 My Mom had to take me shopping before the next game lol.

It's all good. When I did get girl clothes of my own, my next younger brother got MY hand-me-downs. At 7, oh, how he rocked the capped sleeves!

I suspect there's a whole generation of us who grew up on thrift. And are probably better for it.

Can I get an "Amen!" for K-Mart blue-light specials, the home of every childhood Christmas gift I ever got?

I wouldn't actually trade my childhood for anything. I was loved and knew it.

JMO

My parents were very thrifty having lived through the 2nd world war. But we kids got a big surprise when they died. They had a lot more money than anyone would've ever thought. We still marvel at the secret stash they kept for us 7 kids. How did they do it? We'll never know. We all forgave them for the hand me downs then!
