Haha….no I can’t tie cherry stems in a knot with my tongue!!!!

Solving a Rubik’s cube is actually very straightforward. You just have to learn a series of moves. There are quite a lot to remember but it’s not difficult.

I learned the techniques from YouTube, which I find to be an amazing resource…..you can learn how to do just about anything!

I made some flash cards to remind myself of the steps & then it’s just a case of repeating it a zillion times until the moves are fixed inmy head.

I used to take it with me when I had time to fill eg waiting for an appointment, on a trai or plane journey.

Quite a sight, a nearly 68 yr old granny solving a Rubik’s cube.

It’s part of my brain-training to try & avoid dementia, along with learning Spanish & taking up new hobbies….most recently Metal Detecting & Archaeology.

I absolutely LOVE being retired!!!

I always wanted to figure out how to do the cherry stem thing. My little brother was the Rubix cube king. He knew the combo down pat. I never took the time but he was an ace with it.

reminds me of my all time favorite gift as a kid. Back when I was coming up boom boxes were a big deal. Then came the bone fone. Why it was called that I have no idea because it waaaay predated cell phones and was not a phone of any sort. It was a radio that you wore around your neck. I thought I was sooo cool wearing this around blasting the radio lol

Here are some tips. And I DO NOT mean anything sexual (cuz it's gonna sound that way). You use your tongue (obviously), the roof of your mouth, your teeth, and at times you'll suck in. More sucking if the stem is a shorter one. Longer ones are easier to work with.

And if you're doing one around the other... you ALWAYS need at least 1 with a long stem. That's the one that gets tied around the 2nd one.

"Here she comes. Quick! Someone order a drink with a cherry garnish." LOL

Boy, those were the days. lol And they are also the days I accidentally set my hair on fire. No one got hurt but I wasn't thrilled that all my friends just gaped at me open-mouthed in shock as fire shot up off the back of my head. No one came to put it out and it took a few second before someone said I was on fire. At least no one drunk tried to douse it by throwing a drink at it. That would have been disastrous.

I was an only child, but there were four little girls about my age on my block. Although I would have preferred to stay inside and read, my mom kicked me outside to play. Smart mom.

We rode our bikes, played tag, hopscotched, played with our Nancy Ann Story Book Dolls, made pot holders, played Parcheesi, played hide-and-go-seek and had a great time. Our street bordered the S.F. Bay, so we played on the beach when the tide was out, capturing crabs, and swam in the salt water when supervised. Looking back, that part of my childhood was idyllic.

Talking about tongues, when my kids were teenagers, the subject of inheritating traits came up.
It turned out two of my kids had the talent of being able to curl their tongues.

Must have been from their father because even though I tried and tried I was never able to do it.

Non-Catholic here, life-long Episcopalian. I go to a C of E church now that I live in the UK. Conveniently, there is a church right next door, across the alley.

I remember being terribly disappointed with my Easy Bake oven. All that, for a half-cooked cake even the dog thought was dubious?

I got a Rubik's cube in my Christmas stocking the year they were HOT. I hated it, because I was lucky to get one side, let alone two.

Uno! I had a big extended family and we played so much Uno and it would get wickedly competitive. Nothing like slamming down a +4 on your evil cousin Michael when he has one card left.

DS1 got a Rubick’s cube. His answer to solving it after multiple failed attempts and no patience was to peel the stickers off and put them back on like it was solved.

I'm a failure, I never even worked out one side of a Rubik's cube :)

No patience here, either.

A relatives child visiting one time, after we'd been to the cinema asked to use my computer,
to "copy and print out some more movie tickets"

I said no you could get into trouble, that's wrong! You can't do that.

He said "I could try"

Didnt see a baton being mentioned unless I missed it. Loved my baton. Always wanted the easy bake oven, but I supposed Santa couldn't get it through the chimney.
