Hey Everyone.
We are starting a new Websleuths Daily Thread. I took the title from my Catholic upbringing.
The Daily Thread will start on December 1st.
Years ago, I was a member of a forum called Justice Watch. It was great. It focused on the JonBenet case.
Justice Watch had a huge daily thread where everyone checked in every single day and talked about all kinds of things. It made us all feel like we were a team.
I hope you will join me on the Daily Thread.
Each month will have its own thread starting December 1st. Each day, I will start a new post under the Daily Thread. I'm up past midnight working anyway, so I'll title the post with the current date and then post about something in my life. After you realize how boring my life is, you will be grateful. Trust me. Heh.
On the last day of each month, I'll lock the thread and start a new one for the next month.
It's going to take a while to get it going, but I am not going to give up. It may be me babbling to myself for a while, but that's OK. I do that around the house all the time anyway. Ha.
It will be here in this forum Today on Websleuths. It will be public.
You can talk about anything. I hope we stay away from politics, but if we go down that road, we will deal with it when it happens.
The rules of Websleuths still apply. The biggest rule?

DON'T BE A JERK.
Sorry, didn't mean to yell.
What are your thoughts on the Daily Thread? Post them here, please.

See you on December 1st.
Tricia
PS. Here I am in all my dorky glory.
OMG WHO DRESSED ME???? I was 6 years old here. Plaid skirt, and I have no idea what that design is on my shirt. No wonder I stay in my house 24/7 and talk to myself. I was traumatized by my clothes.

Don't know about you but I am freaked out that Morgan Geyser the Slenderman stabber cut off her ankle bracelet and made a run for it.
What did the powers that be think she was going to do? She is mentally unhealthy and needs to be removed from society and given help, probably for the rest of her life.
I'm really traumatized by that picture of me in the first post.. Not in a big way, but in a "I'M SO EMBARRASSED" way.

What did people think when they saw me wandering around? What was my mum thinking when she dressed me? No wonder I have zero sense of style. LOL
Countdown to the Daily Thread. It's coming December 1st

I love this idea! And I too was traumatized by my clothes in elementary school school.

Even though I went to Catholic school for 12 years, luckily there was no wardrobe trauma because all the girls wore uniforms and the boys wore dress pants and shirts.

I’m no longer Catholic lol.

Hey @killarney rose I can't wait to hear about it. Feel free to post in this thread or to save your story for Dec 1st.
Just my adoptive mother wasn’t very nice. I had to wear the old fashioned clothes she chose rather than the cool, cute clothes the other girls wore.

Well, bless your heart, Tricia!
What would we do without you?!
Sounds like a great idea!

And the dress in the pic above -- kindergarten-chic -- been there, done that.
Even the blond straight-as-a-stick (as we say in the South) haircut -- and the bangs, too.
How many other "twins" are lurking out there??!!

Thanks for the flash from the past!

OH NO Killarney Rose I am so sorry. That does sound traumatizing.
We are here to listen if you want to post more.
My trauma was caused by me finding this picture as an adult and just being mortified. I wasn't suffering then. I was having a good time. Even with my tupperware bowl haircut. LOL

"Kindergarten chic." LOL That made me literally laugh out loud.
I hope other "twins" will post.
Come on now. I was brave enough to do. You can too.
Have you all ever seen this?
Awkward Family Photos. HILARIOUS
The Daily Thread coming December 1st

I love the idea of this thread and it's clever name @Tricia (I was also raised Catholic!)! And you don't need to ask me twice but you might be sorry you asked what is going on with me today!

Sooooo...I worked till 11pm last night and I've been up since 4:30am because this is the busiest few months at work, and we are short-staffed as usual. I'm doing the job of 3 people, and am super annoyed at all the partners who seem to not do anything but order us around. I am actually trying to take time off for Thanksgiving and people keep piling more stuff on my plate when all I want on my plate is Thanksgiving turkey and tons of stuffing! Grrrr! And speaking of Thanksgiving, I haven't had any time to go to the store and I have a prescription that I should have picked up Sunday but too busy working and I have a dentist appointment today that I can't reschedule because the next available is February and I'm freaking out because I'm sure I have a cavity and yes I'm stressed! LOL!

And on another note - I am SO bummed that I've only been able to attend one Guardians Zoom call! I take care of my niece and nephew every other weekend and they've just happened to fall on those weekends. I might be able to join the one coming up for the first hour. But I'm sad because I greatly enjoyed the first one!

Phew! Thanks for coming to my Ted talk and rant, hahaha.

P.S. Tricia I think you look adorable! I had some seriously awkward kindergarten photos, unlike the kids of today who seem to dress in all the latest cute fashions and have their own skin care and beauty regimes, haha.

May your God protect the junior school you from a TankTop-knitting Grandma.

Love the gas can sitting behind me. That looks safe. ETA: I have no idea why my jump rope is tied to my hula hoop. Perhaps I was hoping to lasso something?

You were one step ahead of me. I had to wear my brother's hand-me-down pants. Sears super cords. Brown.

I looked like his little brother.

Oh, Megnut, I’m so sorry.

How about this.

When I was about twelve my grandmother who was a seamstress, sent matching outfits for me and my seven year old sister. It was a suit with a skirt and little embroidered jacket.

I was mortified, even more so when my mother insisted on taking a photo of us wearing them to send her.

I never wore it again.

Oh, Megnut, I’m so sorry.

It's all good. When I did get girl clothes of my own, my next younger brother got MY hand-me-downs. At 7, oh, how he rocked the capped sleeves!

I suspect there's a whole generation of us who grew up on thrift. And are probably better for it.

Can I get an "Amen!" for K-Mart blue-light specials, the home of every childhood Christmas gift I ever got?

I wouldn't actually trade my childhood for anything. I was loved and knew it.

@MrsWatson I remember seeing pictures of my jump rope tied to my hula hoop too! I don't remember what in the world I did with it though.
That was about the same time (late 70s, early 80s) my grandpa and my dad used to go squirrel hunting. I thought it was so cool when they'd tie squirrel tails to the handlebars of my little red bike. 🤢 So disgusting! And I'm sure that was nice and sanitary. 🤣
