Going back to the beginning

If this person’s theory is correct, HaLeigh had a close relationship with the person who picked her up while she was sleeping.

Nancy Grace Show, 02/11/09 http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0902/11/ng.01.html

<snip>

LINDA: My question is, all three of them were in the bed together. It just amazes me to think that -- I know being a mother myself, if someone comes into the room, I sense this. And -- but on the child`s part, if a child is picked up when they are dead asleep, they normally have a reaction. It`s a gasp, a whatever, unless they know the person.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Haleigh was sleeping in the bedroom with her 2-year-old brother and her dad`s 17-year-old girlfriend, who says she didn`t wake up or hear anything.

Haleigh’s younger brother Junior, who shares his father’s name, Ronald LeMyles Cummings was born February 15, 2005. Ronnie Jr was 4 years old, not 2, when HaLeigh vanished.

Junior was 6 months old when Ron “stole” the children from Crystal who said when she left Ron, she wanted to get as far away as possible from him.

We have specific threads that ask for "facts" to help all of us here to figure out what is established and what is "opinion". It is obvious that you are sensitive to being asked to establish why your opinion was described as "fact". It was not meant to insult you. Simply to establish why you described it as such. I too have followed this case from day one. As a matter of fact, I've been to Satsuma searching for Haleigh. Not looking for a pat on the back, just simply trying to let you know that I too have a long emotional vested interest as to what happened to her.

If it came across as being overly snarky I apologize.. It is hard to read the inflection of words on a computer screen..and I realize what may be a commonly used phrase by me may not be common to others..

I do post very rarely in this specific forum{tho read this forum daily} and it is because of the emotions that are rightfully so attached with Haleigh's case.. I understand as I too have great emotion where Haleigh is concerned.. Tho, I am not fearful to post my opinions and views concerning this tragic case I am however aware that my opinion is different than most and I do not like to stir the pot of emotion, nor be brow beat for my opinions/views..{and that is in no way meant in a whining&complaining way rather just trying to explain why the sensitivity}
So, you are possibly correct in that I may have replied out of sensitivity and for that I apologize..

As for your having been involved in searching for precious Haleigh.. I realize you do not need a pat on the back.. However I do say a heartfelt thank you for those of us who are not able to be directly involved in searching for her.. And I only pray that sometime in the very near future that the path to where she is presently will somehow be "shown"..so that finally those who truly loved Haleigh will be granted the closure to begin the long hard road of grieving Haleigh's death and that Haleigh be buried with the dignity and respect that she was NOT shown in her much too short life here on this earth..

Misty said she felt Junior roll over her and leave the bedroom Monday while she was dozing off to sleep and she has no idea what he did after that but when she woke up he was lying beside her. Junior was 4-years old when his sister vanished and Misty allowed him to stay up unsupervised way past his bedtime, which was when exactly?

Misty said it took HaLeigh 30-40 minutes to fall asleep and IMO HaLeigh should have been asleep within 5 minutes. Did a fight or argument occur between Misty and HaLeigh because HaLiegh wouldn’t go to bed or did it take HaLeigh 30-40 minutes because she was watching her movie? Misty said the children were watching movies after supper and HaLeigh’s bedtime was 8 o’clock because she had school the next day. She said she helped HaLeigh do her homework and washed her blankets. HaLeigh took off her tan shorts and slept in a pink t-shirt and underwear. HaLeigh hates to wear clothes according to Misty but she wanted to go to her granny's Monday morning so she could wear an outfit she liked to school.

Misty said she didn’t ever stop Junior from leaving the bedroom after she went to bed, so why was it unusual for Misty to wake up and find a light on? Junior had left the bedroom and Ron was due to come home before 3 am. Seriously though, if Junior and HaLeigh were afraid of the dark and the trailer was pitch black, why would junior leave the bedroom? A bathroom was in the master bedroom. Although Ron said the trailer was pitched dark inside at night, the light on the lampposts outside the trailer apparently did permit enough light for a person to see there way around inside.

Misty stood up right in front of HaLeigh’s mattress and didn’t notice HaLeigh wasn’t in her bed yet when she walked into the kitchen, she immediately realized the inside door was slightly ajar. If the kitchen light was on and not the one in the hallway, AFAIK, it would cast a shadow across the back inside door making it difficult to tell if it was open or not. It doesn’t make sense to me why the kitchen light was on and not the one in the hallway.

TN said there was always laundry on the floor but according to Detective Gary Bowling, there was none holding the inside back door wide open and the natural position of the back door is to fall to about 6” closed and that’s how the door was found. He said the inside door remains slightly ajar (4:37 mm) and was not “wide open”. The fact Misty even noticed the inside door was open in the far corner of a dark hallway surprises me. IMO most people would miss it the first time they looked at it.

Most parents of a 4-year old would not allow their children to do what Misty allowed Junior to do; stay up unsupervised past his bedtime. Most parents would take charge and make the child understand it is his bedtime and he has to stay in bed and go to sleep. They would be firm and not allow the child to have his way. If necessary, they might withhold privileges until he learns to cooperate and do as he is told. MO.

Hi, I like your posts even though I usually have a different view on a lot of what you have posted. I realize you are not addressing me above, but I hope you won't mind if I comment.

I think the phrase you used that raised eyebrows was "for the simple fact..." I use that phrase often in real life. I try not to use it in a post because with this case most of us hunger for a real fact if ever we can get one. It is easy to be misunderstood when you use common phrases here in this forum...I at times have used some phrases that caused a commotion of sorts, without really intending to.

All is well now that we understand you were not really stating fact, but rather speaking in your post as you do in real life. At least, that's what I got from your explanation.

We are all sort of touchy, I think, when we hear someone state something as fact. One thing that is fact is that this case is rife with rumors being stated as fact.

We post opinions here for the most part, but when we post facts, we have links or something to back them up. Unfortunately, in this case the opinions and rumors are numerous, while facts are so few that when we see something stated as fact, we question it.

NANCY GRACE Haleigh`s Mother Accuses the Dad of Physical Abuse to the Children
Aired March 18, 2009 - 20:00:00 ET
http://edition.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0903/18/ng.01.html

KIM PICAZIO: We have also gone to DCF and explained all of the facts that we`ve gotten from the community members who have come to us. We have checked and double-checked these facts. We felt that it has risen to the level where we needed to go to the Department of Children and Families because we felt that the welfare of the child, Junior, who remains in the Cummings household, is in danger.

GRACE: So are you telling me that she has gone to DFACS before now?

PICAZIO: Yes. Yes, on numerous occasions. So has her mother and so has Ronald, the next girlfriend that followed Miss Sheffield also called Department of Children and Families on Mr. Cummings regarding his maltreatment of the children.

HARRIS: Well, I can tell you that, certainly, Ronald would dispute that, but as far as one of the incidents, it looks like when she was -- was hit by a stick on the leg, I know that DFACS, I`m told did investigate that and found it to rise the level of natural discipline, a discipline that was, you know, within the law.

I cannot confirm other than that one incident. The other picture of Haleigh with the bruised nose and eyes, it doesn`t look good. And I don`t -- I know that that is what they have in their possession right now and plan to give DFACS.

GRACE: Marc Klaas, president and founder of KlaasKids Foundation. If these photos exist, Marc, we`ve got a big problem. This puts an entirely different light on the investigation.

MARC KLAAS, PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER, KLAASKIDS FOUNDATION: Well, yes, but what are we talking about here? You know, my heart is sinking as I listen to all of this. And what`s left of my heart, Crystal, goes out to you. Because I understand what it`s like to lose a child. And I understand the fear and the pain that one goes through during the investigation.

But this path that you`re headed upon now is a complete distraction from the point at hand. And this is something that Ron continually reminds people. Find Haleigh. Don`t take the focus off of Haleigh. And what you`re doing now, if it`s true, has a place. But that place is not to be prosecuting this guy on national TV. This is something that should be done in private.

GRACE: But wait a minute. Hold on, Marc Klaas.

KLAAS: Yes.

GRACE: If there was physical abuse in the home, if.

KLAAS: OK.

GRACE: That`s a big if.

KLAAS: It sure is.

GRACE: But if there was.

KLAAS: Yes, it is.

GRACE: doesn`t that put the disappearance of Haleigh in a different light to you?

KLAAS: I`m not going to go there. I mean, this little girl`s gone. And there`s no -- I have -- I have no expectation that Ron is involved in the disappearance of his little girl. I mean he`s been awfully consistent.

GRACE: You know what, you`re absolutely correct, Marc.

KLAAS: He`s been awfully consistent.

GRACE: You`re absolutely correct. He was at work that evening. Police have confirmed and double confirmed it. You`re right, Marc Klaas.

NANCY GRACE, HOST: Ladies, please, do not misinterpret me. I`m being harsh because I`m concerned about the timing of your allegations. However, if your allegations are, in fact, true and these children have been abused in the home of Ronald Cummings, then he should answer up to the full, the full treatment the law can provide to him.

RENEE ROCKWELL, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: Well, Nancy, you know, first of all, that custody is never chiseled in stone. It can change, yearly, monthly, daily, weekly. We have a situation here where if she`s just now getting the resources to put her story forward, then she needs to go for it.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: When a parent beats a child until the child is bloodied, that is a crime.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Haleigh`s dad`s grandma says any claims of abuse are absolute lies.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It enrages me. It really does. I`ve been around these children all their life. They`re happy. They`re loved.

When LE had possession of 202 Greene Lane, did they go there after dark to search for answers?

Speaking of going back to the beginning, I'm still dumbfounded with all of them staying in tents. I have to tell you, that's a first in a missing child case.

That very first interview with ron tells the whole story. He, without any doubt, knew that Haleigh had died. He also was home before 3:23am...imo. I think if ever LE talks, it will be stated he was home prior to the time he said.

Tim Miller told us that ron put a gun in his mouth (not the first time). rc stated that if misty was involved in this, he would blow her teeth out....THEN he says he will kill himself and take some others with him.

WTH is this all about? He said he will kill himself and others if misty is guilty. Can anyone make sense of this? There's a story here. Why would he say this?

First, I do believe this episode took place and that TM quoted exactly what RC said. My first thoughts when I heard of it was that Ron vowed to kill Misty if she harmed his daughter because he had vowed to kill whoever it was that harmed Haleigh. But if it was Misty, he would be guilty by association...because he brought Misty into his children's lives.

RC might have felt he should die if he was guilty of putting Haleigh in harm's way so, after doing Misty in, he would kill himself. OR...RC said it without really meaning he would kill himself; it was said for affect only because RC is a drama queen.

I went with the first option in the beginning--that Ron was stating he would feel guilty if it came out Misty was the perp--but changed my mind to the drama queen version when they were all arrested for drugs. Reason: Haleigh's demise should have been an eye-opener for Ronald Cummings to finally grow up! and do everything humanly possible to protect the son still in his custody. But it wasn't.

Who lived in Ron's tent with him? TIA

Who stayed in the tent? I'm guesing his mommy for one...

His mother had a home nearby allegedly. His GMA lived nearby, Katrina lived nearby....but ron wanted to keep an eye on LE and what they were doing. As long as he could get cable into the tent for his widescreen, he was good to go..imo.

Craziest darn thing I've ever seen...in a missing child case.

I suspect there were clothes on the floor at the side entry. I also suspect ron was picking them up and putting them in the dryer while misty was on the phone. With ron, it is all about image. The place wasn't tidy for the LE, so ron said he came home and "tore the place up looking for Haleigh', i.e. his excuse for it being messy.

You forgot to mention his tent was set up almost directly across from where Tommy and Lindsy lived and I suspect he was keeping an eye on what Misty and the Croslins were doing too....

I agree....It is crazy...

I agree...this is also just as crazy...

Wasn't the dumpster the dogs hit on...just beyond the tent...like...there was a fence near the tent...across from.... Tommy's house....and the dumpster..was near the fence...??

Please correct me if I am wrong about this....TIA..

oh, Imo Ronald knew exactly what went on in that mobile home the evening that Haleigh disappeared. He probably did have a hard time going back in there, but did not want anyone else to know that. He could not just completely back off, how would that look? So a tent, a poor me, a keeping a good eye on the situation, that might work out fine. Anyone who quesioned him was ousted (Geraldo). At that point from his own words, he just wanted his childs life back. And his mom knew too. Haleigh was gone already. They knew.
