I think everything has changed since the advent of the internet and rolling 24 hour a day news. Each channel /paper wants the most sensational stories for ad clicks or journalists copy and paste stories from the same source.Real investigative journalism is becoming rarer.

I’m an artist making art by responding to and highlighting domestic violence and Femicide at the moment and wanted to share a (real) psychologists explanation for these dreadful crimes. It is felt that
the psychology behind Femicide is that the particular man is overly reliant on the woman who usually has a stable, strong, independent personality. Because of the man’s psychological dependance (as narcissists they need a “supply’ to “survive” they base their self-worth on the relationship and need to control their ‘source’. When control is resisted, they then kill, from a position of weakness and fear. Not strength. Caroline was his strength. So tragic

Really interesting that you say this because I have previously shared what my psychologist said about my situation and it was exactly what you have said - only my psychologist termed it ‘mirroring’ where the husbands takes his self worth from his wife and mirrors her actions to become his own and when she is in some way unable to be on the top of the pedestal for whatever reason, he sees his world come crumbling down around him because he no longer has a supply of self worth to tap into and alone he feels like a ‘nothing’ person without her , his bauble, on his arm ! I lived it !

The info on the dog is confusing; the press continuously reports that Bruno is a Husky yet the shelter where the family got the dog says that Roxy is a collie mix. Turns out, she was a Roxy. See this earlier post:

That sounds like a very similar observation. You’re right. These men do seem to feel better about themselves if they have an attractive partner. It was explained to me that it makes them feel that they must be likeable and worth something. They seem to live vicariously to plug the gaping hole in their empty psyche’s…I’m sorry you had to endure that type. I did too and escaped death by seconds. I’d like to see more awareness of the ‘type’ in schools as they’re not special or clever but a common type that’s easily identified if you know what to look for. Caroline obviously saw it and tried to get out; clever girl. Maybe more awareness about how to get out safely would help reduce these sad endings to these twisted fairy tales : (

Well well well, turns out there weren't robbers after all, color me shocked, shocked I tell you. /end sarcasm

I am a little bit shocked that he confessed though but Greek law-enforcement did a great job at completely catching him off guard in every way, lulling him into a false sense of security, then catching him at a vulnerable moment, helicoptering him back to Athens. Job well done!

Of course take his confession with a large grain of salt, they're typically full of self-serving lies. Obviously there was a fight (via text), but I don't believe for a second that Caroline hit him. It's always the same with these guys "it's her fault, she made me do it."

While narcissistic wife killers are unfortunately a dime a dozen, his brutal murder of the dog ranks him right up there with the most despicable, a close second to Chris Watts who killed his wife, and his baby girls and dumped their bodies in oil tanks and then tried to pin the murder of the girls on his dead wife.

I also I'm not buying into any redemption for that fake psychotherapist. She says Babis asked her to say nice things about her marriage? I have a strong feeling that he paid her handsomely for that, and as well for those therapy lessons in which controlling and gaslighting Caroline was the objective. I hope I'm wrong because it's just too sad to think that somebody that could have helped Caroline did not, because money was more important. Of course now she's singing like a canary to save her own hide. So color me skeptical.

And like many of you, I can't stand to read anything about the dog, I just have a major soft spot for animals, I can't even bring myself to look at its poor picture, it will break my heart, in this case is already way too heartbreaking. Poor Carolyn. Poor Lydia. And all those who love them.

It’s very late now but if you like I will talk more about the situation on private conversation because interestingly I was also in charge of the DV police unit in 2005 and in fact I set up the very first DV unit in a different Police Force to the one where I headed up the DV unit in 2005 and that was in 1989/1990 ! And yet I too was a DV victim at home where I was the little housewife who was compliant and submissive and walked on eggshells and agreed to everything because it’s easier to give a kid candy than say no! But on the outside we portrayed a perfect marriage.
