On age: Internationally, C was legally 19 years old when B murdered her. In some parts of Greece, however, like China and Japan, she was considered 20, since some people still follow the tradition of counting the gestation period as a year. This helps make sense of the press referring to her as 20, but... why was her daughter referred to as 11 months instead of a year and 11 months? Who knows, regardless of 19 or 20, her relationship with B was not normal.

Ok, so if she was legally 19 in May, 2021, when B murdered her, and her bday wasn't until July, that means that when C and B married in May of 2018, she was only 16, 2 months shy of her 17th bday! In Greece, you have to be 18 in order to get married (16 for consensual intercourse, as @MsBetsy previously clarified for us.

I thought B will surely be stripped of parental rights but I was naive. I've just read that according to some politicians in Greece "an abusive husband doesnt necessarily mean that he isn't a good father". Hmm

It's not much different in the US. Parents still have rights to things like decision making and visitation as long as the child is not abused or neglected.

For him it may just mean he can participate in important decisions about the child, such as custody, educational and medical, while he's in prison.

Even parents who abuse their children eventually may be granted supervised visitation.

For now, he's presumed innocent until proven guilty but once he's convicted he may not get to see her until she is fully grown. Imo

Thank you for posting this article. If there is one disturbing image that summarizes this case for me it is the picture of her gravestone. She's young, beautiful and looks so happy... But we all know now she was lured into her marriage by a predator who allegedly took her life and ripped a mother away from her precious baby. IMO the gravestone should be a picture of mother and daughter forever linked in love and zero reference to her sham of a marriage.

Gets married - 18 years on the nose (July 2019) they get married on their second anniversary there or thereabouts as that’s what the caption said on the SM which is now private which means they met in July 2017 when she was 16 or just about to turn 16 (as the sources said they met at easter) so she was probably 15 then when they met but officially started dating when she was 16 in july.

The little girl – whose mother is dead and whose father will be in jail for at least the rest of her childhood – is currently being looked after by her paternal grandparents in Athens. Anagnostopoulos's parents yesterday declared they want to play a part in her upbringing too.

Most of the MSM say she got married in 2018 and being underage, that's why they married in Portugal. ...but if she did marry in 2019, she'd be legally 18?

eta: Born in July 2001, died in May 2021, she was a teenager for the entire relationship/marriage, while this guy was in his late 20s/early 30s.

I've been following this story since B's first interview lying about foreigners torturing and killing his wife in front of their baby. Like C, I'm a Filipino who was born and raised abroad. I live in the Philippines now and C looks a lot like a relative of mine.

From the beginning, C's ethnicity would get brought up in the various forums I read, mostly about her mom and cultural differences. Some people brought up that B had a fetish for C. I tried to dismiss it and give B the benefit of the doubt in the beginning. Sometimes, you don't always want to think it just comes down to race and the stereotypes involved. It seems clear to me now that her Eurasian looks did have something to do with why a 28 year old full grown man would take interest in a 15 year old girl.

I saw her instagram account. She had several pictures with B on vacation in the Philippines in 2017. I found it somewhat suspicious that the pictures were all on a particular island where you see many older white men with very young local women or girls. At first, I dismissed it and thought that island has good diving spots. Yet, I couldn't help but wonder why they would come all the way from Europe and go to that island when there are much better diving areas in the country like Palawan.

Caroline was young and had the looks he wanted but she grew up in Europe and had a British passport. She had a lot of options and opportunities. She was growing into a woman and probably didn't conform to that docile, submissive stereotype he fantasized about when he first saw her at 15.

Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if he got out in 20 years, came back to the Philippines and found himself another teenager to control and fulfill his fantasies. Next time, he'll probably choose someone very poor, maybe one of the numerous Amerasian girls living near the abandoned U.S. Naval bases trying to find a way to take care of her family.

He killed his teenage wife and her puppy in front of his baby daughter. I feel really nervous for the next girl he finds when he gets out of prison, if he goes to prison.
