Typical victim blaming! B seems to be trying to get away with manslaughter rather than premeditated murder.
He is. The way he and his lawyer describe it, this was a crime of passion. Babis was afraid she'd hurt the baby, she was violent, she threatened to leave, etc. He could have immediately called for help and probably would have been out of prison in a few years if he "accidentally" killed her.

I'm curious who leaked those particular parts of her diary to the media, since just about all of them are biased. It can't be a coincidence they all happen to support his narrative.

IMO

Part 3

Notes included in the file are also of her mother's testimony, who said she had not noticed particular issues in the couple. She added that between November 2020 and February 2021 the couple had contacted a specialist to handle the miscarriage and the new pregnancy, for their current child, which had complications.

Police said there is no evidence of other people being present in the crime scene

He's changing his story constantly to whatever looks best for him.

IMO he is dramatising the whole scenario so that he appears to to be less culpable and is trying to gain public sympathy to the extent that he alludes to C "throwing" Lydia into her cot rather than "placing" her into it.
Well, yeah, that's definitely the most likely scenario... and unfortunately some people are already falling for it...Like, yeah, the loving father couldn't care less about his 11 month old daughter, when he killed her mother and placed her on a bed unattended, right next to her mother's corpse, but now he worries about her, and whom she's gonna end up with. Sure, B.

Husband of slain young wife in Glyka Nera to testify before prosecutor on Tuesday

An Athens prosecutor gave Babis Anagnostopoulos, self-confessed murderer of his young wife at Glyka Nera, until 10:00 on Tuesday to prepare his defense, it was reported on Friday.

On Friday Anagnostopoulos was charged with the murder of Caroline Crouch, his 20-year-old wife and mother of their 11-month infant, after appearing before a public prosecutor in Athens. He will also face a criminal charge of animal abuse for the killing of the family's dog and lesser charges for giving false testimony to the police and casting suspicion on others for his actions.

Yes, I saw that earlier and read that it was "the couple" that ended the sessions in February. Was this the same specialist LE interviewed that has been talked about so much in the media?

Vassilis Spirou, the pilot's lawyer, told reporters that his client "said he is shattered by the fact of Caroline's death." Spirou added that his client "feels relieved" after confessing his crime.

The 33-year-old man told police he staged a robbery that led authorities astray "to be able to stay out of jail with my child," police said at a briefing on Friday.

Police said that he had confessed to the crime, to staging the death and the robbery and to removing evidence from the surveillance camera.

I think little Lydia should be brought up in a normal, functional family with siblings and young parents. I mean - maybe C's older sister? In another country? Far away from this tragedy? I read it will be decided soon by a Court.

Ms Crouch’s diary entries show how the couple had a fiery and toxic relationship, amna.gr reports.

In one she wrote: “I fought with Babi again. This time it was serious.

“I hit him, I cursed at him and he broke down the door.

“All I wanted was for him to ask how I am when I woke up. I woke up so weak and tired.

“I am thinking of leaving. I am thinking of going to my sister, I don’t know if I can keep going with Babi.

“I love him so much that I can’t leave him even though this relationship hurts me.”

When pregnant with Lydia in 2019, Caroline wrote: “Last night we fought with Babi because I had a meltdown because of my hormones.

“I yelled at him and hit him and told him I don’t want our baby...

“I am not well, I am very upset, I know he would never hurt my baby.

“My love for her is stronger than anything in the world.”

Yahoo is now a part of Verizon Media

On July 3, 2020, when her baby daughter Lydia was a month old, Caroline wrote: “Today my little one is a month old- it’s also the day I told Babi I want to leave...I feel awful.”

He's changing his story constantly to whatever looks best for him.
At first, he stated that he lost it while they were fighting, and he killed her.
Now, he's stating that they had an argument earlier, then she went to sleep, then he woke her up, scolded her for her behavior, and ended up hugging her to death "accidentally".
Next week, it's gonna be that she was sleeping, and he was about to wake her up to tell her to move a bit, because she had taken up the entire space on the bed, but then a frisbee came in flying through the window, and hit him on the head, and knocked him out (for about 10 minutes) , and he fell on top of her, and his body weight caused her to get smothered with the pillow, and then he woke up, saw what happened, panicked that the police wouldn't believe his story, so he staged a robbery. Mark my words.

It's curious that these details were amongst the first (conflicting) reports to emerge -

12th May -

"Some conflicting reports say husband Charalambos was found sleeping in another room by the killers."

Local site Proto Thema reports that...The same report quotes the pilot as telling police he was sleeping downstairs during the break-in. “When I managed to break free, I rushed upstairs to the attic to find my wife on the floor facing down, and the baby next to her wailing,” he reportedly told cops.

12th May -

The 32-year-old Babis heard a noise and the dog barking and went down to the living room, where he came face to face with the three hooded robbers,

Guess I wasn't too far off the mark in the beginning when I said this case is one of those 'choose your own adventure' books. Today, I decided to turn to p18, in which we find the deceased lying prone on the kitchen floor with a knife in her back. The baby is sitting on top of her, the husband, nowhere to be found. It's completely different from yesterday's choice, where she was found in the laundry room, sprawled across the dryer, clearly suffocated with a lint sheet and a pair of socks. The baby was sleeping in the laundry sink with one of the cats. ...

But at least we are spared from ever changing descriptions of "foreign gangs" speaking in "Broken Greek " swinging Silver Colts. If they continued there might be no more countries left to choose from! :)

There have been reports of how a 32-year-old pilot helicopter had the financial ability to buy land in an expensive area of Attica/Athens,
and they leave censure for the origin of his financial prosperity. The reports saying that the monster had an extramarital affair or for having at home some strange "commodities", drugs? smuggled items? what?
Given out our geographical location (Balkans) i am not surprised. Mr. Katerinopoulos on the show Light in the Tunnel 6/18/21
said that one of the couple rented or was looking to rent a house in the area of Souda (Crete) located near the American Base.
He also said that the crime was not committed for the reasons the offender presents . He said that his motive was different and the investigator needs to interrogate the pilot more so he can figure out the real reason.
He said Caroline probably learned about these illegal activities and had to pay for this with her life. He said he may not have had an accomplice but moral accomplice.
Angeliki Nikolouli received a phone call which made her pale and hang up shortly after the phone with characteristic movement, something we have not seen her do again. Apparently the public does not know the ENTIRE truth.
Angeliki Nikolouli insists that the owner of the black BMW has something to do with the crime. did they come to get something from home?

I think it was in his original interrogation that he said he lay down next to her and tried to hold her tightly. There were probably inconsistencies in his story, but I do remember the part about him saying he lay down gently beside her and pushing her head into the pillow. He did say they were arguing, and that she punched him and threw the baby in the crib, but he made it sound as if they were arguing continously until just before he went upstairs. But the data shows that she slept for a period of time, so maybe they confronted him with the evidence and he changed his story.

The interrogation apparently lasted at least eight hours and once he had a lawyer, he was probably advised not to say anymore.

Either way, there's not much more he can say. LE has enough evidence to contradict his story. The defense will probably continue to paint him as a victim and Caroline as the instigator.

Who is Angeliki Nikolouli?

Greece's very own Agatha Christie - except that she investigates real rather than fictional murders

Her current, three hour, live (!) TV show in Greece- Light In The Tunnel- is on for almost 17 years but she still works with the same passion and eagerness as if she was a newbie. Aggeliki doesn’t do mediocre-and neither do her ratings. Every Friday night the show’s ratings skyrocket and Greeks stay tuned to her breathtaking revelations until two o’clock in the morning, driving the advertisers crazy.

Through her show Nikolouli has brought to light numerous cases of murders, rapes and abductions and has traced tens of hundreds people officially reported as missing from the police. She has won countless journalist awards in Greece and she even won a Guinness prize for tracing hundreds of people who were missing for more than fifty years. Aggeliki is known for being hard working, and methodological. She is a quick study, receptive to feedback on what is working and what doesn’t with a stunning grasp of research detail. She has revealed tens of eye-popping murder cases that Greece’s bureaucrats were either unwilling or unable to resolve “It’s frustrating to see that Greek authorities don’t do their job right. Sometimes they do it on purpose others they just don’t care or they haven’t got the know-how to conduct a proper research… There are people who suffer waiting for an answer. Mothers, wives, children, living each day in agony….”.

I get a feeling that he was gaslighting her. Some people can be so psychologically manipulative that they convince you that you are the problem. In the diary entries Caroline says 'I am not well' and that is what gaslighters do, convince you that you are mentally ill and also those around you that you're 'not normal'.

Caroline only mentions the ways in which she hurt Babis but nothing of what he did to her, because he's already convinced her that she's provoked him, is unstable and caused the fight with her hormones and episodes. Gaslighters tell their victims things like ‘You're very sick, I’m worried you may hurt the baby’ so in turn, you start to analyse yourself and feel that you are failing as a mother. They alter your perception of reality and will be very convincing after an argument, ‘you said this’ ‘you did that for no reason’, making you doubt your own recollection of things. You eventually end up actually feeling mentally ill because they have lied and manipulated you into thinking that you are ‘not right in the head’. You feel depressed and worthless because they have taken your self esteem, they tell you ‘you need mental help’.

They tell you ‘you’re paranoid’, they do something like set up cameras in the house to watch your every move when you ask why they tell you they are worried about your mental health and want to keep an eye on you just incase you hurt the baby, then play footage back to you later on with quick fire questions ‘who were you on the phone to then?’ ‘Where’s the baby whilst your doing that’ they pull at you until you doubt your abilities as a mother, wife and human being. You want to leave but they will tell you ‘I will win custody of the kids because you are mentally unstable’ you feel very trapped, isolated and useless, and are too ashamed to tell family or friends about what’s happening because you feel so embarrassed about your ‘behaviour’, because he has you convinced that you started the argument, that you were the irrational crazy abusive one and they will tell you a version of events that you’re sure never happened so convincingly that you doubt your own memory.

These people are very clever and dangerous, once they realise you are leaving them they will plan to kill you.
