Hope big old Tammy gets enough to eat on Thanksgiving. She loves her gravy...

Yes, it's so terribly sad. And unjust. And inhumane.

With SM's parole hearing coming up soon, I've been wondering what he would do to not have to spend another holiday in prison (or the very least amount possible).

Would he make a deal with prosecutors and turn on the MRS? Now would be the time for his lawyer to broach the subject with the DA's office, I'm sure his cooperation would rely on his getting paroled and out of there first.

I guess I'm just thinking out loud, trying to figure out how this would work, if he had the fortitude to tell the truth and allow Heather's parents to have her back while sealing his wife's fate, and possibly, knowingly, giving himself more time behind bars (but less than if he's found guilty of the kidnapping charge).

Just pondering.

I actually wonder if he is denied parole at this hearing that he would be more open to a deal after that either gave him a leg up on appeal or a quicker next hearing. I'm not sure if you can appeal a parole hearing or if it's just "too bad, not yet, try again in 2 years..."

ETA: Watching the Law and Crime Network idiocy re:closing arguments and I am once again shocked at how little these so called professional attorneys seem to know about law, jury management, the current temperature of justice in the USA, and this case in general. I am a LivePD fan, and I expect more from Dan Abrams so this makes me frustrated and disgusted. If I can figure it out when the closest I've been is a legal Assistant then that they can't is terrifying. They need to be not practicing law.

I tend to think the parole board's decision is final and no appeals (at least I've never heard of any being lodged/won but maybe it varies state by state, I don't know. That's why I was thinking if he made a deal with the DA before his hearing, the DA could "put in a good word" for him and aid his parole being approved.

But it could all be moot if SM is more afraid of TM than the thugs in prison, or thinks trying to make any deal at all is tantamount to confessing and guaranteeing a murder charge. He may think his odds of beating the kidnapping charge is better than TM's since he likely (again) won't testify and he still has the same judge.

ETA: I don't watch the commentary on L&C (makes me crazy) and pass up trials that only have the network stream where you can't avoid the commentary. I like CC and the gang but can't handle the other stuff.

So, still reading along with you guys as deliberations start and a jury member was replaced and I kept expecting a local to mention this but I have yet to see it other than that it appeared something was going around the courtroom. So let me expand...

When Hurricane Florence hit it was hard, the wind, the rain, the flooding, it was extreme and it was sustained. It was the longest storm I have ever been through, including blizzards and ice storms as a child. This thing CRAWLED. Literally, I could have walked faster than her. For reference, the eye came on shore at Wrightsville Beach, NC around 7:45 am the Friday of the storm. That is about an hour and a half away from my house give or take with traffic through Wilmington. The eye did not reach my house until 7 am the SATURDAY morning of the storm. Next, from my house to Conway is maybe 30 minutes depending on traffic. The eye didn't get to Conway until that evening. Between me and Conway, it was moving 2mph. 2. miles. per. hour. Now imagine you are a tree, specifically imagine a Bradford pear because those are planted in landscaping abundantly here, and they bloom in the spring. You are out in this wind and rain for basically 3 straight days. It is pounding you, like tiny knives. The water is rising around your feet and you feel like the ground is turning into a sandy beach. You are struggling to stay upright. After 3 days, wouldn't you be tired? stressed? scared you weren't going to make it?

That is exactly how the flora around here felt. I had this conversation with a local meteorologist (Jamie Arnold) soon after the storm because a bunch of us had noticed the same thing: a second spring. You see when the plants and bushes and trees become stressed they pollinate. Because they think they are going to die, and they want to spread their offspring before they do. A school near my work has about 10 Bradford pear trees planted out front and when they started blooming again it was only on half the tree, the half that faced the front of the hurricane, that bore the brunt of the storm. It was kind of freaky. Other plants also bloomed, which caused those of us with spring allergies to have a second round of them.

Additionally, the hurricane stirred up all kinds of dust and dirt and chemicals and nasty. The flooding brought mold, black mold. The level of disgusting in the air was horrifying. In areas that flooded the scent was actual death. It smelled like decay and blood, and rotting fish and even those words cannot describe it. It was enough to make anyone physically ill. Since then I have basically been sick non-stop. The allergies, triggering my asthma, the mold and crap in the air, I have had sinus pain and pressure and congestion and twice I have had to have antibiotics and prednisone to treat sinus infections. All in 2 months. I have no doubt whatsoever that the fever was real, and that there was something, or multiple things, going around that courtroom. I don't THINK the courthouse flooded, I don't remember seeing a picture of it, but if you look up the city of Conway's facebook page they have posted pictures of the flooding downtown and it's all around it. Some of those jurors may have even been still evacuated from their homes while waiting for FEMA. A friend of mine lives halfway between here and Conway a block from the Waccamaw River, in a house on 14 ft stilts. She got water 4 feet up the walls of her house, that's 18 feet of water. She just now got it all torn out and her insurance quote back. Her family wasn't even home for the holiday, they are staying with other friends. When she went back to her house at first there was black mold, and the water hadn't even fully receeded, she had to use a boat to get to her stairs. (A boat also HIT HER HOUSE, 14 feet in the air and a boat hit her house.) She had to wear a mask and even still got sick from it.

Just wanted to give a little perspective, even though I'm late, on what may have caused so many to be sick. Also just occured to me, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Ms house flooded. I know PTL did.

Here’s when Sidney Moorer could be paroled for obstructing Heather Elvis investigation

November 23, 2018

"Sidney Moorer could be out of prison as soon as this week if he is granted parole.

The accused kidnapper is set for a parole hearing on Tuesday on an obstruction of justice sentence. He was found guilty of stalling the investigation of Heather Elvis in 2013 and sentenced to 10 years in prison....

While Sidney could be granted parole this week, his Department of Corrections information reports lists his projected released date as Nov. 19, 2021."

In her closing, Nancy said they lured Heather to LB and that Tammy would know how much she hated Heather after she took the pregnancy test. I'd love to know her exact theory, but it sounds to me like she thinks they lured her to LB to pick up the pregnancy test and then Heather went home to do the test. Then Heather called SM with the results (with TM listening in) and he told her to go to the landing.

That is actually my opinion as well. I think SM gave HE the test at LB, told her to go take it and then call him and he would meet her at the landing to plan how they could be together, but that it was all bait. I seem to remember at one point that the landing was where SM and HE met to get it on, probably because he could walk there and HE could pick him up. But I figure she was told he would pick her up at the landing and they would just drive and talk and figure it out.

I didn't remember she has a brother.

I always forget to. However, this actually shows me she didn't just leave. She is used to crashing on couches, she would have gone to her brother, IIRC he lived in Chicago... or Cleveland? One of the C cities by the great lakes I think.

I got chills when ME said she made eye contact with TM in the courthouse and heard TM audibly gasp (because of how much ME looks like Heather).

YES I loved this, and she does. So much so.

I find it curious that in the defense's closing, GM enumerated things that were not found at PTL and included "a piece of a shoelace". To my knowledge, that is not an item commonly found at crime scenes.

I admit I didn't listen to his closing because I didn't feel I had to. But I guess maybe I missed some possible clues? Although I doubt it because I feel like he was rambling and grasping at straws.

Yes, this is so sad, and there have been 3 teenage girls gone missing from Lumberton in the past month. Reaaaalllyyyy makes me wonder.

And now a group of quotes:

I think his parents understood early on that Tammy was trouble with a capital T and weren't happy about Sidney being involved with her...and Tammy had little use for them, IMO.

A controlling wife like Tammy tries to isolate their spouse from family and friends, who they perceive as threats.

There must be some reason relating to Heather's disappearance that made Tammy agree to go to his parents around Christmas 2013 -- even if it was for no other reason than to drum up money for lawyers. Tammy wanted something. That's the only reason she allowed the visit.

it's a long shot, but maybe they discussed the possibility of being "found out" and wanted him to see his mom before they were arrested? They were arrested for murder not long after (was it February when that happened??) or is that giving TM too much credit :rolleyes:

You and I may think like that but I think that is way beyond her. Had to of been an ulterior motive. imo

Maybe that was his reward for his part in helping take care of HE. He got to see his parents for a few hours on Christmas?

Good Morning, Addy,

Oh boy, that's a horrible thought, but it does sound like something Tammy would do.

I still can't believe that she has been convicted and locked away for years to come. She is definitely where she needs to be. I couldn't imagine someone like that walking around in my neighborhood... God only knows what else she manipulated in the past. And now, even in jail, she manipulates her children to do her biddng..... i will be watching and waiting to see if Sidney will try to help them once he gets released. Being where they are presently seems very toxic.

It does seem toxic! Very toxic...Im sure SM is worried about them. He seems like he could be "normal" given some time away from TM and her manipulation.

I also think that it was a reward or a way to keep him in line. I also wonder if he gets counseling in prison? I feel like they should offer him that because it may help get him out from under Tammy's thumb. Maybe if they deny parole they can get him in counseling and he may crack.

Also, listening to TMs trial over again, AC was texting her from two different phones that night. One from her actual number and another from a number not associated with any name. I barely caught it but I did. I don’t know why they didn’t make a bigger deal about that. Makes you wonder....

Now I so want to see these records in their entirety. There's been so much confusion over the numbers on here, I wish we had them to lay out.

Oh, you must stay for Act II of Pinocchio! :D

Incidentally, I think her change in demeanor from Friday to Monday was because she spent the weekend reading around the net getting the full blast of how her testiphony was perceived (No, Madam T, few if any bought your fibs nor cared for the attitude).

Change in demeanor? I noticed no change, she was still a combative witness.

Respectfully snipped for space and clarity

I thought there was a marked difference in her projected sense of control from Fri. to Mon., she was still very combative, agreed.

I know what you mean about the smell after hurricane flooding, there aren't words to describe the foul smell of structure decomposition from water and mold. It's been over a year since Harvey and some things (like concrete slabs) still smell.

Ah yes. I see what you mean. I think she went into it sure she would be believed because why wouldn't they believe this cunning tale she has spun. I even think she felt smug at getting a reaction from NL by calling her by her first name. Then like you said she found out people did not view her as she viewed herself and her sassy niceties to NL in her mind were actually viewed as a negative and disrespectful. I think that genuinely surprised her and threw her off her game so instead of keeping it up on Monday she switched from lie lie lie to deny deny deny and kept trying to throw the state under the bus.

Exactly! You stated it perfectly CA. :)

RS&BBM

agree totally with this - she couldn’t fathom that her lies weren’t being believed, she was incredulous at the reaction her snottiness had. I think she had a fair shot at a “not guilty”, as there wasn’t a massive amount of clearly explained evidence (and we all know juries want that CSI effect). She had a fair shot but blew it entirely on her own. Years of people deferring to her like shes some princess has gotten her believing her own lies upon lies. Ugh.

Hey Ash! Great to see you again! Just a quick response to one of your posts, RSBM:
I do think he tossed the phone but not from PTL directly, remember he was training for a Disney Marathon that following January, so he was used to running and such. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he ran from home down the wood trails into WWR since their house is right on the edge of it.
I remember a big deal being made of the fact that SM finished that race, despite not training for it at all. I don't know if anyone else remembers that, and I can't find it right now, but I had it pop into my mind when I read your post and pictured him "training."

I also remember that! Also, I feel really silly right now because I cannot for the life of me remember what RSBM means? Is it "Respectfully Snipped By Me"?

Yes. Or at least that's what I use it to mean. :D

Leath Correctional Institution is a level 3 women's facility located in Greenwood South Carolina. Level 3 facilities are the equivalent of a maximum security prison. Leath is 233 mi. from Myrtle Beach.

This is very good. It means during her assessment at Graham they undoubtedly noticed TM's sociopathic/psychopathic personality, along with a strong need to control. They've put her in the most secure level of prison. I noticed her record said the move was "administrative." They've got her number!

I'm sure she didn't do herself any favors in the assessment process, look how she conducted herself in court. The big news is she's got herself a job now, Wardkeeper Assistant. That means she will assist with the day to day operation of the housing unit. Oh Boy, we'll see how long that lasts!!!

Susan Smith is also at Leath, wonder if the two will become friends.

Oh, that woman makes me so mad! I remember her ex-husband (and father of the children) vowing to attend every parole hearing and fight to keep her locked up for life. I hope he'll make good on that.
