Taking comments out of context, intentionally removing your own relevant ones and creating a false narrative of bullying is the opposite of your stated intention.

I’m just thankful that my kids’ school district is not participating in this ridiculous walk out. Schools are for learning. I don’t want my kids wasting their time trying to make a political statement. It’s unbelievable me that any school would allow students to leave class for any kind of protest, no matter what it is. If my kids’ school was going to participate in this, I would have taken the day off work and had my kids stay home. Kids can do all the protesting they want ON THEIR OWN TIME.

Sad day for you. There was a walk out in Olympia. You are right. Schools are a place for learning, not a place for getting shot.

I think that was a reasonable approach.

I was a little surprised to see the school district in Eugene, Oregon wasn't more on board, though, considering it's a very political area and also rather liberal and they also have experienced the Thurston High School and Umpqua College shootings.

Oregon is pretty pro-gun. Remember the protest against Obama after the UCC shooting? From the reports I have read, there were only a few dozen students who walked out in Roseburg. I'm sure they can expect repercussions. And there was no walk out at all at UCC where the shooting happened.

Dozens of Roseburg High School students left their classrooms at 10 a.m. and stood in an outdoor courtyard for 17 minutes, a tribute to the 17 students who were killed in a school shooting one month ago in Parkland, Florida.

The students were advised by administrators, who were standing at the gates, to stay on campus during the protest, but six students walked out to Harvard Avenue in front of the school.

Students at Umpqua Community College, where a gunman killed nine people in 2015, didn't hold a walkout. Instead, the student government set up a table with a sign that read "We stand in unity to end violence in our schools" and offered orange wristbands

Why are you angry about people asserting their first amendment right, yet so for people asserting their second amendment right?

The NRA is to blame for the lack of gun control. A lobby group that is funded by the gun industry has no place talking about guns. It is biased. The more guns and ammo sold, then the more money the NRA get. They aren't concerned about gun safety, just gun sales.

Second Amendment = good.
First Amendment = bad, especially when it's people expressing views that are not pro-gun.

Which just shows that the argument is not really about Constitutional rights, but rather about ideology.

I am interested in what the numbers mean. Going by the link to walk outs posted avove:
In our district students were allowed to walk out and and long as they stayed within the rules there would be no punishment. Only 6 high school out of 27 (not including alternative or charter schools) had walk out protests, and at those schools not all students walked out. No middle schools and only 1 elementary school participated. In another county only 2 of the 10 high schools had walk outs protests and not all students in those schools walked out. They were also allowed to walk out without punishment as long as they stayed in the rules. No elemantary or middle schools participated.
Some of the surrounding districts had no walkouts.
The numbers IMO shows that a very low amount of students participated in the protest.
Even looking at the map around where the shooting happened very few schools participated.

That map was not even close to being complete. From what I have read there were walkouts at most schools, across the country. That said, I don't think any conclusions can be made from it. When I was in school I remember joining several walkout protests, and I didn't even know the reason for the protest, and I don't really care. It was just a reason to get out of class.

I wouldn't say I'm "angry," just disappointed that public tax dollars are being wasted on a message that I, and many other Americans don't necessarily agree with. I'm glad you give the NRA so much credit for protecting our 2nd Amendment rights. Without them there's a good chance the government would be coming to my house to confiscate all the guns I have in my safe. Maybe I should send a big donation?

The NRA is not protecting your Second Amendment rights. They could care less about the Second Amendment. They are protecting their gun sales.
