i like Gwyneth Paltrow

Marthatex said:I liked Blythe Danner, her mother, as an actress. I loved her growing up, saw her in some shows and thought she was just great. I guess she was with Ken Howard in one show.
I read that she chose to forego a great career to stay home and raise her children. She never got out into the limelight that much and wasn't even seen again for a long time, until recently she went back into a medical show.
I don't know that much about Bruce Paltrow, except I guess he was a talented director. It was a shame that he died of the throat cancer; I take it they were a very close-knit family.

The British can be just as rude as anyone else. I have Brit relatives, trust me, I know!
The thing that's so funny, is, they are just more subtle about it. People are probably ragging on her every day right to her face and she just doesn't know, because they're doing it more subtly and with a british accent.
I love this post, LOL.....Marthatex said:Funny. Oh, Lady Gwynneth.....how about coming on down to Central Texas? Sandra Bullock, a pretty classy lady, just opened a 5 star restaurant here. We seem to be OK enough for her, even though she had to tear her house down and sue a worthless builder.
That's life; some are nice, some are not. We "people from the sticks"; barbarians if you will, seem somehow to blend "intellectos", lake bums, soccer moms, poor musicians all together.
If you don't think Willie Nelson is INTELLECTUAL, my dear, you just haven't listened real hard to his songs and smoked a tad o' weed......![]()

julianne said:I wonder if she is going to start speaking in a faux British accent also, just like Madonna did. LOL.
eve said:Well, I'll tell you one thing, she better brush up on her grammar, no matter what her accent! I heard her interviewed and was amused to hear many errors (my pet peeve, as an English teacher!) LOL! Yes, I was amused. Now I am even more so.
BTW, if they're so dam# civilized over there, why don't they see a dentist once in awhile? Why don't they learn how to steam vegetables instead of turning them into mush? Why do they LOVE those tabloids as much as we barbarians over here?![]()

Marthatex said:I'm sure she has her own personal chef from NYC who travels with her. I'm sure she eats only a personal macrobiotic diet, while floating in her zero edge pool in her "special" pool chair.
eve said:Yeah, Martha and to be sure she had her orthodontia done in the uncivilized wilderness of L.A.

Peter Hamilton said:Poor gwnyeth--She seems to have forgotten that America had more inventions than the rest of the world combined--It was America that has allowed the world to become a civilized place--Let's see, what did the British contribute the last 200 years to the world--Oh yes,the Black Hole of Calcutta when they ruled India--Oh yes, contributing to starting World War One,in which millions of British died but it took civilized America to force the Germans to finally surrender---and it was America that contributed billions to the Marshall Plan after World War II that saved Western Civilization, but the Brits were too broke to help much at that time--and it was civilized America that helped defeat Hitler--would there have even been a D-Day invasion without the US Involvement? Perhaps the British would have even been invaded by Hitler if not for the USA in the war--and gee,Gwynneth forgot to mention how hard Americans work compared to the British and how the British health care system is immeasurably behind the US in medical technology--and gee,Gwynneth forgot to mention that recently a British doctor was declared to be the biggest serial killer of all time in recent world history--ah yes, the British are much more civilized---and lastly, the British drive on the wrong side of the road,at least compared to the rest of the world--oh yes they are just so civilized
NOw i do like most of what you post but i don't like this one. I am not attacking you here. But the US getting involved in WWII didn't only benefit us, it benefited all of Europe, not to mention the Jews. I think the outcome in Europe may have been different had we not gotten involved. of course we waited until we were attacked to get involved if that's when you mean by having alterior motives for it. School shootings aren't an everyday occurence here, from how the media spins everything here i don't blame you for having a negative view about America.narlacat said:Yes because the US worked out that sending x amount of troops would hurt the economy, so they didn't send as many as was the original plan and consequently the economy improved whilst in Europe the economy went downhill!
Your statement about how America defeated Hitler is quite untrue, but that is obviously what you've been led to believe..the US entered WW11 entirely for it's own interests, because it benefited the US!
When have you guys ever done anything for anyone that didn't benefit yourselves?
Well, that's because you guys do lots of research on things like- helping yourselves lol
You'd rather send the next rocket ship to the stars than address the real problems in your country!!
Every country has unemployment issues, the Brits are known for their hard working middle class!
So, one serial killer is somehow worse than all the serial killers in the states?
Now you're just joking around surely :waitasec:
You can't even go to school in the states without being shot at!
You have a school shooting on average once a year!
How is the other side of the road wrong lol, try different!
And again, not true, half the world drives on the left hand side of the road!!!!
Not Gwyneths sister lolMarthatex said:MEET GWYNETH's SISTER!![]()
Now thing's are really getting political, and I'm STAYIN OUT OF IT.
In all fairness the Brits were and have been a huge ally of ours and have been a huge support to us. I did a search on Brit inventors and here's what I got NOTHING, just joking, see linkPeter Hamilton said:Poor gwnyeth--She seems to have forgotten that America had more inventions than the rest of the world combined--It was America that has allowed the world to become a civilized place--Let's see, what did the British contribute the last 200 years to the world--Oh yes,the Black Hole of Calcutta when they ruled India--Oh yes, contributing to starting World War One,in which millions of British died but it took civilized America to force the Germans to finally surrender---and it was America that contributed billions to the Marshall Plan after World War II that saved Western Civilization, but the Brits were too broke to help much at that time--and it was civilized America that helped defeat Hitler--would there have even been a D-Day invasion without the US Involvement? I am not attacking you either or your country but when posters come out with stuff like PeterHamilton came out with, one has to respond!, his arrogance is what America is known through out the world for..2sisters said:NOw i do like most of what you post but i don't like this one.
