I am not attacking you either or your country but when posters come out with stuff like PeterHamilton came out with, one has to respond!, his arrogance is what America is known through out the world for..
Being the most powerful is not the same as being the best!

Of course you do.

I know school shootings don't happen every day, like I said in my previous post, they happen on average once a year, it's not media spin I'm afraid.
i know where you are coming from. his post was a little harsh.

Think I read somewhere that there are more MRI's in NYC alone than in the entire country of Britain--poor Gwynneth, there might be a slight wait if she ever needs one---and here's a movie Gwynneth should watch: Zulu(1964) with Michael Caine--shows the "civilized" British shooting thousands of unarmed Zulu warriors 100 years ago--and let us not forget how the "civilized" British dealt with their crime problem so long ago: they exported all the criminals/debtors to Australia--but at least they didn't send them to Devil's Island like the French did lol--gotta give the Brits a little credit
Well, that's just being greedy :p but hey let's not worry about that-or the worlds resources!
Well, credit where credit is due, pity they did it the wrong way around, they should have banished themselves here lol, it doesn't get much better than this

And the line could continue onwards, i could throw numerous examples of American actions, you could throw more British ones back, but in the end, we are talking about a mediocre actress mouthing off to try and ingrain herself in a country that has already accepted her, and alienating her home country at the same time, for no other reason than to gain a couple of headlines. Is that really worth starting an argument over?

Personally, i love the US, especially NY, where i think any British person could fit in comfortably, they are possibly the most abrupt, rude people in the street, its like being in London. Hell, there are going to be some dumb, ignorant, and stupid people, but thats the way of the world, not one countrys problem.

Not Gwyneths sister lol

I don't mean to get political but come on, that post before mine was the height of arrogance!

Gwyneth should have kept her opinions to herself, she just made herself look foolish.

I'm just kidding. I agree we have no right to be arrogant.

I think we got involved in WWII because of attack mainly; and there were many who didn't think we should get "involved" in Europe's affairs. It seems that Europe did not want to "stand up" though.

It seems recently we had a huge "rash" of school shootings, have we already forgotton this year? Rashes of hate speech, rising crime rate.

No, Gwynneth should watch her mouth if she doesn't want flack; but we can hardly be complacent or brag about our "superiority" here.

Well, I was just kidding about the English before - there are unintelligent, uncivilized people everywhere! No one has the market cornered on that (now as for bad teeth....hmmmm....)! The USA and GB have been strong allies always and I don't see that changing. But just because they have that dignified air, don't forget King Henry the 8th's favorite method of marriage dissolution!!! The Brits have had their share of taking part in savagry, as have most countries!

It just really irritates me that Gwyn doesn't have any simple loyalty for her own country. It seems some just have to bite the hand that feeds them. I have lost respect and afffection for her.

Still, I think what she said is actually SO ignorant that it speaks for itself, quite nicely. Cheerio!

Yes, I just read "The Other Bolyn Girl" - that was so good! Of course that was centuries ago; we were all pretty barbaric back then.

She should have more loyalty IMO, at least in public. But was she in a public forum or in a small group? The media grab and flash everything around in seconds. How old is she? 25? 28? I imagine I said alot of dumb things when I was young too; and still do!

I haven't lost respect for her because she was not involved in some kind of bizarre "hate" speech; just expressing an opinion; not like I disrespect Britney, Paris, Lindsay and some of the other "it's all about me-ers"; I think she has talent as an actress -

and if she's married to COLDPLAY, well; she's doin OK alright; I'll keep respecting her as long as she's a good mother and doesn't say too many more outlandish things. :)

She did sing in that one movie Duets, she is not too bad. I think she is a good mom from what I have heard and seen. She does have a right to her opinion but I dont think I would have said that in a paper for all of us "Americans" to read, lol...

I have heard she is actually an excellent singer. She can be the next Yoko.

The British are not smarter than Americans-far from it. I have been to England several times and by no means am I an expert, but the British tend to be much more liberal and accepting of religious views, alternative lifestlyes, than Americans. Britian's foreign policy often road on the coattails of America's and that is why Blair was so often badmouthed along with Bush.

When I was in England in the 90's...the British looked up to Americans and many brits dreamt of coming to America.

After Paltrow said she absolutely hated the movie Titanic, I decided I did not like her.

England is a country with loads of problems, just like the US but the only thing I think they have on us is their National Healthcare System.

Some great music comes out of England and some absolute garbage does as well. England is known for filling their Top 40 with pop crap, people with limited talent but they can sell a million records.

To each his own though. I do find the British accent very sexy

Things may have changed since the 90's, but I can't talk for the English.
All I know is if I say to people I want to go to America they look at me funny!

You don't like Paltrow because she didn't like Titanic?
To dislike someone for not watching a movie, is a new one for me!
Geez.

Um, I'll take the Beatles over fatboy Elvis anyday!
The greatest rock band in the world hails from the UK..

I am definitely a Beatles fan, so some good music comes out of England but also some total garbage manufactured pop acts that were once popular in the 80's and early 90's. Go to youtube.com and see the Band Aid II video for "Do they know its Christmas" and most of those artists that are british have no career in music and most Americans have not even heard of.

In the 90's when I was there, Americans were looked up to. Not anymore. I have along time British friend who wants to live in America and be here legally more than anything, but she might be the exception.

I vaguely remember Gwenyth really badmouthing Titanic, I took it as comepttive snobbery since she was up for best acress at the Oscars. She said alot more than just she did not like it, it rubbed me wrong anyways.

Right!
I wouldn't know what she's said about anything in the past...I don't really like her as an actress that much...

I hear ya about British music, our soap stars do well over there lol...alot of Aussie actresses have made the switch to singing by making it in the British charts...Kylie Minogue is huge there....it's alot easier to break into the UK charts than your charts..you guys do have some good music/artist...I just never liked Elvis lol
