I hope someone that knows more than me can clarify this information for me...it's driving me nuts....here's my question; If someone is arrested and charged with murdering Hailey will their trial be held in the 7th District Court in Midland? Or will it be held in Scurry County? or Mitchell County?

IANAL so I am just guessing. But I think it depends on where she was killed not found. County where she died is probably the one where trial would be. So til we know that unsure?

I am kind of getting at something, but I can't quite figure it out yet. I think there is an answer in all of this.

Zero reports of her taking off that night, but no one saw her so who can say? And there were certainly reports of her taking off the following night, apparently without anyone being too concerned about it. So there is a relevant history for this.

The point is to figure out what happened to her, it is not an exercise to build a memorial or paint her in a good light. That is completely irrelevant to the case. Hiding things in her life that people find unpalatable does not advance the investigation nor does it provide justice to her. Justice will come from the truth, warts and all, pleasant or not, and nothing else.

It will require a bit of digging through old threads, but early on in this case there were reports from family friends who HD apparently lived with for a period, and they described a situation where there was little parental control and she came and went as she pleased.

After HD disappeared, the mother of MB was interviewed and claimed that MB had once overnighted with HD, but that she wouldn't allow it again because she found out later that the girls had been out and about at night.

If that is accurate, that was her life, how she was, and of course it is relevant to the investigation, especially if that in some way played a role in what happened to her. It does not serve any purpose sugar coating that.

The assumption almost everyone has here is that SA did it and that is that. That is a possibility of course, but the timeline makes that difficult to reconcile. I have certainly considered that, and it is still possible, but unless new information comes to light it seems unlikely IMO.

But, I have also considered two other scenarios. One of those is less likely now, since she has been found dead, so I don't think that happened. But the third one is still a real possibility IMO.

So, I want to know where she went, what she did, and who she did it with.

I've been thinking about what you said...about Hailey having more freedom than she should....she was 13 but her brother was 16.... and maybe she followed him or wanted to do what he could do.

One possible theory would be she "left in haste" just going to her fathers home...that is why she took nothing...maybe she told shawn she was spending the night with MB after going to her dad's was because SA would be leaving to pick up BJD from work and she would miss telling someone...

Haley might have planned on returning and gathering her stuff....

Could she be abducted crossing the street....sure, maybe not likely but sure she could have....

But I would like to understand more about the locked doors and why David couldnt get it....and SA's behavior to me is still Bizarre

Still concern that if Billie was under the influence , came home and SA told her then where Hailey went and Billie did get mad but he was able to circumvent her calling to check on Hailey.

SA seems pretty calm on camera and persuasive and convincing and BJD said he was the only person who could calm ..

Whose Idea was it to go buy drugs instead of coming home to the children???

I wish I had more knowledge of what illicit prescription drugs were purchased that night, how much and what the effects would be from taking them.

I am completely out of my depth in that area. And I suspect the drugs and their possible affects may have been a part of what came after.

Wondering if SA vs BD........was put in a room together now and left alone, what would happen!
LE knows they will turn on each other to save their own skin.
IMO, let the battle begin and get the truth!
Has anyone heard from dad Clint his girlfriend?

Not sure about a trial but KTXS reported that Scurry County was handling the case, not C-City.

I just googled shawn adkins and billie dunn and looked under images and refreshed my mind how strange they both were (are) IMO

I've tried to find the impromptu (and literally lopsided, ha!) presser that the Sheriff in Hailey's community gave prior to the official press statement, and can't.

However, IIRC, he stated that a trial would most likely be in another county because any jury in their area would be tainted.

That's what I was thinking- that they'd hold it in another county so the perp could get a 'fair' trial. Ugh.

Remember - any one of us comes under the scrutiny of the law, it takes a lot to remove our rights as free citizens of this great nation of ours. Although I am a law - abiding citizen, I am Grateful that my rights are protected just as well as any other person - and that it takes ALOT to remove those rights from me or anyone else.

OK, off the soap box ;)

That sounds about right. And if someone is killed in one county and the body is found in another, perhaps there are more charges that could be brought by the county where the person was found?

ETA: And there should be additional charges for crossing the county line...but that is probably just in the court of my-tee. (Just pile on the charges...pile 'em all on).

Can someone refresh my memory, does an indictment have to come from a grand jury in Texas?

You and me both. :moo:

IIRC the trial would be brought in the county that the crime was committed in, and to my knowledge the only crime scene is where Hailey was found, and then it will up to the prosecutor or defense to request a change of venue and if and when a Judge grants it, that will be where the case is tried.

Won't they investigate where she was killed? Not just where she was found.

All felony charges must be presented to a grand jury to get an indictment.

ETA- in Texas

I think they have already done that when she was first reported missing, but I do not recall any forensics being found at her home, so if they don't know exactly where she was killed, the site she was located in would become the crime scene.
