I would not consider Tommy to be in a category of intelligent thinkers. If he abducted Haleigh and they have not caught on to him...he may not have been worried about taking a gun. After all, he would have already outsmarted FDLE, PCSO, and the FBI into believing it was all his sister's fault.

Yeah... if he took Haleigh and if this gun stealing incident is a representative sample of his criminal cunning it's difficult to understand how he's avoided arrest this long.

This is staring to make more sense with this additional information. The article says that the theft "happened a couple of weeks earlier", so it probably occurred after the Croslin/Cummings domestic dispute and Ratgate. It sounds to me like Tommy might have thought more charges could be filed and he saw an opportunity to get a gun that he could hide and nobody else would know about.

It could be that "Hank Jr.'s sister-in-law" is a typo and it was actually "Hank Jr.'s wife" that the gun owner called. It sounds like even after the gun was returned, he was upset with the Croslins and called the police to report the crime. I imagine that LE was jumping for joy when this opportunity fell in their laps! Especially after they found out that Hank and Lisa skipped town.
He could have called Chelsea. If they were using his phone to call her...he would have the number on his bill. Or perhaps it was a SIL from Lindsay's side of the family. Does she have siblings?

On the 911 tape, wasn't there another address LE went to somewhere near RC's? Was that Tommy's house?

Yes, and apparently a call was made from the home on Tyler to the non-emergency police department before the 911 IIRC.

lol....if it is making sense to you could you explain it to me...maybe.....lol. I can't understand why someone would steal a gun for goodness sakes. I mean, if it was for protection then why did he hide it out back in the shed? Wouldn't he have kept it on his person for protection....or even close at hand? The fact that he hid the gun tells me that he had another plan in mind for the weapon rather than protecting himself. Perhaps he even contemplated taking himself out of the equation. I just can't predict what will come next and sadly I don't think any of this is leading to Haleigh.

Good post Kelly. You are exactly right. I am retired now, but did counseling at a battered women's shelter for a few years. RC has classic traits of an abusive man.

IIRC, according to court records, Ron Cummings was arrested in 2001 after a man said Ron threatened to beat him.

IDK......I'm thinking fight/rat/gun.......looks like he might have been scared. He was wanting to leave. They all wanted to leave, but they were on the news telling people they wanted to leave, not hiding it. He might very well know something that certain people don't want him telling.......but just him, nope. That rat was a message, and we know who from.

If I was scared I would have a gun on my person not hidden out back in the shed.

I wonder what was so important that he needed to steal a gun...

Plus he had two of his own. By the dramatic weight loss in Tommy since March I would say he needed money to buy drugs. He wasn't working and you got to pay for them somehow.

You beat me to that post. I agree totally.

On Topic: With Tommy stealing a gun from a neighbor of his parents', I believe the likelihood of him being the one who stole Ronald's gun has just increased. No wonder it was found near Tommy's house in the ditch. This shows that Tommy probably had it in for Ronald before Haleigh went missing, imo. Why was Tommy hellbent on stealing a gun when he had 2 already? The only reason I can think of is he had something planned which included a gun that he did not want traced back to him.
snipped and bbm
I have to disagree with your reasoning on this one, SS. Why would stealing RC's gun indicate Tommy had it in for him? Did he have it in for the neighbor, also? I do agree it makes Tommy look like a favorable candidate for the gun thief, but I strongly suspect he's not the only one in the county. In fact, I've always believed that guns would eventually return to the forefront of this case.

True..but I believe that info came from another Croslin......so was it true or no?

Am I correct in thinking the only person that said Tommy had two guns was Misty? Isn't that the only place that info has came from?

A good possibility, except that when addicts steal property for drug money, they turn it over pretty quickly.

Well, we now know who's gun it was:
Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr., 23, was charged with grand theft shortly before 7
p.m. He is charged with the theft of a .38-caliber Colt handgun from a
former neighbor of his parents.

He was being held at the county jail Tuesday night on about $50,000 bail.

According to an arrest report, Croslin and his mother visited the former neighbor
in the 200 block of Sunglow Avenue in Satsuma in August. Marvin Martin
told deputies he later discovered the gun missing but that it was
returned after he contacted the Croslins.

Shall I just throw out any statements made in this case because of the name of the person saying it? I take each statement on it's own merit and after careful consideration I make up my mind on what is the truth according to me...lol...I also refer to a saying by Judge Judy....if it doesn't make sense it isn't true.

None of this makes sense........the crazy high bond, the waiting to have him arrested....none of it. And Marvin himself said he's not sure who took it Tommy or his Mother.......so I have to think maybe Mom had a reason to say it was in the shed. :waitasec:

Wasn't the Ro against tommy to stay away from Misty and vice-versa? Did it say anything about RC on that order?

I remember RC making an excuse to NG about not being able to go there but I didn't think any order was written with RC's name on it...I could be wrong but I think this fiasco was between Misty and Tommy (actually it wasn't but Ron couldn't file because of custody issues that would be brought up...so he had Misty do it)

So if RC could go over there, I would think Tommy would want protection. RC is crazy and unpredictable to boot..IMO

True..but I believe that info came from another Croslin......so was it true or no?

The neighbor said he isn't sure if Hank Jr or Lisa stole the gun but Hank Jr got charged with the crime and Lisa is gone, unavailable for questioning by LE.

If LE needs to question Lisa.....they will. I'm sure they know where she is.
